- The Sims 5 is not yet announced, but when the time comes it is going to be important that EA/Maxis fix some errors from the past and improve upon their formula. These are the things many players care about. I've thought about the many gameplay elements, what to keep and what to toss, in order to make Sims 5 a great Sims game.

Exactly! Mods should be there for those who want extras and new bits of stuff, it should not be used to fill in ALL that is missing and to just make the game playable.
I agree that the base game should be mostly "feature complete" at release and that we shouldn't have to turn to mods for solutions, especially when gameplay options should be much more robust, but mods will always exceed the possibilities of a single development team and should be celebrated not avoided

It's definitely evolved, but evolution isn't always a good thing. In the animal kingdom, evolution can actually cause the extinction of an animal because it doesn't always happen in good ways. Video games are the same. Evolution itself is just about a change, not necessarily a good change. And Sims 4 is *not* a good change from the past Sims games

If we don’t have open worlds we should have open neighborhoods! I shouldn’t need a loading screen to go across the street
The problem with open world is that it wouldn't work on every engine.
But it would be nice to have the option to turn it on/off for players with a good pc

Other games people play just fine that are open ... Assassin's Creed, Star Wars, World of Warcraft, Black Desert Online, Guild Wars 2..If everyone and their brother can play these. WHY can't EA/Sims build a decent game??

I would say Sims 3 in CAS as well. The complexions have always been a problem in sims 4.

The worst thing about the sims 4 is that, yeah, ok they released an unfinished product...but they could've fixed it later, they could've redeemed themselves And instead they released the most lackluster packs from the whole saga, every update broke the game in some way and mods have become more and more essential than ever before. They did absolutely nothing to turn that unfinished product into a finished one. And then they complain about the hate they receive....
Yeah, after 6 months go by without fixes or improvements to a pack ti starts to feel hopeless. I guess money talks more so than anything so while it still sells well, we won't get the action desired.
I think they're working on the basis of 'people will buy it anyway because we have the monopoly'. Sad state of affairs.

Im a console player who is very poor (so no new pc on the horizon for me) but that also means...no mods 😭😭😭😂 It just sucks...and for whatever reason... The pets and first pets thingy pack can only be bought in bundles, not individually!!!? Wtf even is this anymore
I feel like the Sims 4 has just been one big experiment, like they're trying out stuff on us - We're their unpaid testing department. They give us little tidbits of things here and there to keep us coming back, but never the full meal. We should not be 6 years in still wondering why we don't have bunkbeds, cars or spiral staircases. It's insulting.

But seriously TS4 feels like it never really came out of beta. Things work, but are either unfinished or lackluster.
The crashing after snowy escape update, and one of my mods causes an infinite load.

That shouldn't be a problem - knowing EA? There won't BE any modding...
Think about it, Sims 4 already made it IMPOSSIBLE to have custom worlds - what ELSE will they remove for Sims 5?
my favorite sims 3 expansion was late night hands down. it came with celebrities, vampires, high rises, clubs, lounges, new careers and so much more. the fact that i have to buy city living, get famous, AND the vampire expansion/game packs separately to get the same effect is a bit frustrating. i hate comparing the two but it’s bound to happen.
I spent YEARS playing ts3 with late night as my only expansion pack and I never got bored. But with ts4 even after getting most of their packs I still got bored after a few days and eventually went back to ts3.

