The concept sounds intriguing. There are so many happily ever romantic fantasies in movies, but the real world is littered with bad decisions and poor choices in chasing these fantasies. I am here for a film that actually shows the follies of young love. My thirties were spent face-palming at the mistakes me and my friends made as teens and young adults. The rest of my life will be spent face-palming at the mistakes the youth today are making all the saying things I swore in my youth I'll never say "back in my day/when I was your age/trust me I've been in your place." If I interpreted your review correctly - I am curious to watch this film.
I don't know about others but this movie represents the so called gen z in the light that they should be, I watched a lot of anurag kashyap interviews before watching the movie and whatever he said is in the movie. This is a movie that I think has a lot of interpretations and I think Karan Mehta has the played both the parts beautifully, he is awkward and idiot as some kids are, whereas the harmeet part is played with maturity he understands the conditions and don't want others to go through as he's already been through them. Alaya was very good, actually in the both the settings the actors exchange their roles, in one alaya is careless and in the other Karan does that. Vicky Kaushal is the one, who adds up to this idiot thing that we call "Almost Pyaar" and he is the secret shayar or peot or the musician we all listen to but never share anything about. All in all, this movie is a great watch and I feel it is for people like us who needs to understand the difference between love and affection.
I went without any expectations but came out pleasantly surprised . It’s not high tier Kashyap, but far better than the mechanised to a fault Dobara. And damn Sucharita you look hot !
@@Sean-tz6cm This means that they are curious about the movie but are not expecting/presuming anything. It's got nothing to do with how pricey or cheap the tickets are. Word-of-mouth publicity aise hi toh banti hai. Were you born yesterday or what.
@@Sean-tz6cm yaar phokat ka tamaasha dekhna hi hai toh tumhaare comments padh loonga.... why would I go to all the trouble of downloading crap from some crappy website when some better crap is already available here
I honestly did not think Vicky Kaushal scenes an interruption. I think it encapsulated the essence of the film and throughout the film the same essences/philosophy was explored with great nuance. The selfless character of true love is missing in our day and age in all the relationships. For example as alaya’s character says even the parents don’t love their children selflessly. Even they prioritise fragile egos over the happiness of their child.
I think the movie is open for discussion but I would like to point out the genius way Anurag Showed both the stories and at the end you realize both the stories are not running simultaneously. The london story actually started after Dalhouse story. Also i feel i am not ready to fully review this movie right now. It was a good first watch and i feel i will require a 2nd watch. I would just like to say 1st half was what a thypical love story looks like and 2nd half is about what happens when reality hits you and you understand it is not really that easy or good. 1 clear criticism i have for the movie is being a love story genre, both the movies were emotionally lacking and did not feel emotionally engaging enough. I really liked the ending though. It is sort of open to interpretation.
Throughout this review, I was waiting for a reason to watch the movie no matter how hopeful I was about its quality. Gone are the days when movies like City Lights and Trapped merited a theatre watch. In the Post-OTT realm, I wonder if they’d be appreciated for a big screen watch as much (or at all). That said, your review made me wish Anurag would get to write/direct a web series to tell the stories the way he wants to narrate. Like a feature film isn’t the right medium to do justice to his narrative prowess. For example, would Trial by Fire feel as good (and hit us as hard) as a feature film in a big screen? Or Sacred Games for that matter? Anurag is a volcano. Unfortunately , our OTT platforms aren’t trying to explore his talent after Sacred Games. He rightly said OTT me himmat nehi he. Everyone is scared post Taandav. Sorry state of affairs. Dear Malayalam cinema producers, please let him direct some content!

Karan Mehta was good as Harmeet. Yakub role mai he looked weird. Alaya F is good actor but goddamn this movie sucks and the Vicky kaushal pyaar podcast crap was HORRIBLE. Pretentious Feel bad for the debutant Karan Pathaan is going to KILLL this before it even has a chance to swim lmao. Bad bad timing
Where’s the location? Btw your review of The Whale was a bit too harsh and almost like you wanted to have an issue with the film. Anyway you said it was your opinion so I will refrain from debating you. But my only point is: being morbidly obese is not depicted as a sin, it’s more of a lifestyle choice that is frowned upon and is later given the arc to redeem oneself. It may even have positive connotations as well, Aronofsky movies are seldom bright and cheery.
I found lot of problems in the writing..with due respect to anurag and I am fan but in this film all the dialogues about the hindu muslim part, love jihad and all those dialogues seem so upfront and out there that i tend to forget the characters who are talking and I am constantly reminded of anurag kashyap and his views…constantly his face keeps coming infront of me.. anurag is trying to say this aurag is trying to say that…a director or writer’s work should be behind the screen right? Ideally a viewer should nit be reminded of who the writer and director is…If I am constantly being reminded about writer then it’s poor form of writing don’t you think? If charcater is saying what he/she is saying then he or she is not actually saying anything…meaning it lacks the subtext… that’s what I felt. In a movie like sairaat there’s no mention of upper class or lower class nor is there any name of caste mentioned still we know what’s happening, which forces are working behind..the writer director never comes out of the screen and talks directly. That’s why it’s a film and not a speech. And somehow then Vicky kaushal’s dialogue seemed very genuine and felt like actually the character was saying it.
This lady is using too many words to describe simple concepts. The movie is good for those who like to think. It’s very deep and intense and the it makes you question a lot of aspects of reality in love today. Brilliant Anurag Kashyap does it again! 👏 For those people that like brainless entertainment- go watch Pathaan or Tu jhooti mein makkar 🤮

Terrible movie. Don't put the movie's lack of vision, blabbering dialogues and pretentiousness as Genz's approach to love and relationships. It's a bad project, nothing deep about it.
Exploring what the same old story of Hindu rigid parents who are narrow minded and does not allow their daughter be murdered by his muslim lover into 35 pieces then sure also do not come at me. Saying this isn't story of the movie it basically means this
