Thank you for this video! was searching everywhere for this problem and was about to buy a new lens, have taken it apart and moved the small rubber band down slightly and it has made it marginally better, am going to reopen it and try solder the wire to fix it as the cable replacement looks quite difficult.

When I attach the lens, it gives this error message. What I do?

what purpose does the zooming brush serve? is it really required?

    • @CamerasLensesEtc

That gives the information to the PCB of the lens and to the camera where the zoom is. With some lenses, the zoom brush should work to use the autofocus.

This is a very common problem with all tamron zoom lens. When I attach the lens i get this error. What I do? Is static energy from body damage something? Why this happen?

As you zoom, the cable moves and sooner or later it get broken. If that happens, the cable should be replaced with a new one.

Maybe that is the pin / lever which connects the zoom ring with the inner zoom mechanism. If you send a photo of it on facebook messenger, I'll take a look at it.

Thank you for the video. My problem is simpler. My focus works with jerky action so it's hard to get sharp focus on stars at night. It's not an old lens so I suspect there's no long lasting solution.
I think I'll upgrade to a telescope with a different type focus mechanism. ((-:

Howdy. I've got a very similar problem with one of these old SuperZooms. Focuselement and Zoomfunction are were jerky and since it is an old lense with very subpar image quality that was just collecting dust, i said what the hell, let's open it up for fun. So once you fought your way down to the inner Zoom tube, you can clean and lube the plastic rails and threads and they will go smoothly again (for how long i don't know). Problem is to put it back together after that. The think the chances that my little project will work out fine in the end are slim :> Disassembly is waaaay easier then re-assembly, especially if you don't mark the relativ positions of some of the parts to oneanother. 2/10, would not recommend. (but you will learn a thing or two)

@@kunstsein Thanks for the tips. I'm using a telescope and my eyes are too old to get focus easily. I'm sure that taking apart and put the camera lens back it too much of a challenge for me.
Maybe you'll figure out a way to use your lens for some "artistic" photography where exact focus would ruin the effect you desire. Plenty of people excel at that sort of method.

    How to open upar glass

I don't know exactly, I haven't done that before, but generally speaking there are only a few ways to remove the front glass, I would recommend to view my videos about cleaning the lenses, and you can apply that technique on your lens.