ABSOLUTELY THIS omg!! I only bought the base game for TS4 because everything else felt like throwing money into a dumpster on fire. I wasn't about to spend $100 for my sim to be able to be a famous vampire living in an apartment...
btw i think it's inevitable and kinda needed to compare the two. sims 4 was supposed to be a step forward, to take all the good stuff from previous parts and add new, cooler stuff, so in comparison the game itself would be considered up to date and fresh, yet also familiar for those who've played previous ones. without comparison, sims 4 actually is a decent (im really, REALLY stretching the term right here) game! if you just play sims 4 and don't think about how much more fun the experience could have been, it, uh, yeah, it still got massive flaws, but overall feels like something that looks and sounds fun to play, especially with advertising and all that.
also at this point im really impressed and kinda scared of people who choose to pay for this burning pile of scam. like. why would anyone give ea money at this point
Why not compare? It is inevitable... I even compare ts4 with the 2! In TS2 I had "open for business" and I could have whatever business, sell whatever I wanted, own a restaurant and go to dinner!
But TS4 needs get to work to have a store and dine out to have a restaurant 😑

Of course they won't do it. Putting in challenges and goals to achieve makes people "feel bad" if they don't do it, which is why it's not in Sims 4. The result of a Participation Trophy generation, everyone wants something to make them "feel good" without actually working hard or putting in any effort for that feeling. No risk, all reward is the common mentality these days. That said, EA will just shove something out for Sims 5, unfinished, full of bugs and glitches, for a quick cash grab and continue to grab more and more cash because they know it will sell, that's the corporate mindset. Just like how Sims 4 is now. I'll stick with 2 and 3.
I'd argue EA likely watched this video, and are using it as an idea bucket "don't make it required always online"

I was playing sims 3 yesterday and some random woman shower up to my sims birthday party, got up onto a tabletop and started dancing wildly. Then I realised she had the party animal and excitable traits. Now that's personality!
In sims 3 all kind of strangers showed up to parties. It was strange but I didn't mind having a bit bigger party than I originally wanted to
I always got so pissed when strangers showed up because they'd always mess with my toddlers. Trying to get the parents to stop, grab the kid, and have them blow out candles was hard enough, but adding in a total stranger who won't stop picking up and setting down the kid is infuriating

I would like to see story progression/telling like the sims 3. I really enjoyed watching random sims grow old, get married, and have kids. It made the game feel more real, like the game would age along with your sims.

Yeah, actually have them play 1,2,3 and 4 and pick out the best aspects to put into 5. That's also important for them to realize what TS4 was lacking and what worked with the game.
@@12wer3wer9 right? it's a franchise and even though ts4 brought a lot of new players a lot of us have been here from the start, so we know what the other games offered and it's strange that things don't just keep changing for the better, the franchise has regressed in a lot of ways. take the strengths of past games, make references etc, small details make for a better experience for players.
TS2 was released in '04 and in development for a few years even before that. So many details that are important and present in the base game. Even genetics from the grandparents could factor into a sim's child in 2, unlike 4. TS2 formula worked. TS3 also explored new avenues and worked, too.
trust me they know how to do it but they choose not to because EA is a very greedy gaming platform, this is the company that puts in game unskippable ads in Madden games

@@Inkedalic3 You can set the length of the sims' entire lifespan to "short", "normal" or "long" and can set the length of seasons in general. But you can't have sims be toddlers for longer than they are kids for instance, or have winter be longer than spring.
@@Inkedalic3 Not in the way that it did in TS3. I had lifespans of over 1000 days, and my season lengths were tailored to match. I don't have the kind of control that they are discussing in this video, and there's no logic for not having it since (without mods) we don't even have story progression for NPCs.

They absolutely need to release with all relevant life stages, and make them meaningful. They can't pull another Sims 4 where they didn't give us toddlers and only half-assed teens.

Sims 4: Babies with no gameplay, no toddlers at all, okay children but a bit too immature when you're representing 12 year olds, teens that are young adults that go to school and can't marry or get pregnant(and there are mods that do all of those), okay young adults, adults that are carbon copies of young adults, and elders that behave just like adults.

Exactly. The jump from child to teenagers is way too unrealistic and large, there should at least be a pre-teen life stage. And babies shouldn’t have to be glued to their cribs...
I personally don't care for toddlers - but I wish they had a tween stage.

