My first choice, if I have a little time free to spend listening to tenors, is Corelli, with Jose a very close, very different, second. Jose's singing is just so beautiful, so distinctive, so profoundly satisfying.
Corelli's high notes are more thrilling in this aria but Carreras still. manages a good showing with his lyric and emotive way in a difficult to sing aria. Bravo,Jose and thanks for this video!

Verdi scrive, in riferimento all'ultima frase, "pp morendo" e non ppp. Anche Bergonzi, in varie registrazioni, soprattutto dal vivo, "spara" a tutta voce il Si bemolle finale (tra l'altro pronunciando ridicolmente "Un trono vicino al Sciol"). Carreras ha uno splendido timbro e canta, qui, egregiamente.

No es la voz para Radamés. Mario del MOnaco escuchó el telecast desde Salzburg, lo denominó "el Nemorino del Nilo". Voz muy lírica y delicada, no hay esmalte en el centro y el agudo carece de metal.
Mario del Monacos Radames was the loud warrior only. Where was the Lover? It was non existent. You cannot only shout your way through Radames. Its a blend of Warrior and Lover combined. Without one or the other, its a Failure. Carreras manages to combine both.
