    Janelle do you know if it's European Spanish or American Spanish?

      I can't remember what was taught in the elementary Spanish kit. I know their high school level Spanish courses teach the Spanish language spoken in Latin America. I'm assuming they'd use the same thing for the younger grades.

    Wow what a blessing! This curriculum looks amazing and is definitely going on my list for my kindergartener. I believe in a year or two this would be great to start.

    Primera de Juan. Es Primero de Samuel/Reyes/Crónicas, porque son libros, pero Primera de Corintios/Tesalonicenses/Timoteo/Pedro/Juan, porque son cartas o epístolas. But I hear people saying "Primera" in the Tanakh too. Technically it's "Primera carta *a* los Corintios" but "primera carta *de* Juan" but AFAIK no one says "a" unless saying the name in full. So primera de Tesalonicenses.

    Bless you for posting this!!! I haven’t had a chance to go to an event and flip through the materials. I’ve been eyeing this for k5 next year! Thank you for taking the time to film this so helpful. ❤️❤️

    I too would love to know how things are going! I especially like that there are video lessons for all of Step One, my only concern is that there aren't lessons for other steps as you progress through the program and unfortunately for us I was a French student growing up, while now, of course, my child wants to learn Spanish. I'm worried that my pronunciation will be terrible and don't want to teach her incorrectly as it is VERY important to hear the words correctly many times as you are learning them.

      We are really enjoying the Spanish curriculum. The videos for the first step are wonderful (outdated a bit but still engaging and informative). Step one (that comes with the videos) is geared more towards a first grader although students kindergarten through 3rd would probably enjoy it. It is pricey and it is a bummer that only step one has videos. On the up side, you do get to keep the videos and everything else that comes in the kit. A full review is next on my list of videos to record... I just have to find the time. :)

      I was a French student too and that's why my children are starting with French whether they want to or not. Having seen the samples, the BJU Press Elementary Spanish does look very good but the price is not in our budget for grade school if I can teach French almost for free and anything beyond Step 1 has no videos. I just don't have the time to learn Spanish ahead of them on top of everything else. not for grade school. If my children want to learn Spanish when they are a bit older (maybe 10 or 12), they can take video or community college lessons. Up until then, it's French for us.

      That is great that you can teach French to your children! I wish I knew a second language and was able to teach it myself.

      I'm doing my best to get al the requested videos out to all of you! Short story... we are loving the Spanish videos for the first step (year) but a good thing to be aware of is that they are older videos. This does not bother my kids but may be an issue for other families. Also, step one (that comes with the videos) is geared towards 1st grade. Hope that helps a little for now.

    Hi Janelle! Thank you so much for posting this video. This looks like such a fun Spanish curriculum. We have wanted to start a Spanish curriculum with our children, but I have yet to see one I thought would interest my children. May I ask you if you know how many school years this Kit A will last you before you need Kit B? This seems like a lot of material to cover in just one school year.
    By the way, I wanted to say I absolutely love your channel! Your videos are great. You do such a good job at presenting and explaining things. I find myself returning to your channel in hopes you will have the information or help I am needing! Thank you for all you do!

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  7 лет назад

      Hi Ashley! Thank you for your kind words. I am glad my channel has been helpful and encouraging to you. That's why I make the videos!
      Yes, Kit A is a ton of material! Each step has 64 lessons and I think each lesson could take an entire week (for younger elementary age kids). I plan on doing 1 lesson a week at the most, possibly even splitting a lesson up over several weeks. I'm excited for my kids to learn Spanish but it isn't our main focus and we have plenty of other school work to keep us busy. This will just supplement our school time when we can find the time. I am planning on doing one step/level each year. That will make it last 3 years for us! Of course, we haven't started using it yet so that may change as I get more familiar with the curriculum. I'll do a full review later in the year.

    Do they sell this full box as you are showing it? I can't find it anywhere on their website.

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  6 лет назад

      Yes, it is on their site but hard to find! Click on the "Shop" tab, then on textbooks. Scroll down "Shop by Subject" and click on foreign language. You should see the elementary Spanish COMBINED kit (which takes you to the page that has a combo for Kit A and Kit B). From there you'll need to click on Kit A if that is all you want. OR you can use my affiliate link and go straight to the page you want. ;) www.bjupresshomeschooling.com/site/include.php?id=17&url=143 {affiliate link}
