My first dovetail took a day and a half. You'll most likely halve the time it takes with every attempt. Now im down to roughly 45 minutes
@@autodidacticartisan Four more attempts and you'll beat Matt!!!
Such a good video I love the way it flows
Keep it up Matt
What a fun video, thanks MATT!
yassss we need more real life speedrunning!
so happy the one time i cought your stream was for this attempt! amazing job!
Nice timing! 😂
This was an amazing video to watch!
I really enjoyed the video, thanks. Well done on knocking that out so well, you probably cut more dovetails in this video than i have so far in my life, here's to the joys of starting off!! A real encouragement. Could you add that lovely little sliding square to your gear list? It looked a really nice size when you were working
Thanks for the reminder! I definitely will do that. It’s from Lee Valley Tools if you’re interested. Got it a few years back.
@@MattEstlea Lovely, thanks a million. I now know what to do first with my next paycheck!! :D
What if you didn't drop the chisel each time? Use you two pinky's to flip over the piece of wood, or even the chisel and 1 finger, you can probably flip it over without having to drop any of your tools. might save some time in the long run!... Really cool video, I always loved optimizing tasks where I worked. Nicely done!
Two things: Were you using metric time?
And, Rob didn’t look at all stressed. But my hat is off, and I love the challenge. My money is on Frank Krause for the win! 👍🏼
I think that Frank has already done some timed, head to head challenges before. Anyone know the clock on those?
Frank has definitely done them but if I recall correctly, his weren’t at all “cabinet grade”
He didn’t look as stressed or have to use any specialty jigs simply design for speed and an exact dimension of work piece. His were cut much more how one might cut them if they were just making dovetails for a project. Props to Matt, he will definitely benefit from all the practice he put into this; but Rob is obviously the pro...
@@leehaelters6182 I am not sure but I saw several where Frank was extremely fast.
@@andrewpinson1268, yes, I remember a video where he outpaced his competitor by so much, that just to rub it in he put his hands into his pockets while the feller was still struggling.
