Not sure I'll ever use Michael's system, but I appreciate such a detailed video and the honesty in his commentary. I also love how he bigs-up Fernando at every opportunity!
Man, I been watching the PureMix video about how everything is set up and works and I am glad he bigs-up Fernando, cause that guy is a beast! The attention to detail and his ability to come up with all those creative solutions to Michael's problems was something I found quite impressive and inspiring! He is an important part of the Brauer-Team!
The thing about Overthinking is very important theme, I think Michael could get more deep into this problem, if course if he could get free time to discuss about it. Because mental problems are more serious than a bunch of techniques you can or can't handle. 🙏
Also sounds like "talks" about developing MB style plugins (~1h55) have included not just one for vocals but one for ABCD... which I could see being WAY more complicated.
"I don't know what the hell is PluginDoctor." - Fernando! Not criticizing it but explaining that he's more techy than Michael but probably less technical than most everyone else!
i don't know either what is plugin doctor, that makes me less technical? Can you stand that all the technical knowledge lies on one single plugin or process?
Just the dirrence in acosuticas and audio systems in stereo are so braod and we are talking only about L-R.... the differences between dolby atmos setups make all this way more irregular in reproduction....Stereo will contunue being king as Bob Clearmountain said ..as well as he said he would not be surprised that eventually Dolby atmos will go away... for now is kind of trendy...
When bouncing stems. Do you only set the side chain key to that mix print and leave the rest down the line master buss follow the buss compressor the same?
Is it possible to put a link here for us to download and have access to the MB Black Box presets? I bought the plug-in but there are no MB presets in it.
Fatso it's a very unique plugin, but you can use any kind of multiple saturator plugin like Soundtoys Decapitator, FabFilter Saturn, perhaps the iZotope Trash or the Ohmicide but very carefully.
UAD uses a licensed version, i think from Softube. Softube has their own version that works native, which they design in partnership with Empirical Labs. I think it is called the Mike-E Compressor.
Three dimemsional music can be simutated with a basic 2-speaker stereo system or a set of headphones. It's all about phase. My first computer (Dell 1997) had software that simulated this phenomenon. Sounded like a fly buzzing around my head. All the 3-D stuff has been available to us for decades. Atmos is a marketing gimmick. "There's a sucker born every minute." --- PT Barnum. No disrespect meant, just my opinion.😊
Anyone tested the template on latest Pro Tools Studio? I'm having an issue with the B buss. Waves NLS plugin seems to have a phase issue, so if I send the Drums to B + E it loses low end...
Waves NLS Mike has some phase weirdness in the low end, checked with plugin doctor...I'm sure it's normal plugin behavior but the fact that it's the one used for bus B kinda breaks the engine...
2:16:09 / 2:58:54 you can see 8 vca... why is it? like for A-E i can see 1-5 and number 8 controls all of them but how about numbers 6-7 what for they are?
I think "VCA 8" comes from workflow on an SSL Console. I'm fairly sure the VCAs are setup something like this: 1 - Audio Trim VCA (trims all audio files coming into session, before any compression), 2 - Samples VCA, 3 - Lead Vocal VCA, 4- BGV, 5- 7 Guitar, bass drum etc, VCA 8 - Master. There's more than like more than 8 VCAs actually being used
@@Heke97 Exactly. The whole thing is pushing the levels into the pre-calibrated compressors so the VCAs help that workflow. I know there’s the Audio Trim VCA, that one will be assigned to the lowest level folders (where you drop the tracks) to adjust overall initial volume. Then the rest control the 2nd level for their respective labels (eg. Bass VCA controlling Bass Body and Bass Neck folders).
Putting a copyright sign next to Brauerizing is just plain ridiculous. I was using parallel compression long before Andrew Scheps, maybe I should have copyrighted it? He's just using compressors in parallel for goodness sake!
I'm wondering...if Fernando a human? 😅😅😅😅😅 he's ZERO expressions at all! even being peruvian (a latin guy) has no expression! (and this is me jealousy speaking about his place of privilege next to my hero Michael Brauer 😂😂 cheers man!)

What a brilliant interview!! Thank you so much.
It would be great if PM could add time stamps and a list of the questions that were asked. Thx
Thanks so much for this. ❤
We need an ITB plugin version of Fernando.
Does Fernando come as a waves plug-in too? 😅
Great series. Would love to know if they ever got the Xtressor to work for them, or if they just stuck with the UAD version.
When using you big TV as a monitor like that you have to make sure the TV is in game mode
i've been at this for 4 years i'm close now, really close.
I really like the dad-vibes from Michael

Hello Team Puremix, Can you tell me how many dB of compression does Michael have with the germanium compressor on stereo bus ?
10db :) its a lot! But he swears by it
@@ostrol1590damn, that is a lot

Tom Lord Alge next plz!
I have a question, are the A,B,C,D tracks routed to group tracks or through the send? Thanks

Xtressor: actually MB or his team will want to contact Kiive Audio (not PA) since Kiive is the creator of Xtressor
What’s the video about the calibration?
what can i use instead of fatso? i don't have uad

There was no such thing in pro audio to use..period!! And that cheap ass computer you had in 97 was nowhere near being considered a powerful workhorse

No delay compensation in your DAW? Well, get Cubase, it's built in, yummy...No delay ever working with faders
