Yep! I've done this before! Well Tyler did because my chronic pain would not let me carry Cloud around a whole lot. If you can maybe recommend he gets boots for the dog! That helps out a lot, My brand is Ruffwear.

at a pep rally, my principal came over the speakers of the football field and told everyone that there would be a service dog at the football game that night and to not distract them or pet them. it really made me happy because service animals aren’t treated the best all the time, but my school helps this dog and their handler a lot. it’s very heartwarming to see.

@@cookiefan1809 they really don’t. that’s just one example of what they do. she’s the only person with a service dog in the 2000 student body, and they make sure they educate people on proper service dog etiquette. they get people in trouble if they mess with the dog or the handler.

I wish someone told me about service dogs when I was in high school diagnosed with PTSD cause instead I was 75% on sick leave and I failed the grade.

I have had a teacher try to tell me once, when I tried to leave class because I was having a panic attack, that there was no such thing as a mental illness and I needed to stop. (I have PTSD)
I feel you are leaving out a lot of information intentionally here....everyone KNOWS about mental disorders. So what really happened??
@@Beau-wp9yi Not everyone knows about mental disorders and in this case the teacher tried to tell me I couldn't have PTSD since I was not in the military. I am sorry that what I typed was confusing.
@Kaylie Babocsi The teacher was called by my therapist and was told that they should let me leave the room when need be. The teacher was just given a warning after that. Thank you for your concern
@@Beau-wp9yi just because you never had to deal with ignorant people doesn't mean they're not there. My old Maths teacher genuinely believes that mental illnesses are not a thing, that they were all made up in the past few years. My dad has the same believe. That Maths teacher refused to let a girl leave class during a panic attack and the girl ended up fainting and there were no results for the teacher. She later told that girl, diagnosed with anxiety, that she must have asthma, because panic attacks aren't a real thing and neither is anxiety. You being lucky enough to not experience this kind of ignorance doesn't mean it's not there, and you're pretty ignorant yourself if you believe that.

Imagine if you went to a school and someone didn't care about the word "Service" and only cared about the word "Animal". They kept on petting the dog or trying to distract it from its owner. What would you do? I would push them away from the animal and tell that that's *NOT* okay and tell them to leave, as well as telling the principle.
I don’t have a service animal but I have a pup and whenever I’m trying to do a quick training exercise or whatever around friends and they distract my pup i get irritated. I can’t imagine what it would be like with a service animal.

It was very easy to train my Siberian husky and once they’re past the puppy age they turn lazy. My 8 year old Siberian husky is turning back to a puppy. I don’t know if all huskies become lazy when they get older or it’s because my dog has a leg problem and is finally healing mentally after 1+ year.

Cloud is an amazing service dog. She's been trained very well from what I see. I know how you feel to a small extent with how terrible mental illnesses are. I hope things get better for you in the future. Until then, you have one of the best service dogs watching over you, making sure nothing happens. It's really nice to see the perspective of someone in high school with a service dog. Most videos I've seen, the owners have been adults. I'd love to see more videos like this.

I really needed this, I become a high schooler in 2021 and I’m getting a service dog soon and I really needed to know what it’s like. This helps me a lot to know what’s it like to be in highschool with your service dog :).

I wish that I was able to get a service dog. My panic attacks got so bad that they were coming multiple times a day :/ I also have had had depression and anxiety since third grade so that’s fun. I just love having bad mental health it’s my favorite! My depression also gets so bad that I can’t feel emotions. I also had an eating disorder last year and I wanted to die last year (we good though now as I told the school counselor and we talked and my family and I talked about it and I am not suicidal anymore)

emilia ryan they are probably used to it. A kid at my school has one and people just ignore the dog (it also helps there are signs everywhere about not touching the dog or speaking to him/her)

@@haleyhall4595 the I think that's pretty bad. The dog needs to focus only on it's owner. If the owner has a seizure, and someone is playing with the dog, then the dog would probably not be able to save them, or be too late. I guess.

@@sensationlive3528 I have a husky who is currently 3 weeks old. She such an angel!!!! Definitely would recommend a husky there very calm. If you train them well there very calm. And if you love playful/energetic dogs a husky is gonna be your number one! (Sorry for VERY late reply).

@@kaizley2748 Where was the punchline? You ended up laughing after that? I wouldn't say it's a joke. I believe there is a difference on service dogs, same with police dogs. They have some sort of ability they are born with that makes them the ideal training pup for whatever they need to do. But I was still commenting that your husky can be almost just as amazing or more amazing than this husky with training.

Just out of curiosity, do they have a system for anyone who’s allergic to dogs? Like does the school look into if anyone in the classes the dog will be in have a dog allergy and transfer them? Orrr???
My friend has a service dog and there’s someone in the class with allergies so i dunno if the school is just like “let them die” or what
I’m allergic to dogs and any animal with fur but unless it was a life threatening allergy then I doubt anything would be done. But I personally love dogs and every animal, so I would just take some allergy medicine or deal with a runny nose bc I’d rather die than never enjoy human-animal interaction again.

Allergies to dogs and cats usually aren’t life threatening. I imagine they’re just place at the opposite end of the classroom and/or take some allergy medicine before they come to school

Maddie Kellett i dont have any experience with service dogs. but im sure you will be fine. if people bully you, just report them/ tell someone. people will probably stare though, however, thats natural and they dont mean anything by it. its simply because you dont see a service dog everyday. so dont worry too much!! :) hope i could reassure you a bit and that what i said made sense
If anything, they'll just stare. In my case, a lot of people take interest in me because of my doggo, and they might ask why you need them with you.
If someone bullies you, please report them whether it is a teacher or another student. It's an act of discrimination to harass or tease someone about their physical or mental disability and it is illegal. Sometimes people might ask questions but you don't have to share anything that makes you uncomfortable. Take care!

If they every stare, it’s usually just a curious stare, like “woah this persons got a doggo!” But if they stare in a rude and they possibly make a weird face. Just stare at them back. A nice long stare until they look away. Works good!
I know I've been guilty of over-staring at a cute doggo that I know I can't pet. I try not to, but they're just so dang cute!

I think just about every school has at least 1 teacher who has that poster on the right in their room. The "30 years from now..." one. Almost all my teachers in elementary school and at least 1 teacher in 6-12 grade had it lol.

Im getting my dog trained to be a service dog and seeing how you take your dog to school and it helps you so much makes me glad i choose to get one for my mental disabilities
