When I was in the Army, I was a Vulcan gunner. Back in 1993 era. I had to learn well over 150 aircraft. One thing I noticed early on that the Russian Migs series look like they were assembled in a junk yard, make no mistake a Mig will take a beating.

I flew the F-14 Tomcat. I can say that every fighter has it's strength and weaknesses. The F-22 Raptor is no exception. It comes down to the pilot, the scenario and rules of engagement. In beyond visual range combat, it's unlikely there would ever be a traditional "dogfight". Launch and leave missiles should do the job. The hypersonic missiles being developed by China and other nations are the biggest threat to modern fighters. If they can be detected and tracked, it would be hard to evade a missile like this. Of course, missiles like those will eventually become obsolete once high energy beams become a weapon that can be carried on a fighter jet. We are a ways away from that right now, but they are being actively developed right now. Once they can be miniaturized and carried aboard a fighter, it's game over for those aircraft without them.

Completely countered by something as simple as bad weather, carbon/smoke decoys and missiles that lead the way and chaff like substances to reflect and scatter the radiation. And then theres the power problem - A supersonic missile has to endure more friction heat than even land based beam devices can reliably transfer to the missile - even the land based ones have a hellishly short theoretical effective range vs heavyer missiles.
Hypersonic missiles are for attacking ships and ground targets not other planes.....
.....you do know that once they go Hypersonic [detach from mother casing] they are not guided.....they are essentially dumb missiles in their final flight phase.

Having worked with F-14's and F-15 when I worked in NORAD Air Defense Radar operations controlling interceptors in training missions and real world ID pass on unknown aircraft entering US airspace, I can say the F-15 would beat the hell out of an F-14 in combat. While working in NORAD at Luke AFB in the late 1970's in the 26th AIR Division/ NORAD Region, we got a briefing on the capabilities of the F-14 Tomcat from an officer off the USS Kitty Hawk. Even though the F-14 is no longer in service, I will not give any details about its capabilities. However, the Lt Commander from the Kitty Hawk told us that if the F-15 had landing gear designed for carrier duty, the Navy would have gone with the F-15 over the F-14. One problem with the F-14, is used a lot of fuel with full afterburners. If the pilot had to go full afterburners to get to a target, there was only enough fuel for 9 minutes.
The F-15 is the first fighter/interceptor built that could do more than a pilot can stand. Can accelerate in a turn and a climb straight up with a power to weight ratio of 2 to 1. It can fly at Mach 2.5+++ and I do mean way faster than Mach 2.5!!!

It's a misleading value. If you divide the cost among US population, it would costs 0.02 cents per hour per person. Whole US air force flying for one hour would cost only 50 Cents per person.

The phonetical confusion came as a result of the lecturer's mispronunciation of that French jet fighter's name.

F-22 Raptor by far has the better reviews but only because the F-35 had a few flaws that either have been fixed or in the process of being fixed. I still think the F-15, the F-16 and the F-18 with our pilots can out fly any other plane in the world.

This is utterly untrue and I can give you numerous examples but I'll focus on a couple for now. The best fighter pilots at the commencement of WWII were the Germans, hands down. But their ME109s did not have the fuel capacity or the fire power to cross the English Channel and get back in time to make the effect that was needed. The other example was the Japanese Zero; the US could not counter this far superior aircraft until 1943. This had nothing to do with pilot skill; the Japanese pilots were as good as anyone.

My point is that in early WWII the German and Japanese pilots were generally superior, mostly due to combat experience and more advanced aircraft for the time. The allies eventually developed better aircraft and tactics to counter this.

Here is a beautiful nation, gorgeous country with an unbelievable culture, France has a better relationship with most nations in the world than the United States , they smile at every body and they manage to have one of the most advance technology and military in the world. They have their own fighter jets : THE RAFALE which rank the top 3 in the world, it may not be as fast as the F22 but for the budget and the size of a nation like France, it"s pretty impressive !

As you mentioned Rafale (and Eurofighter) - it is hard not to mention Gripen ...
Rafale is only plane from 4th gen that can compete partially with 5th gen aircraft. It has smaller radar cross section then any other 4th gen fighter jet (much less then F15/16/18, Eurofighter and non Su-57 russian airplanes, also Rafale currently has AESA radars with Thales spectra system, and it is actually proven in combat (it penetrated Libian airspace before anyone else and none of them were shot down).
