One of the funniest skits ever and one of the best on going jokes is that they read REAL Bible verses except they have nothing to do with the context of the episode when other verses would be more applicable. I read up their excuse for cancelling it was that it became too expensive to produce and that they blamed the economy for it. But regardless, season eleven was the show's last good season, according to my opinion--after that it just fell into the gutter and pretty much never made a significant recovery.
I believe that is due to FOX being a network television channel, which means they have to follow standards and practices to avoid offending anyone because that would cause the FCC to crack down (unlike Comedy Central, which is a cable channel, hence can get away with almost anything).
The ending is a joke referencing the scandal happening at the Catholic church at the time where some priests were molesting children. Makes me wonder how they got hired in the first place.
