I have just had my Permobil m3 arrive about four weeks ago. As other's have said, the colours can just pop out to change to a different one. I had my OT & two Tech guys come out on the day of delivery & they were so helpful. They had me sit in the chair while they adjusted everything to suit my size & body shape. It was a funny day with them all fussing over me. It comes with many extra's too. They told me all of them (I can't remember most) but the only one I got was a drink holder on the left side as I love water & drink heaps of it. I had done a test drive on a 'none pimped' out one some weeks before so I knew what it was like. My adult son was there too so my OT wanted me to ride it down to the corner, cross at the lights, then come home again. It must of looked funny with me in my chair with four men walking next to me. Then it started to rain so they put the umbrella's over me & when we got home, I was nice & dry & they were all wet!! lol. My colour is red. I love it so much. I hope Micah is having a great time with her's.
I know I’m way late but I’m a disability advocate. I am also Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2020 and I was looking for a cup holder installation video for my Permobile and I was really happy that I came across this video. They way you allowed her to make her own decision and made sure her voice was heard was amazing. Lots of people just tell us in the chair sorry we made this mistake you’re just going to have to live with it. And some remind us of all the trouble it would cause to chose to send for the correct things. We get deemed as picky and uncooperative but able bodied people can chose to send back something when it’s simply just the wrong color without judgement. This piece of equipment like chairs are not a light pick. Careful consideration goes into this stuff down to the color. Chairs for us are like wearing the same pants every single day. The fit needs to be right, durable, and enjoyable. I love that she stood her ground and chose to wait on her orange chair because that will be most satisfying for her comfort. Thank you for sharing!
I'm a wheelchair user the company was supposed to put tilt on my chair I waited almost 6 months before I could get a new evaluation because I didn't have them take it back hard lesson learned I too live in Texas I've learned from this experience I don't have a permobile I think their ugly and expensive I have a quantum rival its comfortable I'm happy with it now!

There are so many options for the type of joystick piece that moves the chair. He appears to know little about simple options and these important pieces should have been ironed out way before that chair was even ordered. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the guy that got that color wrong on the paperwork he sent in and not Permobil. You can tell this guy wanted her to just take the chair. HE should have called Permobil about the incorrect color before he even went out to this client's home. As a courtesy, she should have been notified that it would take a little longer to get the correct color.
I've been thinking for years that there must be many options for joysticks. We have had the same problem with that tiny piece always coming off.... every single power chair. So annoying. A few years ago he started giving me a few of those pieces at a time so that I can replace them when them they fall off and get lost. The Permobil is so expensive that I wondered if maybe there wasn't as option to change from the standard without costing more. Them insurance wouldn't pay. I have no idea. But I've wondered. Lol Thank you for your input on all of this!
Not sure he knows too little. I have a DME-type person (in Canada...sure they don't call them DME's here) and his heart truly isn't in his job. He has ripped me off more times than I can count and over charged me for certain things. To some people, it's just a 9 to 5 job.
Actually Permobil itself has about 6 joysticks to choose from I know I’ve had their chairs for about 19 years and yes all the blue parts just pop off and other colors can be popped in they are called shrouds

It makes for easy way for them to change colors and such most of the chair is black then where there is color it's a piece of plastic they just pop in and out
Yup, ya just about want to hit supposedly trained techs, who have no idea that the chair can be ordered from permobil with many different joystick stalks. And that he brought a blue chair hoping you would be desperate enough to take it, is just sad.
What happened, did someone not do their homework? How could they send out the wrong colour chair? For all they knew, Micah could have been struggling with a really unsuitable chair and that could have been a huge disappointment.
+Matthew Smith Hey Matthew! Rick, the guy in the video, said he told the sales rep over the phone and sent him an email to change the blue to orange. The blue must be some kind of autofil or something. The guy still didn't change it. I agree with you about the possibility of unsuitable chair or disappointment. Actually, the loaner chair she's in is a terrible fit for her. We have pillows behind her back. She got a very big bruise on the inside one of her knees from trying to constantly push herself back into her seat. I'm thankful that Micah seems ok about waiting for her chair. She's a good sport. She was laughing after coming into the house yesterday. I asked her if she's excited to get her new chair and she said yes. :)

@@TameraWeeks1 Not true you might try quantum wheelchairs these wheelchairs are supposed to be custom you can even put a ball or anything to adapt the joystick or move it closer their are some that has a hinge to put a joystick in any position this guy is ignorant I highly recommend you watch squirmy and grubs RUclips channel his permobile joystick is modified for him and whoever did the evaluation was an idiot too I have arthrogryposis and have had 3 power chairs fight for what you need its ok to ask questions I had to fight for a tilt on my power chair the chair usually has several different types of joysticks and it makes me mad when people say take it or leave it!

Does your State have a medicade waiver program I live in Texas arthrogryposis is a congenital birth defect that causes club feet and hands missing muscles and fixed joints its similar to muscular dystrophy I receive home health 5 days a week this program will keep me out of a nursing home I'm an amputee and with this program will pay for afos and a prosthetic leg they also provide home delivered meals I hope she has meds to keep her out of pain chronic pain is an issue with adults with disabilities she may not be able to voice it to you winters are difficult keep a look out for that also your daughter is so beautiful with a nice smile thank you for not putting her in a nursing home I was in once after a fall its extremely difficult because I'm only 35 your awesome!,😍
This is terrible for you! We go through a tech guy at a pharmacy who orders all equipment for Micah. We could also go through wheelchair company's here in town. After we contact our tech guy, he gets a prescription from Micah's doctor and then submits an order to insurance. It's a very simple process for us. And it should be for you too. You need someone to help you pick out the right chair that is quality for you. This might not be helpful to you at all but this is how we get Micah's wheelchairs. The tech guy picks one out. The Permobil Micah has now was actually picked out by our RUclips subscribers! Several people recommended this brand.