I’m still upset that horses were left out of pets, they had the best gameplay in sims 3 of all the pets/animals. And finding wild horses and the rare unicorn was always so fun. I hope they give us a farming expansion with horses in sims 4, and if not... I really hope we see them come back in sims 5. The equine community is constantly scraping for good horse games and sims 3 had us all hooked for a while...

Some years back, I remember thinking about how The Sims 4 had gone on for about 4 years, the average time the previous three main games had lasted, and hoped The Sims 5 would be announced soon (and be an improvement), then read how they had a couple more years of content planned for The Sims 4, and I was just so disappointed that the objectively worst entry in the series is the one receiving the longest attention.

I really hope they stop making pets, seasons and possibly university. How can you play a life simulator without pets or seasons? It’s stupid that they haven’t incorporated them into the base game.
THANK-YOU! I’ve been saying this for years and have never seen anyone else mention it. The stuff added in expansions should be in the next base game. It’s such a greedy move to make people pay for content that’s been in the game since sims 1! Expansions should add things we’ve never had before.

This but for clothes was one of the things I thought they could improve in Sims 5. I had literally no idea that it was a thing in Sims 3 that was cut out of Sims 4.
Or maybe a drawing feature so you don't just edit colors you can edit the design as a whole.

Sims 3 isn't even a game anymore, it's a "starter pack" where you can get bonuses for sims 4. And all sims 3 expansions is still the same price as when they were released.

Literally the only good thing about that worthless pack are the lifestyles, and of course those of us would never have them without the pack. Instead, we get useless "Sentiments." Things they constantly pop up as notifs every few seconds to tell you that you, once again, are sharing "happy memories" with *every. single. sim. around. you.*
@@nyxnightmare3542 i don’t like lifestyles, i don’t have snowy escape but from what i’ve seen they don’t do much except for making the game easier in some aspects which does not help cause this game is already TOO easy, no matter what lifestyle you have sims always ger perks, (i wish they(and celebreties and spellcaster as well as ever other ocoult) were more like vampires where sims can have negative effects by being a vampire, it’s more balanced as you become a stronger vampire you also become weaker in some aspects, which makes the gmae harder) lifestyles don’t even give your sims any personality, the sims act the same before and after getting a lifestyle
Even though most of the community askes for them to make the game harder, the sims team keeps giving us ways to make the game easier, the same thing happend with tiny living(in my opinion it has the same problem occoults, lifestyles and celebreties it gives you an award and makes the game easier for absolutely NO reason, and don’t say that tiny homes are balanced cause you get perks for living in a small area which makes the game harder, MOST starter homes are under 100 tiles, living in a small place does NOT make the game harder it even EASIER cause tiny homes give you perks)

OH, also, please make actions a reasonable length of time. peeing for an hour, showering for 2.. homework for 8 hours!! Plots should be able to integrate into the neighbourhood, too.

For those who started from the sims one until now like myself this is a huge let down it’s been over 6 years and so many players are begging for Generations! I miss how the game felt so realistic, how the environment around my sims grew(sims married, had babies,passed away) and I enjoyed how the sims interacted with one another, like going to see grandma actual felt like seeing grandma but now it’s like just seeing a another random sim. And let’s be clear! They want us to believe we “voted” on these packs...come on people knitting?
Okay but... the community did vote on knitting as the theme for the pack. Wasn’t my own choice, but it’s not like it came out of nowhere...
I had more issue with the Star Wars pack (and that is coming from a Star Wars fan) because that was something barely anyone voted for. They should have just been honest and said "we're contractually obligated to make a Star Wars pack".
Omg yes, my sim has a step-dad and he just straight up forgot his step-dad existed when he moved away. Like this dude helped raise you since you were a toddler and you're just going to forget he's a thing cause you aren't blood related???

