Might be my favorite channel to check into. Feel like such a noob, and it’s the only band I’m gravitated to ever since I saw my first show at 10/26/18. Seen them 9 times since. Missed so much but listen to show after show being on the road all day. Thanks for giving the great jams and showing this band the appreciation they deserve
Good review dude. I was there. Was front & center on the lawn. Another thing people don’t consider, although they should considering it was a show opener, is that this was done in broad daylight, sun was still way up and we all felt the bliss of the jam without a real lightshow. Good that you reminded us all that this was in Missouri!
One of the greatest jams that i have ever heard Phish do live and I've been to nearly 80 shows since 95'. Some people are partial to the Murat and Went Gins, but this one takes the cake in my opinion.
They start the funk at 13:03 and they don't abandon it until 22:40. It's lightning speed funk that starts around 20:30 and it lasts for 4 minutes. The 6:00 -13:00 minute mark is also incredible. I don't know how to describe it. Bliss, I guess.
i was at that show kinda bummed they don't play riverport anymore for some reason they play inside in the summer; kinda odd they are at amphitheaters for i think all of summer but in stl they are inside. nice reviews Kevin. keep it up!
Oh yea. I remember getting em on lot out of a rubbermaid container from some grimey fingered wookette. Burned into my mind, gunk under her nails like she was diggin in a dirt pile. I took that gooball with no objection though.
The Riverport Gin is pretty solid! I prefer the first half of the jam ( kind of a slow Hose Jam) slow solid floating notes continuously building upwards! I actually like the Boise Bag better! You said you doing that jam next! 97 Ghost/Taste Alpine Valley is a great combo to check out! Happy 4th! Lakewood July 3rd and 4th 99 Ghost and Slave and my favorite FEFY are also great! Have a good Holiday! 🤙😎
My triumphant return to Riverport after spending the 97 show in the back of a police van, tripping balls. Still got to hear the entire show though! Hahaha So yeah this show was special for me
@@FZappa20 I won’t go into too many details, but I will say it was not for a violent act, just simple possession. And when I got to the next show, my boss told me the band had known about me running from the cops, and that Antelope was played for me. That’s why it was so special when I actually made it inside the next year hahahaha
Interesting analysis. I was there and I remember the rest of the show was just ok. I think everyone was so blown away that the rest was a little anticlimactic. As far as Riverport goes, I don't think Phish was ever that crazy about the place. It's not as homey as Deer Creek or Alpine; kind of sterile. Also, security could be described as mostly uptight. Prob a little less now that cannabis is legal in Missouri. Chaifetz is in the City and VERY chill.
