So cool! I’ve lived in different parts of the New Orleans metro area my entire life (River ridge, Kenner, now Metairie), but I don’t venture to New Orleans as often as I would like! After watching this video, I plan to visit the museum within the next few weeks. Thank you for all the information. My favorite museum in NOLA is the WWII museum!!!! It’s changed so much since it opened, but it’s amazing! Can’t wait to go back
I so appreciate this! I just came from New Orleans and this place came highly recommended. Since covid, however, they are not open regular hours. I did visit a shop called Dark Matter that contained a book called Do No Harm. It was written by Kate Lacour about treatments found at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. Well worth the purchase.
Interesting background information and escorted walk through of the building interior. So interesting about the use of the 'soda fountain', so cool, I never would have thought pharmacy & soda fountain were tied together. Such an informative video & probably one of the most interesting video I've seen for a long time. Thanks for all the background information that you shared with us.
I’ve watched videos on this place before, but yours was much more informative and had me hooked beginning to end. I really have to get back to NOLA! There’s so much culture there!!
Well I've seen it here first. Everything has a museum lol Very awesome vlog dude I love weird history and you captured the museum perfectly learned a lot.
Thank you!! :) I shot a lot more video, but I didn't want to give the entire place away.. I want people to still go visit it. It's an amazing place! Thanks for watching :)
Oh man, this is too cool. Also have prob walked by this a bunch of times and didn’t even know it was there. My mom would dig this since she’s a pharmacist. Making sure to send this video to her. Another great video!
Coca cola had narcotic in it originally later removed when people appeared far too happy after drinking one lol👍👍Great find Nola deej you did good!!💛💙💜💖💚💜
1:14 - Orange Flower Water?!? I didn't know my family was also in New Orleans! 1:58 - Oh wow indeed! Isn't there a rule about wearing purple pants after Labor Day? For shame dude! 2:51 - You are correct sir. Pepsi was invented this way in New Bern, NC. 6:59 - Any free samples? 9:08 - That is awesome! For some reason, it didn't want to accept my card though. 9:15 - Tim Tracker?!? That is place is awesome! Nice work as always dude!
Another NOLA feature I've certainly walked past dozens of times and not noticed. Very interesting. NOTE; Mark . . . 7:15 . . . In the 19th century, “Pharmacists worked in secret to enhance the mystery and alchemy of their profession.” The enhancing of the mystery and alchemy of the medical profession was, and is, largely practiced in medical practice in general in the 19th 20th and into the 21st c. That’s partly why laws were, and are being, enacted and why the field of Medical Ethicist was developed in the 1990s. Nothing new under the sun. The grandest illusion is that people today are an improvement over people of any time in the past. (‘Cept, of course, for you and me; but I’m keeping my eye on you.) :-)
Well, I think we're, or our medical treatments are vastly improved - we don't prescribed breathing creosote vapors to help breathing problems or blood-lettingbto alleviate headaches - and many other 'medical treayments' noted in this video. I think most people would agree that medicines and treatments are vastly improved over the 1800's. There was also a history lesson with this video about how medical issues were not just treated by physicians but also the barber. A very well done video and important history lesson as how all this background pertains to 'the modern age'. So much info in a short video. Very well presented and informative. Thank you to the presenter, writer & videographer for a job well done & your time. MKL Vancouver BC Canada
At the 3:12 mark, you mention that the products contained alcohol and narcotics and the label says "Alternative Juice". So, that's what they used to call it!!
So that's the reason for all those little wrought iron gates in between buildings that lead to court yards that you see in NOLA. Never knew it was customary to enter the building that way if you were family..I guess it's like the modern equivalent of entering through the garage if you are family or a friend.
Dude, this video is SO good that we HAD to stop at the halfway mark. Why? Because the comments we posted were stacking up every few seconds. If we post any more comments, RUclips will flag all of them as "spam". And we don't want that to happen. We will be back tomorrow to see the rest of your video.

I didn't know that either until I started researching this place. Pretty interesting stuff!
