The workshop gave us an opportunity to learn how to carve into stone for future possible DIY projects. It was tough but a fun experience. We hope you enjoy. (sorry about the wind sounds, we are working on improving our recording skills!)
Thank you once again for taking the time to watch our video and for your kind comment. Out of curiosity is the "san" in "garagemonkeysan" the Japanese term?
Those are really cool. As a little guy my dad made me a stamp from an eraser. Obviously not the same longevity, but I put my stamp on everything! Lol 👍🍻
@@TheGrantAlexander by the time he gets older, you projects will be building giant warehouse woodshop, milling trees and other giant structures. This is the perfect project to make now and give to him at the right age! :-)
That is an extremely insightful question, which I had never thought of asking about before. In reality there are several different types of stamps. Some used for day to day purposes such as signing for packages while others are used for signing contracts, wedding license, etc. It also take around 3 days to get one and have it registered so I assume you can do it at any age , as long as you have a need to stamp a document. You intrigued me so I started researching and I found great pages about the various hankos but none indicate an age limitation. Sorry!
I have always know about the hankos, when I lived in Japan but I had never heard of a workshop that allowed you to make one yourself, so it was very special.
Great job guys! my culture lesson for the week is complete and I got to see another DIY project, as well as some cool scenery! Now get working on that guest suite! LOL
Thank you Chuck! We enjoy your kind comments as well as the humor you add. I am disappointed that you have not gone back and watched all of our older videos or you would have seen that two of our larger projects we completed were making Murphy beds in our two spare "guest suites". The suites have been completed long ago and are waiting for actual guests to arrive. :-)
Ms Kim, we attended several years ago (pre COVID). It was held in a rented office space with a couple tables. I think we were one of the first to sign up. I tried to find the info for you but have had no luck. They may have decided to close down. You can go to Trip Advisor and search Hanko making. There are options available in different locations Japan

@@Poor_Mans_DIY Hi, yes it is. GMS is a handle I used when I started my Instructables account back in 2008. : )
Very interesting! I had no idea! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so very much for the encouragement. We greatly appreciate it
That looked like great fun my friends. Never knew about Hankos before. Really interesting 😉 ॐ
Wood Yogi, we thank you for watching our video and are pleased that it was informative... even if you never hear of a Hanko again. :-)
Very cool, I love learning new stuff. Cool video, cool channel.
Thank you so very much for your kind words. We are truly humbled and greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like a project you need to do for your son! We look forward to seeing what you make for him! :-)

@@Poor_Mans_DIY hahahah! I don't think I will ever be lucky enough to have a giant warehouse woodshop!
Beautiful set , and welll made videos, well done
Thank you so very much for the kind words. We are truly humbled and greatly appreciate it.
You're going to need to handwrite some letters this coming Christmas so you can stamp some stuff! Cool project.
Great idea using our stamps in Christmas card. Since I am too lazy to write cards, I will ask Mrs Poor Man to do it. LOL
That is an awesome idea. If you want to learn to carve, that would be a great way to do it.
Thank you so very much for viewing and commenting. We truly appreciate it!
@@Poor_Mans_DIY I am glad I can help. I like to support people that are working hard. Keep up the good work.
That’s such a creative idea I love it! Fantastic work keep it up😊
Thank you for your kind words and for viewing. We sincerely appreciate it!
This looked like a lot of fun! Do you know at what age people typically get their stamp? Is it from birth or later on in life?

That is something I’d never heard of before. Very cool that you two got to experience that!

Very well done both. Interesting little project. I didn’t know about these until now. Great work 🙌🏻😊
Thank you so much! We strive to DIY projects, Hawaii and useless trivial info. LOL! Kidding aside, thank you for watching our video!