When I purchased my last chair I ordered it ruby red and it came back as polish titanium. The company offered to send it back and have it repainted or they would take $2,000 off the cost of the chair if I settled for the titanium..... Sold!
Permobile has a big yellow ball that fits where the joy stick is. That I have on mine that makes it so much easer. It alows you operate the chair with the palm of your hand.
I am in the process of getting a new permobile f3 and tey gave me the ball for the demo. When thay picked up the demo they let me have the ball for my m300

What brand of seating does she have and what seating products? Is it easy to fit custom seating onto Permobil wheelchairs? I was thinking of the Permobil M3 or M5.

I am surprised they didn't have her test it out for comfort to make sure nothing else needed to be ordered. Sorry that mistake was made. That like the last cushion I ordered was too big. It's like how does this happen when u have the order in front of u lol

That's what you guys told me to get Micah. :) Micah's PT and I met Rick at a warehouse without Micah. I don't think he had a Permobil. Have me some printouts with info. Rick emailed plus told the guy on the phone to change the color from blue to orange. It must have had an autofil or something. Sounds like a bad sales rep to me. It's ok. At least the chair came in. You put them back to back to compare sizes....not just say 'no, it doesn't look it' as Rick says. I mean if there are plenty of joystick options... and he said 'no'...he lost his credibility right there. Why didn't you get to keep it and he just bring the snap ons back? Maybe there is something else wrong with it like it is the wrong size. I often wonder if DME's don't bring out used items...and charge insurance for a new one 🤔.
I dont get it when he says there aren't alot of choices when it comes to joysticks, isnt that a regular pop-off joystick (If you pull it straight up it comes loose)? If so then permobil have plenty of choices, last time I saw a rep from permobil he had a padded suitcase filled with different kinds, regular joysticks,soft balls, sticks, Ts, you name it.
I have wondered about the choices, but haven't checked them out. Maybe insurance wouldn't cover something different? I have no idea, but I have asked him many times because it's so annoying to have that piece "pop off". Yeah, that's what she has.
kinda cheap for the cost just send a new chair. its obvious the blue button accents that are probably orange on the joytick won't be changed out. Just order a whole new chair.

You know what? I was just thinking maybe a joystick handle may help. Bodypoint make them. www.bodypoint.com/ECommerce/category/power-chair-components/joystick-handlesI had the same problem when trying to use joystick handles with my hands slipping off and the handle digging in to my palm. Maybe a U shaped one will be OK? Or maybe a wheelchair control assesment would help. Alfredo and anyone who's with me has to drive my chair for me as I don't have the strength in my arms . I saw this other handle called the Ergo Joystick. It's on a website called ErgoJoystick.com.
@@TameraWeeks1 well, lack of padding and they look...well, cheap. You (or whomever) spend HOW much...yet they can't put decently stuffed arm rests on? I know of someone who got the 2021 F3...and that chair costs $37,000.00. The flat armrests are wider than the tires and take up more room making it harder to get in and out of rooms.

Invacare have the same shrouds system. So it should be easy to change. Permobil is my dream wheelchair

Be careful with vendor salesman .. a lot of I think so. Is not good. They should have just brought orange they did same thing to me.

I have a meru cow horn joystick handle which might work for her as her wrist might go into the dip instead of pressing on the regular knob.

Oftentimes the wheelchair itself so customized to the individual that it's impossible to truly test drive one before you buy it

I have an M3. Mine is blue. They are huge chairs, I hate that about them.

I dont get it when he says there aren't alot of choices when it comes to joysticks, isnt that a regular pop-off joystick (If you pull it straight up it comes loose)? If so then permobil have plenty of choices, last time I saw a rep from permobil he had a padded suitcase filled with different kinds, regular joysticks,soft balls, sticks, Ts, you name it.
I have wondered about the choices, but haven't checked them out. Maybe insurance wouldn't cover something different? I have no idea, but I have asked him many times because it's so annoying to have that piece "pop off". Yeah, that's what she has.

kinda cheap for the cost just send a new chair. its obvious the blue button accents that are probably orange on the joytick won't be changed out. Just order a whole new chair.

Hi Tamera and Micah! I was just thinking of you and wondering if Micah had her new chair yet. Shame about the color. It's a pretty hard mistake to make if the forms have all the colors on as I know they do. Chair & seating look good though. Looking forward to seeing the right color chair.

You know what? I was just thinking maybe a joystick handle may help. Bodypoint make them. www.bodypoint.com/ECommerce/category/power-chair-components/joystick-handlesI had the same problem when trying to use joystick handles with my hands slipping off and the handle digging in to my palm. Maybe a U shaped one will be OK? Or maybe a wheelchair control assesment would help. Alfredo and anyone who's with me has to drive my chair for me as I don't have the strength in my arms . I saw this other handle called the Ergo Joystick. It's on a website called ErgoJoystick.com.

@@TameraWeeks1 well, lack of padding and they look...well, cheap. You (or whomever) spend HOW much...yet they can't put decently stuffed arm rests on? I know of someone who got the 2021 F3...and that chair costs $37,000.00. The flat armrests are wider than the tires and take up more room making it harder to get in and out of rooms.

Some wheelchair techs have no heart in their job...I mean for me to go out of my way looking and it's not my job....anyway: 'Permobil F3 1st Error Message'...the name of the channel is 'How I Roll'.
