    I love how the teaching of the golf swing has evolved. There are so many ways to swing and depending on your body you can now try different ones and figure out what works. Who cares how pretty it looks as long as it hits the ball correctly.

    Really good. Padraig talked about something similar. As a bang-under-average-golfer I got it in my mind that the 'hips lead' and 'fire the hips' - all that stuff we see pros talk about. All it did for me was make me go 'over the top'. This makes real sense.

    I've thought for some time that turning the hips back and through should take a lot of stress off the lower back and should be ideal for those w bad backs who tend toward an arms only swing. Secondly, I've found that the weight shift/pressure to start down actually does most of the work in getting the arms into the delivery position, without much deliberate movement. That backswing also does a lot toward keeping the club/shaft on plane going back.

    Peter long time subscriber I’ve watched a lot of your stuff and have basically taught myself how to golf watching your videos and Rick Sheils. This is the swing that I try to imitate the most. The only problem is when I pump down press forward and rotate my club face is left way open and the only way to fix that is to feel like I’m swinging ping-pong, paddle and adding top spin. what am I doing wrong? Why is my club face so open?
    Nice video man!

    My biggest question: does the drop happen at the same time as the press? Or is it in close sequence? Seems to be different for different tour players just looking at them...

    As someone who cast a lot I Always found different explanations and swing thoughts hard to implement, one that worked for me to get that wide space and stop flicking the wrists was imagine top of the swing you are holding a javelin that you want to throw left of you without it hitting yourself

    Great video and love this as my new swing thought. We all know not to rotate at the top of the back swing but sometimes you see it described in a way that really makes the sequence click! Can't wait to get down the range 🎉

    Top vid as always. I’ve started getting reasonable separation and hitting the ball as sweet as ever but have gone from push/fade to 49yd pulls with a mid iron….could it be because I’m turning lower body and throwing my arms as I run out of space??

    Great I can follow that. I have got my backswing sorted, I've improved my shoulder turn, and if I keep calm I'm not bad but if I drive hard from the top it goes bad. My biggest issue is that I dont "finish" and my right hip pops out instead of rotating thru. Is there a key element in your vid that I'm getting wrong?

    Serious question:- how does an Iron Byron make beautiful consistent swings without any weight shift, dropping the club inside, wrist or forearm manipulation etc.? As John Jacobs put it, two turns and a swish. Perhaps an idea for a future Swing Quest?

    • @alcw625
      @alcw625 2 месяца назад

      It’s a repeated move…same reason Furyk won so much money…constantly delivering the club face to the ball despite the shenanigans in the backswing…jack was upright and steep, Hogan was flat…but again all consistent…being great putters helps the score line too

    Like the thought process. I have a question about golf swing with bad knees. I flare my feet like penguin and keep my feet closer together. I ended up with some transition issues which I started thinking on the back swing follow the tree trunk up which caused me to drop my hands on the down swing. Anyways is there anything else you can think of for a bad knees guy? My left knee is always killing me after about 15 holes.

    Two questions: what if you don’t raise your hands at all and just keep a very flat on plane swing? Assume that is sacrificing some speed / power? And two: which club are you using to drill the ball 200 yds? 😋

    I'm sorry but this couldn't be more wrong. At 2:40 he says, "we drop down into this space and then we start to apply the turn and the rotation," if that were true there would be no reason to make a backswing any farther than P3/P6. If we aren't using P4 and P5 what's the purpose of doing it? Also, watch any pro and clearly they aren't waiting until P6 to apply power as a matter of fact P6 is where they STOP applying power. What he's describing here is exactly what every novice golfer is attempting to do and is the reason people struggle learning golf. At 3:50 he says, "... we allow the right hip to rotate around the body." If anyone can explain how to get your right hip to rotate "around" your body I'd love to hear it. Your hip is part of your body - it is your body - there is literally no way to get it to, "rotate around the body." There is a phenomena called, "unconscious proficiency delusion," which, yes, I know some people find offensive or whatever, but he's demonstrating it clearly here - He's demonstrating a motion and intention that he does not actually perform in his swing. He is a proficient user and as odd as it may sound, he's learned to perform the golf swing well but he's unaware of what it is he actually does, so he's describing what he "thinks" he does and not what he actually does. This is why they always describe "feelings" instead of actual actions. He's close to describing the true actions of the golf swing but he's got the cause and effect completely backward. "Pressure into the left side ..." as he says, "... allows that lead hip to be rotated." It's the lead leg that causes the lead hip retraction, not rotation. What other force could there possibly be to cause this to happen?
    I'm sorry to be so critical but it's videos like this that are the reason everyone thinks golf is so hard. Even at his demonstration at 6:55 he does not perform the action he's advocating. Finally, attempting to perform the golf swing in slow motion and then expecting the same result at full speed is just silly. There are all sorts of forces, torques and physics that happen only at full speed.

      We do not NOT apply power from the top, speed gathers. This works great for me. It's Pete Cowen stuff.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf 2 месяца назад

      @@auriferous4462 Watch any good player's swing and you'll see the arc of the clubhead shallow (or cut the corner) from the very start of the downswing. This is a empirical evidence that power is being applied from the beginning of the downswing. Again, if we didn't start to apply power from the top, what's the point of taking it to the top? Look up swing tracer videos and you'll see what I'm talking about.

    Where is the low point and at one point is the low point on the arc of the club around the body seems to drive distance and direction for me. It's the focus on the strike after a repeatable setup that helps determine my low point that has meant all the difference for ball distance and direction. The focus on the outcome the low point strike sending the ball straight that has synched up the take away, transition, and down swing.

    A new way to describe the golf swing 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻make it stop.
    Throw the club , throw the whole set down the field , go get them , do it again but brush the ground this time , go get them , put a ball down where you brush the ground . Bingo .
    Open or closed stance around the ball creates shape 🤷🏻‍♂️ .
    Oh yeah - stop letting go
