Have you heard of David Long? He developed ALG "automatic language growth" at AUA in Bangkok. He talks about how pronunciation and grammar can be negatively affected (in some cases permanently) by trying to talk to soon without enough "comprehensible input" (at least 600 hours worth).
These are my favourite kind of videos where you go out and interact with the Thai community. Could you you do more like this please
Good content and really real human interaction. Thank you, inspiring for language learning.
55555 "We cannot gossip" 😂😂😂
Lolllllllllllll
That is a very common retort for some reason. They also appreciate polite Thai.
@@villagefarang Thais love gossip krub, lol
@@josephgee2515Actually most nations do that too when they have a chance, LoL 😂
Really enjoyed this vlog. You making the Aunties laugh is a classic. Thanks Paddy.
the warm genuine reactions of the thai's upon hearing you speak their language never fails to put a smile on my face. Thanks mate for being such a free soul
Paddy: doing his bit for tourism in Darwin and reminding us of all the hard working people who keep the country running
That's right ! Not like these keyboard tapping suit wearing morons in the big cities !!
Paddy should be Australian ambassador for Australian Embassy in Thailand
I will have to ask the Aus Govt and see what they can do! 😂 Thanks for watching Jay!
Great fun Paddy. I think you won a heart with the girl from Surat Thani.
That was truely a joy to watch!
Loving the Darwin content Paddy !
So glad you are!
I’m Thai . I like the way you are positive thinking about Thailand 🙏🏿🙏🏽🙏🙏🏻. I’ve been to Darwin a few times when I was as the crew’s member. It was hot like Thailand, but it’s unique( in the good way)🌻🌻🌻💋🚗
Noooo, need more content like this! Great video, all the ladies were super nice and the young Thai girl was really sweet. I like this style of video, just feels fun to watch. Thanks
Everyone was SUPER nice! Thanks for watching (as always)
Sweet means cute right? 😂
A bit prejudice.... Just saying!
They all seem very friendly, wishing I could speak Thai, it feels daunting
I really love these videos of yours)) I'm smiling the entire video. The young lady at 10:12 from Samui is so nice)) I'm on Samui island right now -- it feels like home.
Love these kind of videos Paddy! Am also picking thai up currently it really always surprises them when someone of a different nationality speaks thai! I always watch your videos especially the when where you went to the market and chose the kanom dom and chose the si kiao coloured one Haha! Make more of these videos mate! Jer gannn Krub
Very glad you enjoyed it and managed to pick up along the way!
Honestly, this one brought tears to my eyes. Rapid Creek market was the only place that relived the constant home sickness for Chiangmai. Its like a breath of fresh air speaking to the Thai market folk's. Never fluent like yours Paddy but a few words makes all the difference. There's been a huge increase of Asians coming to Darwin for the last 12 years. The market needs a change of location, size, and frequency. Have you been to Rustys market in Cairns yet?
A very nice family owned outdoor restaurant opened a couple years ago near Selephun, Roiet province (Isaan). One of the family members ( owner) has lived in Darwin for many years. It was the first time I heard of a Thai living in Darwin. I visited Darwin over 30 years ago- very humid and hot and a special wildlife habitat from most of Australia. Totally different than Sydney.
You have a gift to charm those ladies, Paddy.
This vid is so fun!!
Thanks for watching!!
Ahhh Darwin....so many memories for me in the early 90's . I shipped out of their by plane to Troughton Island and then locked up for 4 weeks on exploratory rigs or floating offshore production facilities. Dry workplace, so monk like abstinence until the trip home. So many drunken adventures ( Travelodge Darwin bar had pics of the rigs on the walls back in the day). Loved the video, Thais are so industrious.
I really enjoyed watching this as always good content paddy 😊
Thanks Adam!
Great video. And what a great tourism advertisement for Thailand. Such friendly people. You can see why they call The Kingdom "The land of smiles" I know a lot of Australia Thai people probably know you by now. But it's still always funny to see their faces when you slip from English to Thai.
Thank you for representing the Aussies so well and in such a good light. There is this undertone of racism in the country and I don't think it's fully warranted.
I think kinda the same as Thailand. There are actually quite alot of Thais who aren't very fond of farang. If you've lived in Thailand as long as I have, you'd know 😢
@Shaz-Daz A lot of Westerners go to Thailand for a different reason and do not respect the Thai culture.
Nice video。。。。Fr the people's communication, i can learn some thai language. Thanks
Creating a headline that talks himself up because he can speak Thai “fluently” Lame and cringe
Paddy, so good, loving the videos, please keep them coming, and... Paddy will become a polyglot for sure !
Thanks so much for watching!
Paddy, passion fruit is my favorite fruit on the planet. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙋🏻♂️🇺🇸🤝🇦🇺
Awesome Thai mate! Your videos are helping me learn! I am aussie too but living in Thailand currently as a half Thai.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA She said I have a niece!!! GO for it, Paddy!
lol 4 baht 50 I was like “what? Oh dollar”
Yea I was like WAIT WHATS THE PRICE?
I lived in Darwin until 1994
Now cambodia
Their seems to be a happy moment seared between individuals communicating with each other, preferably on an agreeable subject in the same language. I will look into ling to see if it will help me to communicate to others.
Loved the video Paddy. Everyone was so friendly. What is cooling powder?
