Thanks for posting the info and the songs. These guys were my FIRST concert touring on this album (Rush opened for them). Still got the ticket stub; $5.50 and free parking. Yep, I'm THAT old.
With Rush...cool. I saw these guys when they opened for the Doobie Brothers at ASU at an outdoor football field. It was hot, and most of the chicks had their shirts off, sitting on somebody's shoulder, doing their thing. That was a good concert too. Wish I can go back, just for a few tokes and a couple of tunes.
wow the two greatest power trios of all time on one ticket for $5.50... that's amazing. the only thing that could one up this story would be someone from the '60s saying they say the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream on the same bill for $2.50... but I doubt that ever happened lol, I bet it was a sick show though eh?!
I was sitting in a hooch in SEA and a friend opened the album and played it - 72 or 73. When this song came on - nice transition - the whole platoon jumped up and started dancing around.
Saw them at a place called the Horizon just outside of Chicago. After the Black Crows finished their set I was taken up to the Front Row a few feet from the stage. How lucky can one man be.
best in the 70 petter andersson 67 years young riding a big harley waiting fore summer i am swede jusr love the swiths betven the songs just love it ,m
The vinyl version is how this song is suppose to sound. The song was recorded/mixed more dry. None of that wet reverb poop. This dry tone captures the feel of the blues best.
i neither buy nor listen to cd's anymore, i used to collect both. but nowadays you can find newer bands these days releasing their music on vinyl too. vinyl has made a comeback. and that's righteous, i love it.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've been trying to find the original version for YEARS with everyone telling me I'm crazy for thinking there were different mixes. Now I can prove I'm not crazy lol!
Blistering R and B/rock-n-roll! These blokes are as great now as ever, by the way. I saw them a couple years ago, wow! Still rockin' like the old days. This is the best 1-2 cut on any record I know. If you don't like it, listen to something else then.
Have mercy, been waitin' for the bus all day. Have mercy, been waitin' for the bus all day. I got my brown paper bag and my take-home pay. Have mercy, old bus be packed up tight. Have mercy, old bus be packed up tight. Well, I'm glad just to get on and home tonight. Right on, that bus done got me back. Right on, that bus done got me back. Well, I'll be ridin' on the bus till I Cadillac
Had the best sound my first concert warehouse New Orleans 1976 fandango live opening song get high everybody high 15 and grounded for life it was worth it ZZ top that is lol
You know how some nights you're too stoned to leave a comment, well this is one of those nights. I was looking at this album cover, and started wondering how many pounds of grass I cleaned on mine, which led to " how many pounds of grass were handled on that album cover". I told you I was too stoned to leave a comment.
You cannot play one of these and not the other even though they are 2 separate tracks!! Even the classic rock station usually plays them as one and that's good because they never sound right when played just one or the other
A lot heavier on the bass and bass drum...sounds great and argument could go both ways...no worse than the remix of "La Grange"...and I missed an Eagles 'On The Border' tour concert in Charlotte in June 1976 due to my having strep throat. Fleetwood Mac was the opener; the tickets were $6.50. My friend sold my ticket for $8! And skydog thinks HE'S old!!!!
Strangely enough i prefer this mix as well (talking about the changed drum sound). I think it has to do with what i heard first, back in 2007 i bought Tres Hombres on Cd and it happened to be the 1980's Original Warner Bros Non Remaster. I can understand the ZZ Top Purists not digging it. For me i heard it first and the Drums just seem to have more punch. Now for the really fucked part i really don't like 80's Production it's Cold, Sterile and too Electronic. So i should actually prefer the original mix.
I agree, the vinyl version is far better, I first heard zz top on Tejaz compile, (I thought it was an album that times) , then I bought me Eliminator, a bit disappointed about the prog drumming , synths and all this shit they used since 1982, no more the same group! ok there's still sharp dressed man, legs, if I could only flag her down, but nothing reaching the level of Tush, La grange, Just Got paid, jesus just left chicago, heard it on the X(that's a drummer, that's a rythm guitar!). When we look what they're doing on stage nowadays, Frank Beard has become a ghost, with a 10000$ drums, much useless gadgets than a instrument, nothing to do with the guenine music they're supposed to play...
RIP Dusty Hill. Thanks for the awesome music! Keep rocking in heaven brother! 😊

Somewhere back there, I saw them in concert playing this tune - with chickens and pigs roaming around the stage, like a fuckin barnyard. Lol!
Best opening to an album of all time.

Is sounds a little bit slow from what I remember.....
Radio stations played the songs slightly faster than normal, got more songs in an hour that way.
And it's an offence to play any of the songs individually or out of order😉
