Pattern work in Gusty/Variable winds. When your plane weighs 750lbs a little wind feels like a lot.

  • Variable winds this afternoon. Wind was mostly a direct crosswind but also would switch to a headwind or quartering tailwind. The thing to watch in this video is how many inputs are required (Rudder, aileron and throttle) to get the plane to do what I want. Use the Mouse/ Move your Phone, or throw on a VR headset to get a FPOV of what I'm doing.

    Loving the ability to move the view around and check wingtips and all that! Veryyyy cool.

    Is there anything more enjoyable than a bunch of back to back short approaches? Any time the pattern traffic allows at my delta, I always ask.
    Love it Joe; keep 'em coming.

    Great video. Love the 360 vr view. I always get a little nervous when i see those power pylons, but you seem to have mastered this airfield. Great aircraft the cub, very nimble and ideal for tricky airports like this, but it still needs good piloting skills like you have to do this and make it look easy.

      Thanks 👍 Fortunately the Powerlines are close enough to the trees so it's like one big obstacle, lol

    I was up in my Champ at the same time in MA, winds were the same, always a challenge, good work!

    Looks like your reflexes were getting a workout today. I do like the 360 videos. Gives me a more realistic feel.

      Yeah, much different than the early AM, dead calm air, lol

    Very nice. I like that new camera. Love the J3. Everyone should learn to fly in a J3, Champ Chief, or Pacer.
    The Chief is a good one for someone thinking a crosswind landing in a conventional gear, on grass, low horsepower is a piece of cake !
    A Chief has humble more than one pilot with a groundloop that cab happen faster than you can imagine.
    Love your videos. Loved it when your daughter went up. Create a passion that will last a lifetime. ❤

    Wow, love the 4k 360° video (although it took 2 men and a rope to convince RUclips to show me the 4k version on my phone)

    I've seen a few guys do these, and dig them! I'm thinking about doing one, but, since I'm not sponsored it'll have to be the X3 in 1080P LOL

    Nice! What airports are these? "Allens", and the "W"?
    Love the 360 vid - although truly, it needs to be 1080p or above. The 720s is rough. I know 4K 360 is awesome but kind of impractical space/processing-wise. But 1080p would really crisp things up and allow us to armchair fly with those old-timey steam gauges 🤠

    I love the 360! I found myself look for the sight lines on the windshield. I can hardly wait until I start lessons next month in Cub J3, no doubt it’s going to be awesome!

    Great video! Could camera be set in front seat, in the passenger's POV?

      @Bananasssssssss  15 дней назад

      Yeah but believe it or not where it is placed is pretty much what it looks like from front seat. Almost 90% there anyway

    The x4 does 8k doesn't it? Can you do a 8k version? I haven't taken mine up yet but so far I am not feeling it being a lot better than the 1inch 360 based on walk around footage.

    • @Bananasssssssss
      @Bananasssssssss  14 дней назад

      Yeah I put up another one of these that I took in 8k but I don’t see much of a difference. I put it up 2 days ago. Let me know if you notice quality difference

    Awesome video as always!!! At what altitude do you fly the pattern on the cub?

    • @Bananasssssssss
      @Bananasssssssss  14 дней назад +1

      Kind of Depends. Home airport it 1,000 (used to be 800Ft), the private strip is whatever altitude we can climb to by the time we are abeam the numbers, lol.
