- No roads lead to this abandoned mining town, hidden deep in the Black Hills. Now just a few buildings remain, one lonely grave and the spirits of the past.

A very interesting find while we were exploring this town. South Dakota is full of surprises. What other discoveries does this state offer? Click the link to see more "Pins". ruclips.net/video/g_xW2urJQN0/видео.html
The area you're walking through, looks like a great area for camping or having a picnic. So serene and peaceful.
It was so pretty there. No camping allowed but there were dozens of trails criss crossing in the woods. Great for horse back riding too
Not sure Harv. No sign posts anywhere.
@@PinInTheAtlas ok thanks
53 or 54 Ford first car, and next car was a 53 Chevy
So happy to be able to see you again
You too Raymond
WOW that must have been quite the place in its heyday. That graveyard of old cars is something else again.
The lone grave makes me sad, especially due to the circumstances.
Thank you, Andrea and Steven, for another interesting, very enjoyable video.👏👏
It would have been amazing to see it back in the day Rhonda but still beautifully haunting today. That grave was quite sad, but at least the family still goes and takes care of it.
I am astounded by the rats nest you always find. I had no idea, they were everywhere in low lands and higher up. "creepy". Thank you for the great adventure.
We do end up finding some astounding rats nests don’t we Connie. Maybe we will have to put together a compilation vid!
I think that's where Rocky Raccoon used to live!(Beatles song reference)
Awesome place! Thanks for the tour!
Glad you enjoyed it Kerry.
My husband said the first car is a Ford about 54. The second car is a Chevy 53 or 54. He couldn't see the others very well to tell what make or year. Sorry. The truck he said is a 52 or 53 Chevy. Very interesting housing. Very pretty with the wooded trees and grasses. Beautiful place.
Thanks for the info Rose or Thant your husband! This was a very cool spot we enjoyed exploring it very much and the weather was perfect
Great video. Love watching all your videos .Take care and be safe.
Thank you very much Joe. Lots more to come.
You’re making me excited to go back to SD & explore some more! Beautiful footage & very cool watching you both explore the old ghosts.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed our explore. We have more SD videos on our South Dakota playlist to give you more ideas. It certainly is a wonderful state.
Thanks for the adventure!
Thank you for coming along Linda!
Back in the 70's my first car was a 1964 sunbeam Manx . Sweet little ride !!! No kidding !!!🤗🤗✌❤
Hello re watched this again after seeing the short video glad the grandkids did something for there grandpa which some never meet 🙏🤔
Very peaceful place.
The grave intrigued me. That is my late husband's last name and spelled just the same, too. I need to try to find out more about the man buried there. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it Sandy. Wow how fascinating about the name. You must let us know if you find out more.
A very interesting video. I’m glad you shared it. Thank you you two. Stay safe.
You’re welcome Bob. Glad you enjoyed it.
Fascinating look into an abandoned mining camp - very beautiful woodland setting, I imagine it is miles from anywhere.
Deep in the forest but not too far from civilisation. Although probably was back in the day!
Great Jon folks as usual thank you
Thank you Tim.
Pretty awesome gem in the woods.
This video wants me to go and explore the Black Hills more
You should. There are a lot of hidden gems out there.
Nice job once again guys, very interesting to me , Thanks again.
Join us for our live tomorrow if you can. 3pm pst. It’s our very first one. The more the merrier
love it
Thank you.
Another awesome adventure with Pin and my coffee awesome place dang hooligans
So true Ray!!!
Agree with you Steve she is beautiful
Loved this video! The house's were real house's instead of cabins. Everything there was cool! Must have been a ghost in the first one warning you to stay out when that piece fell. I liked the music too. I think 40s for the cars. Thanks excellent find.
Thank you Chris, we loved exploring this one too as it was different. Yes that was bizarre so we stayed out of that one!
Cool spot on the map. I wondered about those autos, all the gold mines would have shut down during WW2 as gold and silver wasn't needed for the war effort. Plus they needed the miners for copper and lead and iron. Got to keep making more death ya know. I was thinking on that 1st house if that large "window" wasn't a door. It looked like the band joist might have rotted away and caused the floor to sluff down, creating a big step.Anyway ....another cool explore by my favorite team. Grave was awesome and i'm glad the grandkids found it and marked it. Cudos to them. And yes Steve some of them fillies look just as good from the back as they do from the front🙂On that note........,see you later.
That is especially true on this one Richard! Very possible about that house. We really really liked seeing the family still care for the grave as well.
@@PinInTheAtlas Hows the Q?
