  • An easy and affordable way to save energy and on your heating bills by fitting reflective radiator foil, it works by reflecting any heat that normally finds its way into the wall behind your radiator back and up into your room. You can fit this foil to virtually any radiator and only need some time and basic tools to complete the job, we bought our foil from Screwfix, it comes on a large roll and is around £6 at the time of making this video November 2019. After fitting the radiator reflective foil we noticed an immediate improvement in the room, so well worth doing.

    Between the bed and the heater at least 20 cm distance . Thus, the heater can heat better. ^^

    My radiators have pipes coming out of the wall at back of radiators, centre then out to valves so I have not got a clear space. ☹️

    I remember this being a thing back in the late 70's.
    obviously material is far more advanced these days, but if you had the money you would get the reflective stuff, otherwise you would use old cardboard boxes.it does work.
    for £6 to do three radiators it's not bad value at all.definitely buying!

    Great video. But what if you have a radiator that is attached to your wall and behind a removable vented grate?

    Does the foil need to be taped to the wall or can it just hang loosely like in the video? Is there any fire risk?

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  3 года назад +1

      No, it just sits behind the radiator and no fire issues thanks.

      Most recommend tape, when it first came out it was fitted with wall paper adhesive, will work always. So pin with drawing pins, but support the corners with a small piece of cello tape.

    Will tin foil do the same job if foil on thin cardboard?

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  2 года назад +1

      The foil would reflect the heat, so I think it actually would.

    Ia this relevant for concrete walls or only for wood structured homes ?

    • @Chequr_Prostate
      @Chequr_Prostate 3 года назад

      All walls that absorb heat, better on external walls. Not sure it would be worth fitting on a tiled wall tbh.

    Don't you own a Tape Measure? Plus this is the cheap foil backing, there are thicker better backing foils out there....

    Do we really need the performance of how to cut enough foil ? It is surely common sense. Instantly you can feel more heat coming into the room ? What with your face 2mm from it? Hahahahahahah .nice one .

    • @DanielJohnHowTo
      @DanielJohnHowTo  3 года назад +12

      It's not really about cutting foil , the video is about how to save energy with the foil and how easy it is to install.

    • @moneoo88

      I just installed mine and I could tell the difference immediately standing half meter from the radiator
