After so many, many projects of never breaking my yarn when tugging, I broke the 1st strand trying to make the legs on this cute Bunny. I then decided to try my crochet thread instead of yarn. It worked like a charm!
I also use crochet thread to tie my pom poms....so much stronger than yarn! I also finish the pom poms with electrical zip ties. They do not come apart!

That’s a good question. I think it’s because when you do flat panels those three needles don’t knit. I just pay attention to the first one and I actually haven’t done a lot of flat panels. I’m going to start though.

I have to check what needle your referring to but I’m thinking the grey metal one with the loop on the end is the one your likely referring to. Walmart. 3 sizes in a pack for $3.98. Amazon also has them. I think they are called wool needles.

What if I only have a 48 needle machine. What should I do?
Whatever I’ve made on the 22 needle can be done on the 48 if you make a flat panel over 22 needles then sew up the side to make a 22 needle tube.
