to me this is probably Eric's greatest song. I wish he would play it more but after listening I understand that it's tough for 65yr. old EJ to sing as high as 30yr. old EJ. thanks for posting.
This was the first tune I was ever exposed to of Eric Johnson. Man!...I just fell in love with this song and listened to this album over and over! Such a talented person. I was lucky enough to see him live once at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, Mo when I was younger and playing myself. So happy to find this.
First time I ever saw or heard of Eric Johnson was when his '84 Austin City Limits was aired on TV. This is the first song I heard and by the time the program was over, Ej was my favorite guitarist.
Wonder why he sings through a 57? Random thoughts. They never sound great for vocals, to my ears. Anyway, Eric Johnson rocks! I love his voice! And Tommy Taylor is such a rad drummer, reminds me of Mitch Mitchell or Ian Paice, the way he attacks the drums. Cheers everybody and thanks for posting this for those of us who couldn't be there.
If I had to guess it's because the sound source has to be really close for a 57 to pick it up and since Eric's rig is so loud, using a 57 reduces potential feedback loops from the mic picking up the sounds of the amplifiers. But yeah, they're not good mics for vocals in general.
@@wesdavis8797 Yeah, it's interesting. I saw him live twice and don't remember it being especially loud. But that does make sense. I've played with a few people who likes singing through 57s but it's never been great to my ears. And Eric Johnson has such a great voice.

Bro changed the lyrics from I’ll to we’ve, how wholesome
Eric, isn't it near the time that you fulfill your transaction with the devil ?
He didn't sell his soul. What makes you think that?
oh he sold his soul alright, but to the fretboard not the devil
aound quality is awful