@@GAshoneybear I don't mind the Star Wars pack existing as long as I don't have to buy it. They can make five more Star Wars packs for all I care.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Give me a remastered Sims 2 with the open world and expansions of Sims 3 and CAS and build mode of Sims 4 and I'm happy. Put in all the aspects players love most, generational gameplay, difficult challenges, actual life simulation, lore, and give us those things right on the day the game is released. Patches are for fixing bugs, not so you can bring out an unfinished game. I will not buy Sims 5 just because it's The Sims, if it doesn't give me what I want, I won't waste my money on it on the promise that it will get better over time, like I did with Sims 4. I hope enough people will do the same, so EA's strategy of relying on name recognition and their (current) monopoly on the genre will stop working, but my hopes aren't high. I have more hope in Paralives than in Sims 5.

The Sims 2 memory system was pretty great! I know the introduced memories in TS3 as well, but honestly that was a pretty lousy system that mostly just caused annoying pop-ups (don't get me wrong, TS3 is by far my favorite game, but that memory system just ain't it)

@@Momo-po5tn HELL YES!!! Even if it's a relatively basic one I really want there to be one. TS2 had a super basic attraction system and I thought that was a lot of fun, so even if they just did something kinda like that (but perhaps with more options) I'd be really happy!
Yes, the sims where truly unique. It was hard to replicate a hole life placed in their memories, if even possible
I really hope they add cut scenes to special moments in the sims 5 like they did in the sims 2. It would be so much better

I really want moodlets instead of emotions... I know some of you won't agree but I'm sick of my sim feeling inspired, sad, uncomfortable, happy and flirty at the same time.
A sim sees another fall dead before them, but they are happy because the room is "Well Decorated"

I remember playing sims2 for hours and hours and hours as a kid. There was so much to try with our without cheats. But i just can't get myself to play sims4 for more than 20 minutes.

@@ednaoverboard1052 I've installed the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and it still stands as such an amusing game that you can play for hours. I've had people with random lifetime wishes I can't control, a good attraction system and interests that push what they want to do and unlock more interactions about hobbies, plus a lot of random things that happen (getting abducted, very often getting demoted or even losing your job, Sims being smart enough to get proper angry when cheating is involved even if they weren't physically in a room when you did it). It's challenging, has so many things to do and every sim actually feels different. As an example in a household with nerds who all work in the science field you have three brothers, and although they work in the same place, their interests and personalities are completely different so they feel like different people. People with different aspirations also get completely different wants and fears, which obviously makes sense. Overall the Sims 4 gameplay seems so empty in comparison and I use it just to build 😂
@@DiggandDugg Building was better in SIms 2 as well. Use your cheats. Constrainflooelevations will be your best friend to creating unique designs. The ability to change floor and wall tiles opens the door to split levels, basement garages, working windows and exterior doors in basements, cathedral ceilings in one room and normal height in an adjacent room and maybe even a sunken floor in that room or an attached garage while the house is on a foundation. It could also be used to create twisting stairwells and hidden levels between floors for those family vaults ... only your imagination could limit you because the tools are that much better.
... Not to mention that the Sims 2 was the only version where you could make your own maps or edit existing ones, and you could change simple ini values to allow you to place lots on cliffsides and build homes into the side of them. We can't even change the neighborhood decorations anymore let alone edit the actual map or change the size or location of lots.
The only thing the Sims 4 has over the Sims 2 as far as building goes is the round wall tool ... and that can be faked in Sims 2 with mods or you can embrace the octagons.
I just need the open world back, I never go anywhere in the sims 4 because I can only go to one lot at the time and I can't stand the loading screens. In the sims 3 I'm always out and about, my sim will be out having an affair with the neighbor while the kids are out at the park, that's the way it should be, let me go places! I would rather have the game freeze for a minute every hour than sit through two minutes of loading screen every time my sim goes somewhere.
Yeah, my problem is how limited the AI is when I'm gone. Nothing else gets done by my other Sims. I also miss being able to send everyone off on their own adventure and that could work fine if we have big open neighborhoods where you can access multiple lots without a loading screen, but I don't need the entire world to be open again so that the lots are empty and everyone is late to work/school because traveling takes so long. XD
The problem, I think, isn't so much the loading screens as it is the fact that there's nothing fun beyond them. Why go through a loading screen to visit practically empty lots and do things you could do at your sim's home anyway? Sims 2 at least made going out worth it.

