Sorry for the very long wait in a response! We by no means managed to get across everything that makes Cezanne great in this short video, but we hope it'll serve as an introduction to the painter. And no interpretation of art is ever 'wrong' - we think your reading is very good!

Quand j'étais plus jeune, beaucoup plus jeune, j'ai parcouru le mont en long en large et en travers avec la III° Aix et nous balisions les tracés, jaune, rouge, vert, noir. Nous construisions des tables et des bancs de repos pour les visiteurs. A cette époque nous ne parlions de Sainte Victoire uniquement quand nous allions au refuge du prieuré, sinon nous disions le mont Venturi. Les amis de Sainte Victoire était une association pour l'entretien du prieuré, simplement. Pourquoi ce glissement de nom du Mont Venturi à la Montagne Sainte Victoire? J'ai ma petite idée la dessus où Cézanne n'est pas absent.
This tells me nothing about what made Cezanne special - even amateur painters know about composition and colour.
My understanding is that he was creating an impression of 'movement within stillness' - he was trying to avoid 'dead art' and saying something about the limits of photography. Am I wrong professor?
