I WANT ONE OF THESE CARS! I've searched on line but I can't find any local dealerships for De Dion Boutons, Darracqs or Picard-Pictecs. Dammit, I'm 110 years too late.
Well spotted Shane. I agree that it looks like there is only one spark plug connected on the left bank, but all I can say is that it also looks like there is exhaust coming from the other cylinders as the car drives away.
We have a selection of these cars at Shuttleworth every year for our Race Day. We had Blue Bird from The National Motor Museum this year and normally the Napier Railton from Brooklands. I drove our 1903 De Dietrich, and have just finished preparing it for the London to Brighton run on November 5th. I would love to compete with it but don’t think the Charity Trustees would let me sadly.
Hi John, It is good to see how much interest there is in the Edwardian cars. I visited Brooklands and the National Motor Museum a few years ago on a trip to investigate my fathers driving activities in the 1930's. He raced in 2 Double 12 races at Brooklands, in an MG Midget, and other races and did 6 Monte Carlo rallies including 2 with Donald Healey, so its great to see these old cars still being campaigned. Chris Montgomery (no relation to John, by the way)
Clearly, the Curtiss V8 aero engine was the go-to power plant for competition cars in Edwardian times (but, at 8:58, only one spark plug seems to be connected on the left bank of cylinders?).

Excellent footage, well filmed and edited. Thanks. 😜👍🏼
really awesome video my friend!!
I bet there are more Curtis engines being used in cars than planes.
That Berliet Curtiss and the Oakland are some cool machines. There are others two but I want one of those.
celle la elle est génial. J'adore ces bagnoles 👍

9 liters of power, The last one had quite a few gears. A lot would beat a modern car
Thank you i loved the video.
Thanks for posting!

Does it have dual spark plugs?
