Well this absolutely made my day on two fronts, first is you’re finally in the G90 fraternity second but most importantly is that you’re taking action on your health. I’m 10 years older than you and just lost my best friend unexpectedly to a heart attack. It’s a shocker and a wake up call that we’re not invincible anymore. Stay hard and on your journey Tim, I want us both to be commenting on each other’s videos for many years to come my friend.
We do need to be a bit careful about it though. I knew one person in their 20s and one in their 40s who collapsed and died while out exercising. As a man around the same age as Tim and very unfit, where a cycle ride a few years ago had me end up in the Royal Surrey Hospital, I'm very conscious now on not overdoing it. Hope your wife's doing ok Walt.
Hi Tim. Glad you're well and inspired to stay that way. I am just a couple of years your junior and life's fragility now more apparent. I'm keen to do some operating outside my garden and look forward to your new videos. I always enjoy your material. I think it's your lack of arrogance and not assuming the celebrity status that so many others become afflicted by. Anyway, best wishes. I'm sure I will learn or enjoy your next video, please keep them coming.

Welcome back Tim! I love my G-90 such an amazing rig at the price point. I am looking forward to what your channel will bring in the near future. 73 DE N7BYD
I bought a G90 recently and its been very good. I am 57 and lost a stone in weight over the past 28 months. A combination of slight diet changes, a brisk walk each day, doing a 10 minute weights routine at home five days a week. I have put on myscle which helps burn the calories. I found flexibility exercises useful to get me moving too. Its been a gradual weight loss. My dad had a heart attack when he was 40! Thats what got me into ham radio. My mum bought him a radio to listen to in hospital and i got it when he came out.
Nice to see you back Tim, hope you have more luck with the G90 than I had. Worked only for 5 weeks, Xiegu said NO guarantee because it was used outdoors !
Wise move Tim and good luck with it. I have a genetic heart condition and eating healthily, keeping weight down and exercising has surprised my doctors that I've lived to 72 and am still active. So, you are doing all the right things. I, too, have a G90 but use a FT818 for backpack work. I wish you good health and will follow your progress with interest. 73 Ace
Great to hear ! I was 47 when I had a heart attack , wasn't classed as over weight , though it was creeping up and was physically fit through work and outdoor activities . Not a typical candidate for heart issues , like you I changed my eating the main thing was I completely cut out confectionary (refined sugar) from my diet , I quickly lost what little weight I had to loose without and that was not the main goal, getting my radio licence about 3 years ago also got both my wife and I back into our regular fell walking through me doing SOTA and we both turned 60 recently and are feeling fit. The xeigu G90 is often in the rucksack alongside the 2M gear /P with home made antennae , is definitely my favourite way to operate .
Hi Tim, I think I’m about the same age as you and have a number of radios to get out and about with so you’ve inspired me to do the same. I shall watch your journey with interest!
Great to see you back and great to see you join the G90 community. In terms of health, starting today my recovery challenge after breaking my hip and shoulder 7 weeks ago. We just get stronger. By the way I am 67👍🇨🇭
Ah a G90 - great little radios .I have just got mine as well and am busy learning how to use it . Don't do as I did and accidentaly set it to split ! Also they like good antennas even though the tuner will tune anything. The reception at my noise plagued QTH is outstanding with excellent filtering. 73 M7BLC

Good to see you again Tim. Enjoy the hiking. Best activity for fitness along side swimming I believe. Looking forward to more vlogs on antennas etc. I need to attend to fitness as well. Not many hills around here! 😫 Phil, Suffolk.
Welcome back Tim, glad you enjoyed your nice break away, not missed much here, HF has been awful over the summer which is not unusual but the lack of 10m sporadic E traffic has been sad to see as everyone seems to be on FT8 now. I've been concentrating on setting up the VHF/UHF side of the shack as it's been over a year since home access, which has also given me back access to use my SDR for airband & others. Also been getting into the Meshtastic world setting up a few nodes here. Cheap bits of kit which would be interesting to take out on your walks. Like you also decided on a lifestyle change this year & lost 1 1/2 stone since march without living on just celery & dust. So best of luck. Hope to make contact with you sometime soon on the G90, cracking radio and seems to hear more QRP stations on these than any of the other traditional rigs out there. 73. Jim 2E0HKM
Wonderful Tim! Obviously I’m not in uk hills but anything or questions on the hiking/hillwalking/SOTA side you’re wondering about, let me know 😊 You’ll find this will also motivate your antenna making/designing towards light and carryable which I might benefit from too! 😅 You’re dead right on the boots… should be one of the, if not the most expensive part of your kit. 👌🏻

Hi Tim. I'm 51 and started going to the gym around two years ago doing progressive overload (weight) training. I would highly suggest that you look into it, since in addition to weight/heart conditions taking out many men, building a base of muscle and maintaining it as you get older can mean a world of difference when it comes to mobility, and helps with other areas like insulin resistance, maintaining healthy testosterone levels, etc. While I've had to eat a lot more to build up muscle, overweight people can at least initially use the fat stores to build muscle. Furthermore, if you've never done it before, the first 6-12 months will give you the maximum gains, which tends to slow down after about two years of doing it. In any case, best of luck with your fitness adventure!
The south face of Kingley Vale isn't much easier coming down than it is going up. There'a a good slighlty longer route up on the path that leads directly towards the trig where there are a couple of quiet clearings. Good luck!
Morning Tim. Its excellent you are combining your love for amateur radio and the great outdoors. Please consider your diet, as I've found that even running 15km/week was not enough to drop off the weight, if you don't eat properly also. We need you around for many years to come 😁😁