A lot of the community lots are wanting and the things you actively need but can't find room for, like the rocket ship, microscope, and telescope aren't on any of the pre-existing lots (except perhaps the Hospital or Science lab?) So you have to shove it into your yard/fake garage, add it to some random lot or create a dedicated lot, or wait for Geek Con if you have City Living (for the rocket ship.) That reminds me, I like the festivals but some of them also feel rather empty and if you play one of the City Living careers where you can work from home but don't live in San Myshuno, it can be a pain to get a task done in time. The events in Sulani and Mt. Komorebi also seem rather lackluster although Komorebi at least has one devoted to kids. I think it's all really good ideas, I loved the festivals in Sims 3, but in Sims 4 the execution could be better. This is also why the Secret Lots fell out of favor... it's a great idea but there's not much to do there.
@@DoveJS That's my biggest disappointment with TS4. There's cool ideas and legitimately good new things that I love, but the execution lacks so much in so many areas that I can't help but see all of the wasted potential.
I highly recommend people who can buy sims games to not immediately buy The Sims 5 when it comes out, wait and watch for a week or 2 how it looks fully and _then_ make a decision.

I Agree fully, but EA will jump to content creators to throw out some big features the game has and market it until people buy it. Simple enough the game will more than likely be an online game piled with micro transactions through the roof.

I feel the same way. The money grabbing was bad in sims 3 but this? This is ridiculous. While there were way too many dlc options for the sims 3 at least they felt like they had some substance and we didn’t have to grovel for things that should have been in the game at launch like babies and toddlers. I’ve completely lost faith in EA. Catch me playing paralives or whatever. I’m done with EA’s greed.
Like literally every console game you can wait and pick up with all DLC after a few years. Sims 4 is over half a decade old and instead of making any affordable bundles they keep releasing full price content that costs an arm and a leg. That expansion/game pack/stuff pack thing is ridiculous when there’s a gazillion stuff packs and so on. You could spend $100 a year on Sims 4 content and still not catch up. Forget it. I’m done. It’s a shame but their sims franchise is headed the way of their basketball games.

I played ts4 only once and never ever ever ever fing again. And I continued with ts3 because it's like the top and best they could do in ts series. Ts2 was also great. But ts4... I do not even count it in the series... Like it never happened and after ts3 they just stopped. So I am still waiting for a proper ts4
We should be able to go to high school, middle school, etc. and interact with people instead of just letting time pass. Even with jobs, we should be able to at least watch them work.

That's what I did with our old games and I've been enjoying sims3 again 😊 unfortunately you can't do the same with sims 2, but if you have a mac you can get the complete sims 2 with expansions for around $20 I think from the apple store. You can also find a free download link for sims 2
I’m not sure why in Sims 4, the other households won’t get into relationships and start families on their own. It’s so time consuming trying to pair sims together, and give them kids so that the town stays populated.

It’s unfortunate that one of the worst companies in gaming owns the rights to this franchise. EA purposely releases half-assed titles so you buy expansions. They did this when they released Star Wars battlefront where it only had 4 maps and you had to buy the other ones.

This is EA we're talking about. Before they gobbled up the Sims, there was innovation. But EA has a tendency to devour other gaming developers and leach all the good out of them . So I will be surprised if indeed 5 comes out and it isn't just more of the same tepid bland oatmeal that Sims 4 is.

For me, The Sims 5 needs a Steam Workshop equivalent of sorts, a unified Gallery for finding, installing and enabling mods and CC. It's something that needs improvement but has stayed relatively the same for decades now, and the modding community is what has kept their games alive.