Agree Many Other...Great Content from Thai People in AussieLand......... Keep it up Paddy
I loved the one comment from the first lady, "Is your mother Thai?" 😂 Great job with this video, Paddy. Keep up the good work.
HAHAHHAHAHAHA I died at this question too.
Look , it's the Australian Farang, and he's back in Thai Market in Darwin!!.. Sawadeekrup!😁
Im Thai and this is so heartwarming 😊 to see how you interact to them and their reaction to your thai is soooo fun ❤ and i just know about Darwin from your video! Cool place indeed.
very fluent and clear pronunciation
Like this style of video a lot! Great stuff Paddy!
This was fun. Really good to see a vibrant multicultural market in Darwin.
I am literally eating passion fruit as I watched this video. Amazing stuff. I certainly wish I could speak Thai, like you can. Thanks.
"I AM NOT A PLAYBOY!" 🤣
Those were some of the most heartfelt interactions I've seen with you just walking through a market. The "playboy" conversation with the two women was just adorable! Lots of great content here. 🥰
Please sneak in a 5th video...even it's just stuff you had cut from the first 4......loved this Darwin series....awesome job :)
I wish I could! not enough material haha
I wish I could! not enough material haha
Potatoes, peanut sauce...
You're making massaman curry!
That lady was making somtum. I'm jealous!
Dying for a bowl of somtum. But due to my current health and medical issues, I won't be going to Thailand for a little while.
Thank you for the video.
Makes me want to achieve one of my bucket list things even more now - laksaon the beach at dawn in Darwin.
Cheers.
You were bang on Chris!
Love this format and seeing there is more to Australia than the East coast megalopolis.
Loved this format Paddy. It was fun and chilled. Real interactions
Thank you
For sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Excellent video. I like the format : speaking thai and the translation.
Need to get back to Darwin!
Your Thai has really improved over the years, I gotta say. Truly awesome to watch! Bless ya Paddy 🙏
I love to watch your video! It's so relaxing to watch after long day work 👍🏻👍🏻
These are the type of migrants UK and Europe need. Hard working and no religious bullshit.
American Leashed Kangaroos have learn to speak by themselves 😂😂😂
ahhhh ... have been waiting for this content! loved it. the vibes were great as the ladies and the thai girl in this vid were really sweet and seemed fun to interact with. its so fun to watch this type of content. great work paddy!
This is good Paddy, you should do a few in Thailand too. I lived in Bangkok , or rather Bang Kapi near the mall in Happyland... I so loved it there.
Paddy: Please, how do you say this sentence in Thai "I was adopted by Swedish parents when I was 6 weeks old and I grew up in Sweden and I don't speak much Thai", please? If I went to Thailand, I'd be using this sentence a lot
Paddy, you should be living in Thailand again, spend time amongst Thais. Then your Thai tones and pronunciation would improve greatly. It already sounds good but still long way to go. Thought about that?
That type of fluency, you're not getting simply by living in Chiang Mai for one year. There's more to 'the Paddy story' than you're letting on but your Thai is quite good, there's no disputing that.
Thanks Paddy and the people in the video.
Darwin aint that small , I mean it hasnt got a large population but it IS the gateway to Australia from the North. As to the most Asian city, that would go to Hurstville , a city in Sydney.
I have been subscribed to you for years. I never comment, but love your videos. I absolutely love this style and I am currently learning Thai. Great listening practice in natural speak. Keep it up.
Honestly means so much! Thanks for the kind comment
Their seems to be a happy moment seared between individuals communicating with each other, preferably on an agreeable subject in the same language. I will look into ling to see if it will help me to communicate to others.
That was awesome, Paddy. I like this format. Thanks. So now you need to learn all of the languages that are represented at that market :).
yikes!
Living 15 years with a thai partner and been to Thailand so many times and probably know only 3 words
You should star of speaking English then supprise them
all of the produce....$5 in Thailand. I love Thailand
Really great video Paddy! More like this please
Singburi, the place of Bangrajun memorial.
Nice vdo clip, keep it up. Already subscribed.
so much Thai I love it! :)
Omg 8$ for 2 tomatoes. No wonder she’s retiring
Nice format Paddy, more like this one.
Thanks Andrew!!
You can already tell the way the young lady gave the money in your hand at 12:16 that she didn't felt akward. When you speak the language there is a connection. Thanks for the upload !
Great direction of content
Awesome thank you 🙏🏻
Love it ❤
Love these market interactions.
You are an inspiration to us all
thanks for watching Mikey!
Paddy, you are so cute❤❤😊
Is your mother Thai. Is your father Thai…….. I don’t think so.
Nice video Patrick,
Dad
Nice ❤❤
So cute ❤❤
Love the style of video, Paddy. You don't need to feel pressure to produce just one type of content, e.g. interviews. Whatever you do, it shall be invaluable to both Thai and English learners alike.
👍👍👍
I think the working holiday girl at the smoothie shop liked you 😉 great vid as usual paddy. Really inspiring for me to see your Thai skills.
8:40 Paddy says he's single. 9 seconds later, we see why! (Zero follow-up to the woman who says she has a niece.)
I' m Asian living in Sweden. Today I ordered food in perfect swedish. Got my food without noone was surprised by my perfect swedish🤔🤔