Hey, Hey! 🥳 Happy🥳 New🥳 Year🥳 my friends! Apologies for not being around for a while, but I'm here now! For some unknown reason, this place makes me feel extremely upset & sad. Maybe I used to live here in a past life? Who knows? Anyway my lovelies, great to catch up on your videos again. Please stay safe & take care over there. Love & light always. xx
Well hello there stranger. Was wondering what you’ve been up to. Happy New Year to you too.
This place had a really nice vibe to it actually. Sad that it’s so run down and the hooligans have added to it.
You have a few to catch up on including Patreon. Enjoy!!! Catch you on our next adventure.
I saw this a few months ago but I am enjoying it again. Gramma Candy
Ahh. Thank you Candy. Always good to revisit sometimes.
I am watching this again, I really like it. Your friend Gramma Candy
That's great, so glad you are enjoying it.
Pretty SPOOKY place ✨️
Spooky ! Great vid guys
Thanks Seb.
Lunch - yummy! Another PIN Adventure - grand! Thanks! Gotta scamper off to my fiancé's to meet a contractor to widen the bathroom door for my wheelchair. I so enjoy you taking me on these wonderful experiences!
Glad you came along with us David. It’s always good to hear from you. Good luck with the contractor!
Thank you for bringing us this very interesting video presentation. Though the automobiles were in a very rusty condition, the gleam of the chrome still remained, looking back to happier times. It must be a sad case to leave one's home in that way and find somewhere else, especially difficult to leave the grave of a family member. It is amazing to see the remains of these settlements still extant after all these years, though sadly vandalized. I am sure those that do these things think that they are doing something great but I am sure that there are many who do not share their thoughts.
We certainly don’t share those thoughts as we love seeing these time capsules on the land where they were first settled and not poorly recreated behind glass in an air conditioned building. We hope to capture as many as we can before they are merely distant memories of ghosts.
Looks like the Banditos were there, left their mark on the truck cab! (or just some kid being a dumba$$). Love the old green paint in the house, It seemed to have been very popular in its time. Great video guys! Also, update coming shortly 😉
Probably the latter with the truck cab lol
The his was a cool spot for sure though! Looking forward to the update!
I have heard that in a lot of old mining camps, people would tear out the walls looking for any gold that might have been stashed. Still doesn't excuse the destruction. Could the big building have been a hotel or boarding house?
We’ve heard that too This was vandalism though as it’s a historical site.
They also used to stash their gold in the loo!
It could have been a boarding house. There wasn’t any info on the board
I wish you guys would come to the four corners area and find things we don't know are here
It’s pinned. Just haven’t got around to it yet.
At 3:11, a Ford 1953-1955. At 4::53, the Ford Emblem. At 7:14, where the 2 cars are together, I believe the dark car to the left is a car from the 1940’s because of the straight back on the turtle end. At 7:57, looks to be a Dodge or Plymouth 1950-1953. Happy New Year “2023”!! Keep Safe & Healthy!!! P.S.: would like to see the vehicles in more detail! Thank you.
Thank you Cary and Happy New Year to you too!
So, you are in Columbia. CA? I was just there in 2020..it is a lovely town..and their real graveyard is pretty awesome...grave headstones going back to the 1800s..
We haven’t been to Columbia. Sounds like an interesting place especially with an old graveyard.
This was filmed in South Dakota.
oh yeah, the town is awesome and it looks like several movies were filmed there as well. Columbia is close to Murphy's and Twain Harte to.@@PinInTheAtlas
most interesting
that car was awesome and sad it isnt restored- looks like it was looted
did yall check the trunk?
on a side note- please be careful walking around mines
some of those stopes are mined up to the surface and covered over
one misstep...
could be quite a tumble
abandoned and forgotten places is a great channel for such explo and i am sure he would give valuable insight if you contacted him
be safe, be happy, work hard
peace \m/
The trunk was stuck. We find all the old cars interesting. They don’t make them like they used to.
We’re always very careful in all our explores. You’re right though there’s a lot of hidden dangers.
We teamed up with Gly (Abandoned and Forgotten Places) and collaborated with him and Jeff Williams on an explore. We all made a video on the mine. You should check them out. It was a privilege exploring with the mine professionals.
Andrea and Steven,'
I believe those cars are from the fifties, at least they look like
ones we had around when I was 10 or so.
Some look light forties, like you said.
The house is quite a bit older, lath and plaster walls.
Our farmhouse was built toward the end of the nineteenth century and was the same type inner construction.
It's not recent ,but I hate to see the vandalism, kicked in walls , graffiti.
I wonder if that sign really helps, jerks will ignore it anyway, unfortunately
there's no way to patrol it and there are so many places like that...sad:(.
