This is one of my least favorite builds by Monica. It looks like a mesh of older and younger. The headboard looks baby-ish and the bobby-pins and other accessories look like their made for someone in Jr high.

A kid shouldn't be able to force their parents into not sleeping In their room. They really are not setting any ground rules or standards of privacy. Glad that they were able to finally have some privacy and make their kids independent.
Hey, i slept in my mother's bed for a long time (I still do, sometimes). I think a child should be ale to decide whether or not they wish to sleep in their room. I also think they should decide on their own paint, and decorations.
At their age it's completely normal for them to want to sleep near their parents. It's allows for more sound sleep which helps their growth and development. Those "boundaries" people refer to shouldn't really be enforced until the child has reach 8-10 years of age as they grow closer to preteens.
Knock yourself out! You may change your mind later when you realize you have no privacy.

Sometime my child gets scared and will sleep with me. But it's not something I want to happen every night. I would impress the important of independence in certain things without making her seem like she cant be a child.

The three quarter paint wall is a great idea. It needs a chair rail or shelf to tie it together.
Did not like the colors, but the idea in the room was good. Didn't like the green door, it was not bright enough for a little girls rooms.

I know I''m behind on watching this episode, haha, but I only discovered this series/YT channel recently. I quite like the purple color, but the room would have been far nicer if the upper part of the wall were an off-white or cream color. I agree that the green/gold door is (in my opinion) a hideous color. White would have been a nice, classic choice, especially since the bedroom door and furniture were white. The cream/purple with white trims/doors would have lasted her longer than the mauve/mint green combo too - certainly until she is 10-12 yo. Just my thoughts :) I really enjoy this show - lots of neat ideas for easy-ish projects!
The little girl told Monica she likes pink and hot pink and yet her room turned into a muddle of purple, light green, and some putrid shade on that door.
You make happy not only the parents, but the kids too. I can't wait to see the boys room!

It has a lot to do with the mother (I'm guessing here) using the child to manipulate Dad.
This isn't an awful child; it's a mother with unresolved issues from her own childhood.
Poor Dad. (Again, I'm human, just guessing here).

For painting three quarters of the wall in my first home in my last room 3 walls were purplish pink and the other wall was neon green
Yes we painted 3/4 wall as well. We had a white aircon above the bed to painted just the bottom 3/4 and left white around the aircon so it doesn’t stand out and also make a headboard effect

I love it!!! It takes a mommy to know what other parents need.
We had a family bed until my two year old joined her seven year old sister in a double bed. The older one slept through the night for the first time at five and a half, the baby slept through at a few weeks. Very different kids with very different needs! All together I got more rest and everyone was happy until they were ready to venture out on their own :) Most of us would rather share a bed as adults, so why not kids? It's a real first-world ideology that we must 'train' our kids to sleep (a.k.a. make them cry alone). Nice mom and dad - I am sure your patience will be rewarded with well adjusted kids. It's amazing how fast they grow up, and I promise you, they will not always want to be in your space!
The room is pretty, but I think it still lacks... a bigger area rug, a more inviting chair, a few more little girl accents in the pink colour she asked for, low hooks, a glittery nightlight, a shelf for story books and crafts, a cute basket of stuffed toys, and twinkle lights inside the headboard :)

God no. Sounds like a nightmare. Three people who have no experience with DIY want to tackle a major renovation that will take a lot of time and money? Yikes! No. No. No. NO!
Sleep thing is big. Scent is a powerful comfort. Put mom and dads scent in her bed by using a pillow case or pajama top or....I'm a child card provider. I've used a mom/dad scented object to comfort tiny ones until they know me. This works!
Wow, how could these parents allow their children to SO control their lives like that, sleeping with them for YEARS with no end in sight. Oh please. Put a lock on your bedroom door; move them into their own rooms after they fall asleep and put earplugs in if they wake up and start screaming. They'll get over it. Geez. That being said, the little girl's room redo was great - love the bed especially.

It sounds like at this stage they are just used to sleeping around other people. If the parents keep indulging them the kids will just keep doing it.

Taylor yes I'm 32 years old,and my husband and I bought a condo last year...since renting prices went up we had some savings and decided to buy the condo it is 1x1 and we have a 5 years old girl and a baby on the way we are saving again to buy a bigger condo but meanwhile the family grew unexpectedly and that's why I needed it Monica that come up with and awesome, functional and charming make over for our bedroom/walking closet area. It's really a shame that I missed the Texas opportunity,so sad. ,😯😯

There's so much controversy in this comment section this time. Some of it is the decorating but much of it is the family bed (yes, it's a thing) Vs kids in their own beds (much more common in American culture, especially at these ages). I didn't see anyone suggest what to me would be an obvious solution. The kids are 5 and 3, perfect ages to put them into a room together. Who says they need their own rooms yet? This way they have each other to keep each other company. When my first two were around these ages, they slept in bunk beds and developed their own whole private story-telling world (after we read to them and tucked them in). So, my point is that the two options weren't family bed or isolation. There was a third option- sharing a room.

Everytime I use the tape I have to redue the paint. It leaves paint and takes paint off.
After placing the tape, apply paintable caulk to what will be the paint line. This extra step will seal the line. Make sure to pull off the tape before the caulk dries. It makes a perfectly straight line.

Not a fan of the green on the walls and the barn door. I think a pink, blue, or even yellow color would have worked better with that desaturated purple.
