What do they do all day? What do they read about? If they read the Bible, what do they do about parts that say “go out and spread the word” or “go out and help others”. Genuine question. I’m Orthodox
@@RUclipsrr285 Well, in new priests go and "train" in Mount Athos. They do every day chores like cooking, farming, laundry, built/repair, carve wood as decorations,do iconography, etc, and most importantly, they pray and do liturgies. When q priest has stayed there, idk how much time they spent there, they are granted the rank of a Monk. After that they can start doing liturgies outside Mount Athos and climb the ranks. Monks can also offer advice, give speeches about God's work and do confesses, where Orthodox can confess their sins and they get forgiven by the action "confession". Hope this helped! This is based on what a Father said to me about Mount Athos!

My girlfriend committed suicide on my birthday a few days ago and I am so lost. The grief hits like a truck and disappears in waves. It’s debilitating. It is beyond words. But our Lord wept for the dead with a heart more feeling and tender than our’s. May the Lord’s will be done not our own, and let our suffering purify our heart for His glory, for He died for our sins and defeated death. I become a catechumen in the church January 7th Christmas day and I am looking forward to it greatly.☦️❤️

2) people can change. People can discover God. Some saints committed many serious sins in their lives, some were even persecuting the Church. And yet God loves everyone and every single human has a chance

Seek out your closest parish and go for a visit! Most priests are more than happy to speak to those seeking information about the Orthodox Church. And remember, Orthodoxy is not a branch, it is the *trunk* rooted in Christ 😉

Plus, I feel like the church in the West has been losing itself lately, so maybe that's a sign to look East.

The word Monk, rather its old meaning is “one who is alone.” It’s pretty ironic. You’re alone, but always in God’s countenance.
I feel that being alone is the best situation to be connected to God, that's why I often say a few Jesus prayers when I wake up during the night, before going back to sleep.

I love this. It helps me to see further love for my faith. I often feel alone going to school and being orthodox because I wish more of my peers were following the faith with me, but I see more now than ever the value of being alone, but alone with God.

HE IS BACK
Once I was alone and enjoying myself as I was relaxed and fishing at night. I cought the biggest sea bass after a 20 minute fight , When I hauled the fish up I was sad as I had no one to show it to, I could not share my excitement, love and satisfaction.
With Christ we are never alone
I feel for this. I've had a war of disquiet and chaos in my mind for years (I'm a 23 yr old Orthodox Christian woman) from my own errors and the environments and people around me in my life. I have struggled so hard with the noise, screaming why it torments me so. And then recently the constant overwhelming chaos and disquiet became too much. And it felt like something popped or broke in my mind, and letting it all out, like the floodgates of my mind couldn't do it anymore and said times up. It terrified me, for i had started looking into information about psychosis and schizophrenia, and starting to believe i was crazy and going bonkers. But i realize I've not gone bonkers, I am just realizing how evil and shit the world is and the pain of it, and realizing I'm just like every other human out there in this world - forced into this was and that and brainwashed and manipulated and gaslighted and terrorized in order to fall victim to the sins of the world. And then the walls and obstacles started to fall in my mind. And every wall of trauma and sin that I've broken down in my mind so far, has each been part of why my mind is a loud war, and being ashamed and holding it all in for the sake of the rat race of society. But now that I've had time to myself to let it process and understand everything, I realize just how evil and material and temporary this world is (which doing so punched me in the gut with a huge wave of nihilism). But then watching Death to the World, and reading St. Isaac the Syrian's quote, it made me realize that it ain't all over yet. That I must return back to God, after straying so long and letting the world dictate me and my mind and consequently my mind being my own worst enemy. There is no point of doing the rat race. There is all point of finding your path and purpose while going to God. For there is no suffering here on this Earth. There is only truth in God.

It's amazing how I this popped up in my recommendations when I needed it most. I've recently started to grow closer to God and suddenly I realised all the flaws in my lifestyle while reading the bible on a daily. That included the people I hung out with. I started to cut friends that were pulling me into bad habits and encouraged me to do false worship and suddenly found myself alone very quickly. This journey is not easy, but I'm in a significantly better place now than I was previously.
