Theme parks can keep old railroad crossings alive. Six Flags is a huge example. They use vintage railroad crossing signals and bells on their railroads.
And meanwhile Six Flags over Georgia has two teenagers and some plastic chains. And once the chains are up one of them walks over to the control "gazebo" and turns on the signals manually with a specialized rotary switch designed to not break their 4-inch long press-on nails.
The newer bells don’t fit well with tourist railroads and park railroads. At least this railroad still has a lot of ding ding bells which require more maintenance which is why a lot of crossing bells are being replaced with ebells on major railroads.
I absolutely love running that Porter locomotive. It's a little tight in the cab..... but it's a joy to pull that throttle. Of the two we have, Patton's stack talk is the best.
Don’t be fooled by Cedar Fair. They did the same thing here in Ohio, and claimed the same thing. I found out they bought our Six Flags, shut them down, and never merged with them. Hell, Cedar Fair didn’t even repurpose the land Six Flags was on. Cedar Fair is just like Walmart, and Disney, they want to buy out all of the competition, and own everything so nothing can compete with them. I’ve hated Cedar Fair since I was 12 for what they did to Six Flags (I have a lot of memories there ). It’s been almost 20 years since I told Cedar Fair to f**k off.
The only thing that would’ve made those wishbone gates even better would’ve been if they had the little red lantern lights hanging from the cords that used to be on them. Some great history there.
I would honestly love to go to a park and just railfan and when I'm done, I just go on the swings and wait for another train. Why can't Minnesota have these? :(
When I first came to six flags and the exact crossing it had a GS Type 2 bell I think and it got replaced by a WCH type 3 or 2 when I came there for the 3rd time
it’s the home of the classic railroad crossings and at 0:08 the first (not the second) it looks different like the bracket and why is it orange💀and so many black n’ white gates
I wonder if one of these signals are actually from the location of this video (It has similar mounting and mechanism type) ruclips.net/video/WmujPyD52d0/видео.htmlsi=v2h_9LhITE5GEsiv

Wishbone gates... teardrop bells... WIG WAGS... this place has it all

I’ve been to that theme park before and I was surprised Six Flags had a WCH E-Bell on one of their crossings.

The fact they have wishbone gates is amazibf
This year Six Flags and Cedar Fair are merging. I live near a small park owned by Cedar Fair since July 1992.

i see some of the crossing have new barrier gates, its been years since ive been there
I like the old equipment for American railroad crossings

I never saw RR signals that had green targets, or gates that came down on the wrong side!
The one at Cedar point is pretty dope too

The first set on the left painted lights appear to be griswold
heyy what are you doing here
Those offset signals and gates look like the ones off the old PRR pan handle in Indiana.
Nice video, Like.
Thank You
Sad to see them modernizing😢
Cool
This is awesome
