Andy, tip from a retired diamond drilling and saw man. Fix a sacrificial wooden batten, on the intended saw cut line. Gives a straighter edge and saves losing your cut line. Alternatively use indelible marker or spray paint. Lastly turn the water right down so that it forms a slurry paste. It saves flooding the floor and still maintains the dust suppression. Watch the HAV’s with the breaker use. Great job and take care.
There's a lot of brick collectors up here in the north east Andy, spotted a nice Seghill brick there, there's a brick swap in Blaydon every year, people come from all over the country, north east bricks are very sought after...
Great update mate. Please post more progress on the public channel pleeeeease! Oh, and add milk to coffee first, not boiling water. You won’t burn the coffee so much then 😉
Nice one Andy but rookie error not taking a Barrow 😬🤦🏻. We gave up on GoPro back at no 10. They are garbage 🗑️ . Ours switches off with low battery 🪫 at 60% ! The DJI osmo action camera is brilliant we have the 3, the 4 is out now . On the 4 if you have the DJI mics they connect using Bluetooth doing away with an annoying receiver sticking out of the side of the camera 📷 🧱👍🏽
Ha cheers Steve! Wish I still had my truck... but eventually man-handled the barrow in to the back of our Fiesta 😂. I had a GoPro 5 and it was really terrible - I swore I'd never buy another one. Then I bought a 10 since I heard it was better for time lapses... but it's still terrible 😭. Same problem with battery life - especially during a time lapse. What's the point of a time lapse if the battery goes flat in 15 mins? 😂 Rant over. I've heard lots of good things about the DJI! May have to take the plunge. 👍
Hi Andy. Always amazing how much rubble is produced by removing a relatively small amount of wall , and interesting how someone at some point went to a lot of effort not to do what you have . But over the years when I was working , I’d come across things which would have you scratching your head in disbelief . But in the end it tends to come down to money , and if that’s in short supply I suppose we shouldn’t be too hard on those who went before . 😊 Kind regards as always 👍
What are your thoughts on blown cavity insulation for this kind of property? I've started getting offers to get it free on some government scheme but everything I've read says don't touch with a barge pole.
Interesting - AFAIK it's needed to bump up the EPC. Don't know a huge amount about the topic. Personally I think it's great - never had any issues and been in multiple houses with it. 👍
Milk first then coffee! If you pour boiling water directly in to coffee granules it will burn the coffee and impair the flavour. As opposed to tea where water then milk is the right way 👌 otherwise great work!
You mentioned a stud wall. Shame you can't take the rest of the wall out between the kitchen and old bathroom and have a nice open plan kitchen/dinner.
We debated this but a 3rd bedroom is probably more useful and one day the kitchen could always be extended out the back if needs be. It's only a tiny house though so doesn't really need a huge kitchen. 👍
I'm afraid Gold memberships are closed at the moment since the list was getting a bit long. I'll put a thing in my newsletter once it's open again: gosforthhandyman.com/newsletter/ 👍
I'd remove all the plaster instead of just over boarding it. The wall we had to rebuild on the edges had 3 one side and 2 the other. If I'd taken it back to brick I might have gained a couple of square feet.

Great tip! I was way too disorganised for these cuts but worst case I could follow the perps but you're 100% correct about the batten - thank you! 👍👍
Great suggestions 👍
I love how demolition videos that are sped up make it look like you're really pissed off with the wall and need to get rid of it.

I think that's where I got my reclaimed bricks from! 👍
Fascinating, I had no idea that 'brick swaps' existed. Logical now that I think about it...

Loads more to come! 😎 With instant if you put milk in first it goes lumpy. 👍
Big toys for a big boy. It makes the job easier but it still takes muscle power. Great job Andy and thank you for bringing me along on your journey 🌞
I was in pain the next day - not sure which muscles got the workout but my back certainly felt it! 😂😎
Thanks Andy, a hard and messy job, but it will transform the layout of that little house - keep 'em coming !
Thanks for the kind words - should be nice once it's all done!
Great job Andy and a great job of tidying as you go. Working clean is much better than being up to your knees in cr_p. Cheers.

The GoPro flicker is because you have it set to 60hz and we have 50hz power in the UK. Set it to 50hz, no more flicker.
It's a time lapse on 1s shots at 25fps. Sometimes it flickers, sometimes it doesn't. 🤷♂️
13:59 That brick wasn't having any of your Whoohoos, Andy, it rolled right back down 😄
Job well done, looking forward to the next videos!
I know - I was so exhausted by that point too. 😂
Hi Andy, Good job, you got the wall down, it does open the room up. The ideas are endless now. As always a great video take care
Cheers - yeah really glad that's out of the road! 😁
Are you taking the rest walls and ceiling back to brick then? Glad things went ok.
Another great video Andy, thank you for sharing.
Cheers Terry!
Great job Andy
Cheers Lewis! 👍👍

Cheers! There's certainly a lot of head scratching in this house! 😁
As always, keeping the job tidy Andy. A good tradesman or t'woman sweeps up after each task...!
Cheers - can't abide a messy site! 😂
Genuine question…what DO you do with all those bricks? Just fill a skip, boot of the car to the dump or are they usable elsewhere?
I managed to salvage about 20 whole bricks from all that. The rest were used as hardcore / back fill for other projects.
Love your content, Never known anyone to make a mess look to tidy :D I mean that kindly :D
I have always wondered about the quality of the Evolution tools, they seem to be mid markets from what I can tell.
Yeah, they're OK. Not great... but OK for the price. 👍

My sense of taste is shot anyway, no way on earth I could tell the difference. 😎👍

It never occurred to me that my chainsaw dungarees are waterproof - thanks for the tip!
No worries! Works great!
Keeps the blood in !
Have you bought this house to flip it .
Not reusing any of the bricks for external wall? They should be a good match 🤔
There were only about 20 that came out in one piece sadly 😭. Re-used some of them though.
How do you become a gold member

That sounds like fun! 💪 Thank you!
@ was great fun. Would do all again any day of the week 🤣
You made very little mess compared to me, I was just swinging for the hills 🤣

Oh defo - I don't like to over-board on old plaster. It all fell off the wall quite easily. 😁👍
Get a wet vac
Got one! What for btw?
