Belive it or not i was 13 when i started this anime in 2002 and i thought this would be a great anime to start watching and when the story about Gold Roger Was Told i was like "how powerful the king of the pirates might be" ..... now im 31 with a wife and three kids still addicted to this show and finally watching Gold Roger in action with Whitebeard is one of my reasons why im thankful to god (Oda Too Lol) that i lived to watch this childhood masterpiece .....Thank You Oda For Making My Childhood and Adulthood SUUUUPEEER ..... i cant wait for my kids to grow up so i can watch this show as a proud and happy father .... thank you One Piece For Existing ❤

He learned over time (maybe even after this fight) that he needed to be able to get stronger. So I would think the current Marco is much stronger than this one. But I'm a Rayleigh fanboy so I think Rayleigh superior Haki still can get him a win against most one piece characters.
One piece is probably the only anime where even though there are so many characters introduced in each arc, Oda writes them so memorably that even till this day I can remember almost all of the people introduced villain and ally if not by name then by face
like, I'll forget about characters, but the second that someone shows me an image I'll have a vague memory of their role in the story. I mean, I remember some filler about 1000 year old dragons and something about creating the ultimate firework. and dont get me started with G8 and the 55's(I dont remember if that was their actual name, but its somewhere in that realm) all I'm saying is that even the filler is memerable to a certain extenct even if I cant remember the details
That's absolutely not One Piece exclusive no. I like One Piece, great anime but can y'all please stop starting every single bit of praise you have for it with "its probably the anime where X happens". Black Beard is dependent of his devil fruit and even a 17 years old Luffy took him by surprise. How a character like this can harm an emperor of the sea? Shanks even mentioned he had his guard up. And late in the story, we've seem how a emperor can take down a commander in two strikes (Big Mom beating Queen)... the only explanation is plot armor, Black Beard is supposed to be a major villain, that's why he was able to harm Shanks

Oden is seen fighting just like any other crew member. Roger and Whitebeard are the big bosses. One of the best part of the flashback is Oden realising that he was only the strongest in his country. When he meets Roger and Whitebeard, he feels he is not even close to being strong. However, he is strong as seen in his fight against Kaido.
My main take from this is that... Buggy 'actually' fought alongside and against these legends, sure he was running away most of the time but that's more than can be said for most people
I think similarly about Usopp tbh, sure he's always scared but when push comes to shove Usopp steps up and keeps going despite his fear. Although Buggy doesn't ever get as scared as Usopp.

Being virtually immortal due to your devil fruit probably helps the fearlessness. Plus the fact that this wasnt a real fight to the death, just two groups of pirates who love to fight going at it.

Marco is not that strong even now. He has literally made zero strength progression. He is nothing without his devil fruit and we saw that when he had sea prism cuffs on. Luffy on the other hand doesn't even need his devil fruit considering he has powerful haki like no other and he has trained countless time with sea prism cuffs on. Marco is reliant on his fruit but I still respect him

You forget that even at the start of one piece Luffy was damn strong, once he was actually able to fight his enemies he often beat them up in a couple of minutes all the way until he faced Warlord Crocodile. He didn’t even need a powerup until his lost to Lucci at Water 7. Buggy lost to the same Luffy that beat Crocodile and Enel.

It's good to see the kind of bond Roger and WB have; it just makes that scene when Ace tells WB who his father is, and is surprised WB accepts him as a son so much better.
Whitebeard and Roger were both amazing characters with fantastic accomplishments. Roger was more impulsive and strived for exploration and finding the last island above all else. Ace appreciated Whitebeard much more because Rogers reckless actions also left him fatherless while WB focused much more on taking care of his crew and his allies. Whitebeard is the stable father figure while Roger is the cool uncle who you only see every once in a blue moon but it's always over the top and memorable. This clash was a friendly duel for everyone to go all out without casualties while training and having a good time. Roger sprinted towards the finish line while Whitebeard sat back and allowed himself and his crew to progress in a methodical and safe manner. Whitebeard held a lot of territory and his existence alone was an umbrella that protected places that couldn't afford the WG's fees. Whitebeard grew up in poverty and that's why acquiring and providing for the people he cares about means so much to him. Oden spending a year on Rogers ship was a very telling and memorable feat considering how close to Whitebeard he truly was. I hope we get some more information about both the Roger Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates.

