I love this game . My wife and I play it all the time. By the way the WHITE arrow on the cards does not mean "if you DISCARD this get that " but "if you HAVE this get that". The Red arrow is the one meaning discarding. Zee missed this part of the rule.
Zee made a mistake explaining bazaar cards actions...in those ones with a white arrow you're not supposed to discard any resource! you just need to have them. discarding is only required in the ones showing a red arrow!
As German it was a surprise that this didnt make it to the "Spiel des Jahres 2018" List. Havent played the original, but this one is a very good family weight game for sure.
Woohoo! I'm really excited for this game. I love the original very much and I am happy to try this version too. I would own both versions and be happy. Thanks Zee! ^_^
How does it play with two? I envy those that can play with multiple opponents on a regular occasion but as a single dad of two I rarely get to play with more than a single person at a time.
I've played it with 2 a few times, and it's perfectly fine, the game is a bit 'multiplayer solitaire' anyway. One side of the board is for 2-3 players specifically (seen in the video).
nahailyenvanakkor Thank you for the reply. I knew it could be played with 2 but not every game that plays with 2 are great with 2. I picked it up for $18 but I have yet to get it to the table.
I'm just being random, but it's all in love for the Dice Tower. When it comes to the grading system, I don't know how it goes, but whatever it doesn't matter; how about 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5 is the Seal of Approval, 9.0 and 9.5 is the Seal of Excellence, but a 10 is called....THE ZEE~~~!! Of course the other guys can call it The Tom or The Sam ;)
Sometimes you need to separate what one likes with the strengths of a game by itself. I only play heavy euros but I can see why this game night be appealing to others, and I'd probably this over the base game.
Another wonderfully articulate and thorough review from Zee. Well done!
Got it in the mail today! I really like Istanbul, but couldn't get my students to play it. This will be easy to teach and play. Thanks Zee

Great review, Zee. It looks very nice.

I'm glad you liked the game as much as me. I haven't played the original game, but this version is really fun and satisfying.

Istanbul has developed into a family favorite with the expansions. This one doesn't seem as inspired as OctoDice or Castles of Burgundy Dice.

They put the number on the website. This one got an 8.5. www.dicetower.com/game-video/istanbul-dice-game-review-zee-garcia
I thought this was too simplistic, too straightforward and too bland. Interesting to see you have a different experience.

My wife and I love this game.
I live in istanbul. This is awkward.
Just call the city Constantinople again. :)
Do you mean you live in Istanbul? 😉
Eric Finely in Turkey we call it İstanbul.
