    Those two penguin caregivers are an excellent example of wonderful, caring, knowledgeable human beings!!!! Even down to the training of the dog caregiver!!

    I hope when the previous owners serve community service it is in the SPCA or other facility like them. Thank you for the video.

    I work with the Humane Society in Colorado Springs. We don’t put down kittens unless there is absolutely nothing that can be done. They treat kittens with ring worm and cat flu. They remove the eye if its dead and the one-eyed kittens are still adopted. I’m not sure about completely blind kittens, but I’ve treated plenty of kittens with cat flu. I’ve fostered over 50 kittens and I’ve only had two be euthanized. One was unfortunately on death’s doorway despite several rounds of medication and plenty of care and he was euthanized, though he would be died within hours anyway. His mom also didn’t make it despite extensive vet treatment, but I was able to save both of his siblings. The other kitten had internal congenital problems and was barely gaining weight, in pain and too small for surgery. I was able to save her brother though. I’ve bottle fed, syringe fed, and tube fed kittens. I’ve given all sorts of oral medications, eye ointments and subcutaneous fluids. But it comes down to resources and it sounds like the SPCA in this show has very little resources to help the sicker animals.

      They don't have to many resources, they rely solely on peoples donations and unfortunately have to make heartbreaking decisions alot.

    Putting Down

  • @maryrivera1200
    @maryrivera1200 8 месяцев назад +6

    They put down the animals real quick. There should be other options. There are people who adopt animals with some issues.

    • @m6666
      @m6666 8 месяцев назад +3

      Not with a bite issue. It could take at least another 12 months to train poor Zane properly, but once a dog bites, there isn't much that can be done to prevent him from doing it again. It then makes him an unpredictable dog, and they will never adopt a dog like that. Don't forget that New Zealand is only a small country so therefore they don't have a lot of resources compared to larger countries. I also think it was very wrong of them to say it was Zanes fault. Ultimately, he was really let down by his previous owner, and they let him down. Nobody else is to blame but her. Poor boy, he'd come such a long way.

      Oh ok didn't know this was from New Zealand. Every where it's different. I just love dogs and hate to see a healthy dog get put down. I do appreciate the people that do this job ,can't imagine how bad the animals would be without them doing their job.🙏❤️

    Why put down all these animals? Blind cats can be rehabed and live with one eye

  • @elisabetta611
    @elisabetta611 2 месяца назад

    You absolutely CAN raise and rehome blind kittens AND nurse them thru ringworm and cat flu. You just CHOSE not to bc it's the easy way out. Resources might be an issue but then SAY THAT and don't HIDE behind health issues that even private fosters can nurse them thru.

    So how can you raise blind people like me but not blind cats? I don’t understand that at all.

  • @MarnieBastian

    I don't understand why they put down most of the animals. Here in the US we do everything that we can to save them no matter what. Cat flu for the kittens would have been treated and the eyes would have been treated as well until they couldn't and then the eyes would have been removed which would have saved the kittens. I though the SPCA saves animals and not put them down.

    Ive watched enough of these that I started understanding why they put them down fast though I think there could be other options. But 1. Less resources being a small country. 2. Helping put only safe dogs in their small society. 3. Less lifelong suffering for the animal.
    This one unfortunately I agreed with their decision on the kittens and the dog. & yes its the owners fault.

    • @md-vq8sp
      @md-vq8sp 4 месяца назад

      The kitten especially, ik its tragic but given their health issues (just getting back to health will take a lot of time and money) and the fact they already had lifelong health issues like blindness their quality of life wasn't going to be the best. Plus these would take a lot longer to rehome than normal cats that could have used it. Also I live in a similar sized country any dog bite on a human can be prosecuted, especially if the dog is known to have a bite history. If Zane got adpoted and bit a human here, Zane would be immediately put down and the owner would be charged for the assault and can be imprisoned for 5 years.