@@830toAwesome The main problem is that Devil Fruit Users are only as powerful as their motivation and creativity and Buggy has applied very little of either to his own. Buggy's natural charisma and cunning make him a good leader but his personal strength will always be lacking in comparison to characters like Luffy who are always pushing themselves to the brink in order to improve.
roger and whitebeard both couldn't fight at full power as it would put their own crewmates in danger. same reason whitebeard didn't just sink marineford during the war
They couldn't afford to do a bad work cause this might be the last time showing Roger in action and if they did bad work the majority of fands would be very upset.
im sure as story goes further and further we will see this level of combat with luffy against his rivals. and more flashbacks of roger as they get to laughtale

Buggy is fairly strong despite the memes. He went toe to toe with the whole straw hat crew in East Blue, and he is one of the most competent fighters in the impel down arc. Luffy may have forgotten what it was, but the buggy ball is at least on par with some of Queen the Plague's more powerful attacks.
I love the fact that Raleigh was able to push back Marco with just a finger. It’s always nice to see a glimpse of what these guys were like in their prime.
I feel like the next time stamp would say something like “10 MONTHS LATER” (In the spongebob time stamp voice) and Roger and Whitebeard would still be fighting at full power as their crew members just hang out together
Watching this scene actually makes me realize the huge growth in Shanks power. Here he was just a scrub who could just run away while Marco and Jozu were far more powerfull and experienced and Whitebeard was an absolute beast, and yet Shanks came to be known as a true rival to Whitebeard, gaining his true respect , not to mention the fear of Whitebeard's crew (even Jozu was shown to fear him). Either Shanks had some hidden power like Teach or he trained like a madman.
Guessing his Conquerors haki he easily able to knock out some of white beards crew and even break off parts of whitebeards ship shanks might have advanced conquerors
I get the feeling there’s a certain way battles between the Roger and Whitebeard pirates were more or less just Whitebeard indulging Roger for days at a time until Roger realizes he needs to eat something (Whitebeard would rather die than crack before Roger, let’s be real here).

I took 3 weeks off work for annual leave and told them I was flying overseas for a holiday. I spent that time watching one piece from beginning to whenever I got up to till I had to go back. Still the best holiday I've ever had.

@@makkusu8750 Tbh the animation quality, is great. Considering it's released week to week, it's just fine and i don't expect more, especially since it's already good. What they need to work on is choreography. It's too much power posing instead of action. They need to grow some balls at Toei and add some animators and people capable of actually creating a solid fight scene with proper choreography instead of just epic clashes.

@@cainmagnetic9796 yeah don’t worry I’m keeping the utmost of attention. I’m on the fishman arc and a lot of people are saying “this arc drags on for too long” but I’m acc enjoying it so far. Also if I don’t get a scene I tend to rewind it so I can absorb the subtitles better. The only time where I get into “get through as many eps as possible” mode is during the middle of certain arcs that got unbelievably long such as alabasta and skypiea but ultimately I still understood the plotlines
well in fact it is true, I mean, We at Marineford saw a 72-year-old Whitebeard sick and on the verge of dying, yet he was very strong but it was not at its best, so it is logical that people are wondering "but then what devastation would young Whitebeard do? "
White Beard didn't used any kind of "advanced" haki, neither awakened his devil fruit. Age and mortal illness are not excuses, taking in consideration Roger or Garp. White Beard is a cool character, but he was introduced too early

This is why Marco climbed the ranks so fast. He's fearless. Back then he wasn't as strong as he is today but he didn't hesitate to fight Rayleigh.
Being virtually immortal due to your devil fruit probably helps the fearlessness. Plus the fact that this wasnt a real fight to the death, just two groups of pirates who love to fight going at it.

