Energy required to counteract air resistance is a cube relation: So 70^3 / 50^3 =2.74. Kennan was using like 3x the energy to go that extra 20mph faster.
Not quite. This only applies for the air resistance part of the total resistance. Rolling resistance is a big fraction of the resistance at these low speeds and it only has a square relation. @@TransformHypnosis I care about it on my new cars. But my 2003 wrangler I dont. My 03 jeep needed to be driven with a death wobble to reset the ecu after having a dead battery. They don't check for wobbles or tire wear or even measure the emissions. They drive on top of a grainy camera and plug into your obd2 port and see if any codes are there. Thank god its almost 21 so I can get an exemption. That thing will not pass for long. All due respect. If my cat is dead on a 3000 car I'm not paying 2000 to fix it. I rather drive around with no inspection and pay the fines. But you never get pulled over for that. I got pulled over once and they did not even mention it.
I’m starting to think he’s not the brightest bulb. Tuning greatly helps fuel economy as long as you’re on pump. E85 is a different ball game.
Figured out that it makes a great difference to use cruise control
Kennan with the Motorola Timeport! 😂
Had that phone when it was new! The upgraded StarTac with 3 color screen! Cool to see the Z8 also!
As an urban planner, may I direct your complaints to Caltrans.
Doug is the type of guy to tell the editor to put “Big Dawg” as his position in Cars & Bids
Good lord Doug, you look ridiculous in that car. Is that a custom cutout for your head?
Oh man, I didn't even look at Kennan. You guys are a match made in heaven.
What's up with the seats in the M5? Those aren't standard.
Was Kennan sitting that close to the wheel/dash when when he rear ended another car?
Just me or do both of these guys sit really close to the wheel?
This was entertaining but you guys should do a "real" hyper-miling challenge and this time include Filippo. By real I mean rent 3 of the same car, start at the same time and all take the same route to the same destination. Let's see who the real lightfoot is 😅
(Bonus science points for swapping cars with one another and going back to the start, just in case one car somehow has an edge)
Is the head unit in the M5 a retro upgrade with Bluetooth?
bluebus
I wonder if Philipo has a similar issue that doug has to calculating during hypyer mileing when doing short runs in economy cars?
I'm surprised non of them got behind another car on the expressway and actually hyper-miled the car. all they did was drive conservatively.
I forgot how much I loved e39 M5s until I started watching the C&B channel 😅
Realy enjoying Waching this makes me think about the milage for the cars, try and get some other cars with grand touring credentials , also from different categories but from other people! Of course I do enjoy watching seat time in these cars . 🚗
Doug not knowing you can pull that vapor barrier back with your hand and pump at full speed is hilarious to me. Like, he didn’t even try. Just live by the rules.
I LOVE this channel!
