In NSMB DS (the first game to use big star coins) the name of the Star Coins in the game files is “dragon_coin”, maybe it was intended to be a Yoshi Dragon Coin from SMW
If they ever add this, I hope that you could see which coins each player managed to find when looking at people who played your levels.

I think it would benefit more in competitive mario maker. You can try to get them for points. Maybe coins should count as points too.
This is AMAZING but it needs more:
1. Fighter Fly (Enemies)
2. 100 Coin (Items)
3. Flama Mechakoopa (Enemies)
4. Sumo Bro (Mini-boss, takes 2 hits or 6 fireballs to defeat.)
5. Koopa Car (Enemy, one from 3d world in all styles. Not the clown car.)
6. King Bill (Enemy, if the player jumps on one, they will bounce away. Unless with the big and mega mushroom, instantly destroys the king bill.)
7. Flashing Shell (Enemies)
8. Floating Mine (Gizmos)
9. Vegetable (Items)
10. Boss Door (Gizmos)

@@alisiaale565 Yeah, that's because its part of one of the frames of the spin coin animation, it looking in sideways. 😅

Honestly I would actually like to see that as an update
If they add this, you should be able to make certain stages available to unlock with star coins in super worlds
I feel like star coins, if added, could unlock rewards when you get them, maybe starting with getting costumes, to new course parts, and even new characters.

Advance Coins - Super Mario Bros. 3
Dragon Coins - Super Mario World
Star Coins - New Super Mario Bros. (DS, WII, 3DS & WII U)
Star Medals - Super Mario 3D Land
Green Stars - Super Mario 3D World
Smiley Flowers Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

I also hope we get an option to remove the timer so we can make more explorable levels.
If Nintendo implemented start coins to SMM3, it should be used to unlock branching paths, secrets, or mushroom houses.

Hi Smashy, imagine Mario had a dice power up that everytime you jump, a dice flies does different things when it/they land.
That would be great, you could make a dnd themed level if it activated P, Pow, On off blocks, destroys bricks, n.stuff depending on the roll, or rng stuff
After you collect the star coins would usallaly unlock world 9.

In my SLW series, I have a 10, 30 and 50 coins to represent the star coins.

Hidden Super World Paths would be great! But Nintendo would need to add secret exits to the game first... and maybe a third subworld.

Star Coins was a thing since NSMB for the DS, and i think Nintendo should implemented these in SMM3. ☺️