Marco is not that strong even now. He has literally made zero strength progression. He is nothing without his devil fruit and we saw that when he had sea prism cuffs on. Luffy on the other hand doesn't even need his devil fruit considering he has powerful haki like no other and he has trained countless time with sea prism cuffs on. Marco is reliant on his fruit but I still respect him

You forget that even at the start of one piece Luffy was damn strong, once he was actually able to fight his enemies he often beat them up in a couple of minutes all the way until he faced Warlord Crocodile. He didn’t even need a powerup until his lost to Lucci at Water 7. Buggy lost to the same Luffy that beat Crocodile and Enel.

It's good to see the kind of bond Roger and WB have; it just makes that scene when Ace tells WB who his father is, and is surprised WB accepts him as a son so much better.
Whitebeard and Roger were both amazing characters with fantastic accomplishments. Roger was more impulsive and strived for exploration and finding the last island above all else. Ace appreciated Whitebeard much more because Rogers reckless actions also left him fatherless while WB focused much more on taking care of his crew and his allies. Whitebeard is the stable father figure while Roger is the cool uncle who you only see every once in a blue moon but it's always over the top and memorable. This clash was a friendly duel for everyone to go all out without casualties while training and having a good time.
Roger sprinted towards the finish line while Whitebeard sat back and allowed himself and his crew to progress in a methodical and safe manner. Whitebeard held a lot of territory and his existence alone was an umbrella that protected places that couldn't afford the WG's fees. Whitebeard grew up in poverty and that's why acquiring and providing for the people he cares about means so much to him. Oden spending a year on Rogers ship was a very telling and memorable feat considering how close to Whitebeard he truly was. I hope we get some more information about both the Roger Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates.

@@830toAwesome The main problem is that Devil Fruit Users are only as powerful as their motivation and creativity and Buggy has applied very little of either to his own. Buggy's natural charisma and cunning make him a good leader but his personal strength will always be lacking in comparison to characters like Luffy who are always pushing themselves to the brink in order to improve.

Buggy is fairly strong despite the memes. He went toe to toe with the whole straw hat crew in East Blue, and he is one of the most competent fighters in the impel down arc. Luffy may have forgotten what it was, but the buggy ball is at least on par with some of Queen the Plague's more powerful attacks.

Watching this scene actually makes me realize the huge growth in Shanks power. Here he was just a scrub who could just run away while Marco and Jozu were far more powerfull and experienced and Whitebeard was an absolute beast, and yet Shanks came to be known as a true rival to Whitebeard, gaining his true respect , not to mention the fear of Whitebeard's crew (even Jozu was shown to fear him). Either Shanks had some hidden power like Teach or he trained like a madman.
Guessing his Conquerors haki he easily able to knock out some of white beards crew and even break off parts of whitebeards ship shanks might have advanced conquerors

I get the feeling there’s a certain way battles between the Roger and Whitebeard pirates were more or less just Whitebeard indulging Roger for days at a time until Roger realizes he needs to eat something (Whitebeard would rather die than crack before Roger, let’s be real here).

Shanks went from this to being able to rival Whitebeard in à relatively short period given his age. And it also shows how scary WB truly was.

I took 3 weeks off work for annual leave and told them I was flying overseas for a holiday. I spent that time watching one piece from beginning to whenever I got up to till I had to go back. Still the best holiday I've ever had.

@@makkusu8750 Tbh the animation quality, is great. Considering it's released week to week, it's just fine and i don't expect more, especially since it's already good. What they need to work on is choreography. It's too much power posing instead of action. They need to grow some balls at Toei and add some animators and people capable of actually creating a solid fight scene with proper choreography instead of just epic clashes.

Theres so much worldbuilding and things that go over your head if your just autoplaying episodes while on your phone that when you decide to pay attention you won't know what they're talking about.
@@cainmagnetic9796 yeah don’t worry I’m keeping the utmost of attention. I’m on the fishman arc and a lot of people are saying “this arc drags on for too long” but I’m acc enjoying it so far. Also if I don’t get a scene I tend to rewind it so I can absorb the subtitles better. The only time where I get into “get through as many eps as possible” mode is during the middle of certain arcs that got unbelievably long such as alabasta and skypiea but ultimately I still understood the plotlines

White Beard didn't used any kind of "advanced" haki, neither awakened his devil fruit. Age and mortal illness are not excuses, taking in consideration Roger or Garp. White Beard is a cool character, but he was introduced too early