I would like to add something more to this list: more things toddlers and kids can do, and being able to control or at least see what you're animals needs are
To see the animal's needs they have the "what's wrong" option, but I think they should have an option to enable viewing your pets needs or disable it, because alot of people want this and alot of ppl dont. Personally I dont because it would be weird for me to control the pet, because the point of pets is you cant control them like a sim.

Brings back memories of Sims 3 World Adventures. That was one of their earliest expansions in that version & it never worked right. Still loved Sims 3 more than any other version, tho.
I know a lot of people hated the sims 3 store but I loved being able to buy special assets without having to get a whole pack.
Yep, we were more aggressive about being negative on the money grubbing thing back then but in retrospect, knowing how much we've spent here, it was nice to be able to buy things ala carte and it gave them opportunities to make unique objects that do not fit in this or that pack, and without it needing to line up with launch dates.
The most important thing is missing... WE NEEEDDD to change the colour and pattern of all objects like in sims 3.
Yeah. Like, even if they didn’t want to go full Create-a-style, being able to change the colors and patterns of furniture and clothing is a must. It’s ridiculous that I have to jump through so many hoops to find something like a neutral wooden frame bed with nice purple sheets that doesn’t make my eyes bleed.

After playing things like Crusader Kings 3 and Sims spinoffs like Medieval, RPG and life simulation options seem to fit fairly well with strategy if you blend it right. CK3 actually reminds me more of Sims 3 than 4 does sometimes. I would give anything with good gameplay a try.
Sims 4 is already a Turn-Based Strategy... that's one of the reasons it lags. Waiting on the queue and other Sims to respond lol.
@@lapislarka Yeah! I absolutely love how indept CK3's characterization goes - and you don't even move them around! The whole thing about life going on around you is amazing, your enemies and allies gain spouses and get children and sometimes they even die young. I remember that a neighboring petty kingdom had gone through a bloody war - AUTONOMOUSLY MIND YOU - and the 10 year old heir was the only surviving member. I had spent hours going head to head with this heir (who proved to be an amazing warrior and general as he aged). It really did feel like the characters around my own had personalities, giving me a childish glee that I got back when I played TS3 for the first time.
I would definitely want that kind of progression in a sims game!
Personally, I am waiting for Alex to finish Paralives so I can walk away from the Sims Franchise completely. I am tired of incomplete packs and the only thing decent is new items to build with and hardly ever any gameplay value. I shouldn't have to use mods to make the game interesting and do things that made Sims 2 and Sims 3 amazing games without ever touching a mod.