Thanks ,
Cheers,
Rik
It is sad that people have the destroy mentality. And that is why these incredible locations end up being fenced off with private property signs. We so much love the look of the older homes and the tough hands that built them.
4:52 I tried to look for this vehicle..looks like a Crown over 3 Lions..maybe a British vehicle?
First car, definitely a Ford. I recognize the emblem. But I have a different thought on the cars. You said the name of one of them, was the beast. Not stock cars. Demolition derby. It was popular in the 50s. and 60s.
That is a possibility Ken. Thank you.
Yes Steven the weight of that hood and those Springs from probably 53 are still holding it up
Nascar, stock car, racing. I hope you aren't like that in front of the kids, no child should see their parents in that kind of a blood bath. Lol
Oh! And it was nice of you all to focus comments directly for viewers. That's why you two ROCK!
🤣 thanks Cody. Glad you enjoyed it.
FYI: the emblem stamped into the door sill (first car) is Ford.
Thanks Jan
Red and turquois car from the rear looks like an early 50's Ford. Gramma Candy
I was thinking 1csr an old Mercury, 1953 or so. I thought 2nd was a Dodge around same year?
After the death Henry Ford. They put in 3 cats in some of their cars. That was in the 1950's. Especially the Ford LTD. So the first car is from the 1950's and the emblem had 3 cats. It's a Ford. The last car is from the late 1940's. In the house that was one of a heck of rat nests. That was a real interesting mining camp. The headstone for the single grave isn't from the 1908. It seems to be more recent. I'm curious there wasn't anymore graves there? I give a😀👍
Thanks Wayne. We believe the family has recently placed the headstone as there were some photos of great grandchildren around it that we didn’t show.
I think it's a shame to let the house fall down !
So do we Ronnie.
First car is a mercery about 50 51
Now I reckon that first car wreck you looked at was a 1953 Ford I reckon, shame again they had to be set upon by the vandal brigade but not much we can do about it ay !!!!, well done as usual Cheers.
Unfortunately no it seems, would love to see these places untouched by the disrespectful ones.
First one was a 1953 Mercury. If I had a bit more footage to view of the others, I could probably ID them.
you need to come up to northern nevada some time
We’ve filmed some stuff in the Winnemucca area if you call that north. But we do have a lot more pinned.
we are in battle mountain 52 miles east of winnemucca
We’ve driven through there. Found a neat camp site near a stream
@@PinInTheAtlas lots to see here lived here 45 yrs
If you have any suggestions Deanna please email us at info4pinintheatlas@gmail.com
Second car...53 or 54 chevy,
this might have been an auto dumping site or if someone had auto problems they just parked car and got another one, what do you think? Vandals seem to have painted in all buildings and the slab might be to cover the well, ? hope that this stays secret so less vandals ....
Not sure about the cars. I don’t know how long people continued to live there after the mining stopped.
Try a 1954 ford
First structure was the schoolhouse. At least that's what I was told.
It could be Doug. We couldn’t find any info about it.
Go to: Oatman, Az & Nelson, Nevade
We’ve been to Oatman. Check out our video on it. We also filmed part of R66 and Seligman
If you enjoy reading we’ve done several blogs on the area. www.pinintheatlas.com. Hope you enjoy them.
54 Ford 53 Chevy Could be nice cars
52 to 55 Ford sedan
We knew someone would know. Thanks Gerry.
1955 FORD
it seems somebody is paying lip service to the protection of these old dwellings.
Inaction in this case means destruction, as time will tear down all non restored
cottages anyway. Return in ten years from now, you'll find a pile of planks.
Yes it’s such a shame. We feel more ought to be done to preserve them. Shame the damn hooligans can’t damage their own property!
25:16 Was probably a ses pool for sewage!
Oh didn’t think of that Richard! Sounds plausible. Thanks for info.
Hey Guys....don't be watching the water bottle!
There is no reason the graffiti creeps do this other than they are losers with no respect for other people or their property. This place is in beautiful country and was no doubt unique in its day.
Couldn’t agree more Lorna. She his place is stunningly beautiful and would be even more so if it was left untouched.
Andrea your giving away your age , Granny's Wolsley is from the 20s and 3Os they say age is just a number that's what I keep telling myself in my 70s now , LOL
It wasn’t new They used to have a Bentley
That afifty three ford
First car, 1954 Ford. 2nd, 1952 Chevy bel air,
Seems like no matter how remote , The kids get there with there graffiti. They need to get a life .also those vandels and hooligans
So true
Kids with no real motives. But to destroy something that be of interest to other visitors to this site.
@@michelleharrell8452 don’t understand why people are so destructive. Such a shame 😳
Stock Car Racing is totally different than professionally NASCAR Racing. Look up Stock Car Racing please.
