    Is that a DPR-404 at 2:50? What was it used for?

    Hey A&H, I love these consoles but I have a hard time specing these due to some insanely lackluster experiences with AM&S. I have outlined these with my rep (audio biz, FANTASTIC rep) but my days long repeat calling and emailing AM&S on multiple support cases leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Are you aware of these shortcomings across the pond?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Mark, I'm sorry to hear you have had difficulty here, are you still in contact with AM&S? We do get contacted about some of their cases, so it's entirely possible we have discussed your case previously.
      I would recommend keeping in contact with AM&S directly, however, if there is anything I can help with, please feel free to start a ticket at support.allen-heath.com and I will do what I can to help!
      Thanks! Alex

    Touch sensitive faders? Can I write automation in Pro Tools? Thank you.

    • @AllenandHeathUK

      Hi Lyd,
      The SQ doesn't have touch sensitive faders, but you can still use the MIDI faders for read/write mode automation in most DAWs.
      Thanks!
      Alex

    Hey im seriously thinking about getting me the sq7. But I see a lot of comments talking about various problems. How reliable are these consoles? I like the features but can’t invest $7000 to have it break or not work properly.

    How to connect digital mixer to power amplifier

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Год назад

      Hello Rowel,
      The SQ has balanced outputs on XLR connector.
      Amplifier Inputs may vary across different manufacturers, but as standard in the professional audio industry it is must likely that they will be XLR as well.
      Simply connect the output of the mixer to the input of the amp using a balanced XLR cable.
      Cheers,
      Rafael

    How many DCA does the SQ consoles have?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  5 лет назад

      Hi Bobby,
      You have 8 DCAs available on SQ, this is in addition to 8 Mute Groups.
      Thanks! Alex

      How does a DCA differ from a VCA? I’ve researched this, and they both basically sound the same.

    • @noiseboy40
      @noiseboy40 5 лет назад +3

      @@cbrooks0905 They're essentially the same function. VCAs are named after the electronic circuits used in analogue consoles to facilitate controlling multiple channels(voltage controlled amplifier). When creating the same control in digital consoles some manufacturers thought it would be more appropriate to rename this function DCA standing for digitally controlled amplifier or digitally controlled attenuator. Some digital consoles still refer to them as VCAs.

      Steven Kent, ahhhh! Makes perfect sense. ...confusing nonetheless, if you don’t know the distinction. I was thinking that they’re both available on any mixer. Now I see one is for analog and the other is for digital. Thanks for clearing that up!

    Can this be used as a DAW controller?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  5 лет назад

      Hi cbrooks0905,
      The SQ has 32 MIDI channel strips which can be used with any DAW that support Mackie or HUI control surfaces. For more information, please contact support.allen-heath.com with any questions you have.
      Thanks! Alex

      Nope :) Fish was all SQ - he bought one to use live and in the studio as explained in the vid. SW10 Productions were using the dLive C1500 for FoH for the fantastic support act, Doris Brendel - more here - facebook.com/sw10productions

    Why the low latency stage boxes? Surely that’s abit of a foolish decision?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  4 года назад +3

      Hi Aaron, One of the main reasons for trying to achieve the lowest latency in a digital system is for monitoring, especially in-ear monitoring, where any kind of delay can feel unnatural and be off-putting for a performer. There will always be latency with a digital system, but with the SQ we have managed to get this to under 0.7ms from analogue input to analogue output with all processing engaged (this is about the time it takes for sound to travel 20cm in air...). If you're talking about the additional ADC/DAC time in a digital expander in comparison to an analogue multicore however, then it's worth noting that by converting at the stage, you do not need to convert at the console. Cheers! Keith.

      AllenandHeathUK may have miss worded my comment, what I mean is your using a 96khz desk and running 48khz stage boxes. The engineer is then talking about how great it is working at 96khz. Surely he isn’t operating at that frequency if the first link in the chain is operating at 48khz