If open world "won't work" on every platform why is there a GTA game on every platform? It is possible
Performance isn't an excuse when we have games like GTA5 (that's already a old game), to me they don't want to take risks. TS4 is the best builder and have the best fluidity by allowing your Sim to perform a lot of things at once (and honestly, once you get used to this it's hard to go back to the older games), but the game simply lack of any kind of goal.
The Sims in 4 never experience things at once. The multitasking is just an illusion. It's just two things cued at the same time and Sims switching between them, but stopping one thing to do the other. They eat and then stop to talk or watch television and stop to eat then talk and continue watching the tv. Even the skill gain stops while they are doing something else in the multitasking part. In 3 and 2 we had some forms of actual multitasking. Like for example talking to another sim in the sauna and having a mud bath at the same time. Or socializing while doing homework. I've also run into more obscure instances such as the mother watching TV while her toddler was on the block table, and they were chatting to each other at the same time. But I agree that multitasking could be improved in 5.
I got back to Sims 2 and i'm having so much fun...the dept of the Sims personality...even the graphics don't bother me...
The main difference between GTA and Sims is that NPCs in GTA are just stand ins. They don't do anything, they are dumb, can barely drive, and just every now and then do scripted things. An NPC in the Sims is probably at least 15x more complex than any NPC in any other game because of what they are required to do. People should realize that the perfect version of a Sims game is the actual Matrix.
So it's kind of impossible to ask for complex relationships, emotions, personalities...not even the best of the best AI programmers can achieve that today, forget about your average game dev.
@@Aeeeoi I would totally agree with you if you were to talk about a TS2 or 3 NPCs. But TS4 NPCs are as dumb as they get. They stand around smiling, doing sit ups and joining every private conversation, with no sence of realism to them. I prefer GTA NPCs to those. When you talk to them on their phone and they tell you that it's late and they are sleeping you can still travel to their house and everyone would be awake cooking burgers at 3 in the morning every time. If you jump from one world to the next you meet the same annoying Sims you left in your home world, like Nancy Landgrab. This woman is even waiting for you at Batuu. 🙄
With TS3 they had an almost perfect system in theory. But it was not optimized well and couldn't take advantage of the hardware that was available to them. The whole game only uses 4GB Ram and you can't change that. But there are still a lot of possibilities there.
With some Mods you can have an open world that cleans and fixes itself every night, by deleting random objects, stuck Sims and the likes. There was a mod to travel between worlds and move freely without losing progress and connections.
The Sims around you all had jobs, hobbies and interests based on their personality. Those Sims would be at sleep at night, sometimes protesting their cause at the City Hall, in general living their lives earning money, getting married and progressing in live next to your Sims. You wouldn't meet a shy nervous Sim alone at a night club. If you wanted to you could spend the whole day watching the neighborhood living their lives, wittness their sscandals, achievements and heartbreaks. Of course you could switch it up and with another mod you could have a neighborhood like in TS2 where unplayed Sims didn't change.
You could detail every little aspect of the progression, who was allowed to do what and with whom. How many supernatural Sims there were, animals, cars on the road and a lot more.
Another big factor is that you could build your own world from the ground up, exactly how you wanted to play. There were options if you didn't want any rabbit hole too. If you had a bad PC you could live in a world with only a few lots or even on 1 if you really wanted to. If you had a beast of a machine you could play with 200 lots and as many Sims as your game could handle. Simmers are way more creative than EA, so there are 1000s of worlds with any style and look you could wish for. Making you able to play a realistic Zombie apocalypse, on the moon, another planet, underwater, in a major city, in real world locations, La La Land, tropical locations, worlds with zebras and much more.
The biggest pro for me is that you could play EVERY Sim in you family at the same time. With a mod you could even switch to random unplayed Sims with 2 clicks, without loading screen. I hate how in 4 after I come back, my whole family is in the red and I can't see what they have been up to for the time I was away with one active Sim.
i agree. performance shouldn’t be an excuse when the sims fanbase made a whole mod to delete unnecessary items and fix stuck sims to improve performance. and it made sense cuz why do all these NPCs have the sloppy jalopy car in their inventories?? i’m only half kidding but maxis could learn a thing or two from these modders

Also back to Sims 2. Slowly getting used to everything, but having so much fun...damn is hard to make money and evolve without cheating, but i love it...family with two kids and two dogs - i can barely keep them from starving or peeing themselfs the whole time...love it 😁
Sims 2 had so many hidden gems. Like washing babies in the sink, having 2 hungry toddlers fighting over a bottle. Having a kid walk in on his parents making out and feel so embarrassed, light a fire inside, and no matter how hard you tell them to put it out, they insist on running inside to save the toddler, only once the toddler is safely outside they will start putting out the fire. Sims 2 has THE best gameplay. What I really miss in both 3 and 4 is the album. Sims 3 and 4 is easier if you want to make a story online, but what if I just want a story for the families in my game? If I haven't played a family for a while, I want to be able to click on the album from that family and see all the pictures and the texts I wrote for them.

I also really like the memory system, it was so cool looking at it after playing with a sim for a while and remembering all their significant memories. I also love how you could even make your own memories. It just felt like they had a life before everything.
