Must have been quite daunting coming out of the tunnel and seeing that black like it was; in the shade, flat light and frozen. No fluff to get an edge and a long way to slide if you lose it. I think you did the right thing side slipping until you got into the sun again. Really appreciate your work by the way. I've just booked St. Anton because of your vids. You're a better advert than the brochures.

Hi and thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. I had been down the black wall a few times so knew what to expect but for those who intended going down the red run and ended up at the black, it's a big difference in level and steepness. Enjoy St Anton and let us know how it goes. Cheers!

That was a fun run until the detour. If it had been me, I would have pitched a tent at the top of the Black Wall, invited intermediate skiers in, and charged rent. Considering the expense of putting in the tunnel as well as the resort bragging rights, it's odd that once you get down the headwall, much of the trail seems not very well done. Curious to know what caused them to close the red trail.

I actually went down the red run just before this one but took the wrong route so thought I'd do it again. I did go through the video and noticed a part of the run had collapsed snow so probably it collapsed further and blocked the piste or they closed it due to a higher avalanche risk.

Will you be making videos of the Grindelwald-Wengen ski area? One of the most beautiful resorts in the world!

I am planning to cover all the best ski resorts in Europe so hopefully get to it soon... Zermatt, Portes du Soleil and Alpe d'Huez are top of the list...will probably do Paradiski and some in Italy this coming season along with skiing some missed trails on the resorts already covered...

Thought you handled that well, calmly made your way down - think I'd have been airlifted! What would happen at the diversion point if you can not ski a black?

I had been down a few times so knew what to expect but this is probably the steepest groomed black in the world at an advertised 104% or 46° slope. I would hope they would call for a snowmobile to transfer any person to the nearest lift if they didn't have the required level...

Have to watch this again where I can 5G coverage and watch this in 4K to experience the elevation not visible in 720HD. Can't believe it had taken the best part of 10mins to ride with you down that. When you turn the cam around to look at your decent, I was holy sh*t and my heart was pounding although to be fair, I should have experience this emotion on the way down because the cam doesn't do this monsterousity any justice. Hopefully I'll sh*t my pants watching this back in 4K.

You are right, it's one thing doing it in real life and another watching the video, which it why I turn around a lot as it gives a better view of the steepness. Unless you've actually skied this one, it's difficult to realise how difficult and steep it really is.

For anyone who is good enough at reds but struggle on blacks, this one would have been very challenging...

Awesome video! Breathtaking views! That looks very steep and challenging. I do not mean to be disrespectful to anybody who considers themselves to be an advanced skier. I consider myself to be an intermediate skier, and I'm very confident I could navigate my way down this mountain without falling or injuring myself. I certainly wouldn't look great doing it, but I would safely make it down. As far as I'm concerned, if you are somebody who would be too afraid to go down this run, you are not an intermediate skier. And going down it doesn't automatically make you an advance skier. I will ski this mountain someday, and hopefully this exact run, and when I get to the bottom, I will still consider myself to be an intermediate skier.

Also depends on snow conditions, be very cautious first time, the video doesn't really show how steep it is....

With my luck, when I'm comfortable on red runs it'll be closed off when I do that run, and I'll have to ski down the black Wall. Joy. 😟

@@ChasingSnow Yeah, a steep drop like going down the North Face of the Iger. 😨

The Black Wall should be left ungroomed so people don’t head up there just to side slip it. Massive bumps would be amazing, requiring no expense for a winched groomer and also keep the Jerries away.

I have skied that piste ungroomed, icy, and as in this video, "skiable"... It's quite challenging and really uncertain about it. I think that they have put a lot of planning into it, so will see how it goes...

What makes you think I don't ski with confidence? There is a big difference skiing a piste with 40% slope and one with 104% slope. You see in the video the 40% slope was closed so everyone was diverted to the 104% slope. Try it one day and let me know what you think...
