I think I believed it at the time of first watching, but looking back in hindsight after watching it again there are a few clues to it being a lie - the most obvious being that she said "if i was going to do it to myself" - surely if she had actually created this game she would already have known what her animal was, not just make up one of the spot like the way she worded it seemed like.
I mean, if you are telling the truth you're supposed to make it seems like a lie, so it didn't really make sense her acting that confident for a truth, it had to be a lie.
@@riccardoo.5606There are a few recurring guests on this show (off the top of my head Winkleman, Bob Mortimer and Greg Davies) that tell every story with supreme confidence and tremendous detail whether it's a truth or a lie, to the point that it basically becomes a guessing game.
@@ShahidKhan-ke8fe This has been proven not really true, we forget birds brains can't be compared to mammals their neurons are more tightly spaced, it was just a guess based on brain size. There was a clip of an owl brooding a frozen mouse to thaw it out so it could eat it lol, quite clever really. David does come across owly to me, that's whats weird about this lie it could easily become a real thing.
FirstDragonSlayer I agree that Bob Mortimer has better stories but he has been beaten at this game on some occasions whereas claudia hasn't been (as far as we know)
The thing about Claudia is that she does ALWAYS just the single bluff. If you wanted to beat her just pick the opposite of what she is trying to sell. In this case, if it would have been a truth she would have acted like she's stumbling to name and recall the animals. Bob varies between double bluffs, single bluffs and not bluffing at all which makes him a better player on the long run
I don't think she had lost any at the point they commented. They always guessed Claudia's stories wrong until a recent episode. I'm not sure it was even in the regular episode, I think it was in a compilation of extra bits.
Claudia's too good for this game. If it was true there is no way she would have sold it so strongly - she would have been off and uncertain about everything. She tweaked that the best way to get through this was to look at each of them and immediately go for an animal without thinking.
My best friend did this as a schoolboy. When he’d gone through all of us (years later), I asked him what he was, and with a straight face, he said: “The zookeeper.”
Claudia is one of the best guests on this show, not in small part because she's so fantastic at the game. I want to see her and Bob Mortimer on the same episode.
If it was Lee he would've said not true though, but since it's a team game he had to go for true. My bet is that he saw through her when she said she was part camel and part mouse.
HarbingerOfTruth1 I disagree. It is up to Lee to decide whether it is true or not; he is the team captain. He could have easily overruled. But even he was fooled by Claudian Chicanery (: 3:12
Lee always sounds like he's telling a lie. With Claudia you can never know. She mixes it up absolutely the right amount. There's sp much confidence in this but then again in the tortoise thing (which was true) she sounds like she's never even seen a tortoise.
Did anyone else google the animals she said they were t see if they looked like them? Rhod DOES look like a red setter puppy lol - even though it was a lie she is AMAZING to think them so quick!!!!
Notice how Claudia never really answered anyone's questions about why they were their respective animals (except for Jamie the ferret), or how that came about. She just repeated the animal names confidently, which threw everyone off her scent.
Has the other team ever guessed a Claudia lie/truth correctly? I actually don't think that's ever happened, even in the special guest/group rounds. She's so good.
Clara They guessed correctly about her getting stuck in a baby’s cot... but that might have happened later than you asked the question :)... she’s certainly amazing at the game
thecassman that happened later, and there's some suspicion that Lee saw her flapping the card around too much. (I don't know why the panellists cards have true/false on them, I guess they're exactly the same cards as Rob gets)
She seems like an eccentric sort of odd ball which she may be but man she is good at this game. Her creativity and dedication to the concept of the game is unparalleled.
It's such a Claudia thing to do and I can definitely see her doing it from now on lol. All the animals she picked were perfect for everyone especially the beaver for Lee. Such a great lie
Have we ever had Victoria Mitchell on a team opposite Claudia? I’d actually pay to see the most convincing liar against one of the best bluff detectors!!
I DO THIS TOO! They are all spot on, always thought lee looked more like a fox but the rest are so accurate! Edit, I watched until the end and saw it was a lie, wow I’ve made a fool out of myself hehe
I didn't like her at first either, to me she came across as very histrionic and playing the part of a dumb blonde who isn't blonde lol. But I've really come to appreciate how she never holds back and doesn't mind looking silly. I really like how she interacts with other panelists as well - some panelists are unengaged or communicates with the other team via their team captain, but Claudia always addressed everyone's questions herself and is always 100% present. She shows her own hosting chops I think :)
@@Delinae She's also arguably the best actual player of the game out of anyone, including the team captains. Out of the regulars, I can't think of anyone who has managed to fool the other team so often (though Bob Mortimer comes close).
"and your point is?"
This savage insult was snuk in nicely.
Claudia always cracks me up.
Aye, but he gave her the set up.

0:33 - She didn't even let him finish the question and said "ferret" straight away. What a brilliant woman.
Easily one of the best lies sold on the show. Great fast thinking.
May I remind you of "Yoshi the tortoise"
Not really, they don't press her for many details and they only ask for 6 people's animals. She's too obvious, I would've gone lie

David’s little pleased face when she says ‘owl’😂
And Rob's "I would love owl, I would've loved owl" hahah

A strange response from a man who admitted he is scared of owls.
a myth, owls are among the least intelligent birds. their brains are extremely small.

Those animals all really matched them 😂
I can see that. Definitely ferret for the reality eejit.
Not so sure Rhod is a puppy, I'd go more for like a bull or something
I think Rhod's such a puppy!
Agreed, Rhod is totally a puppy. Personally I think I would have gone with Irish Wolfhound rather than Red Setter, but still.

Jesus. I sat here reading the comments before the video.
And i was still 80% convinced she was telling the truth.
@Jake Well that could've just been ironic.
Why do you read comments before watching the video? Maybe Reddit is a platform that better fits your internet tastes

I thought she was just so bad at lying that she was just showing off her quirk
Claudia's too good for this game.

You actually can beat Claudia. She sells lies really well, when it's a truth she pretends to be flustered.
best lie I've heard
No, the best lie you have heard is something you still don't know is a lie

If you don't know it's a lie, how can you rate it?
That's true
Then it's not the best lie you've heard is it? Original statement works fine.

After she said beaver, i immediately saw the beaver resemblance.

Rhod looks so pleased to be a puppy!
Claudia Winkleman is freaking amazing at this game whenever she goes on.
I can't unsee the beaver in Lee Mack now.
I can't be the only one who thought "beaver" before Claudia said it.

I honestly think he resembles a husky puppy a little more.
Both breeds..actually..I don't know..
I saw him as a Scottish Terrier 😂
If I were Rhod I'd be pretty flattered.
lee calling claudia a meerkat is on spot too

Love these British TV shows. Same people on all shows but never a dull moment
I love this one because you can actually see a lot of logic in the animals she chooses hahaha

She may have lied about doing this but I bet she started doing it for real after this segment
What surprises me is that, despite it being a lie it was all so spot on. Now those are the animals I associate with them.
She was great with this one, what quick thinking! They do resemble those animals but it would have taken me longer to think of them. 😁
Wow, the animals she gave them all completely match them. Claudia is an absolute gun at this game
