These hearings are mostly a waste of time, the witnesses rarely answer the questions directly.

If a person decides to attend college or a university, they need to learn how to pay for it out of their own pocket. If they are unable to do so, they have options. Further more, there should be a competent, qualified person or organization which should teach these persons how to manage their finances and how to pay their own debts.
An idiotic presumption built on youthful ignorance. Time to do the hard work of becoming better minded, and most of that is about education which should be there for everyone, as it is in more mature societies like Germany, Japan, or any of the Scandinavian countries.
There is a competent, qualified organization which teaches people how to manage their finances and pay their own debts. It's called "school". And it costs money. Which, as these people you are referring to are usually around 18 years old, they have no money.
That's the issue. The 18 year old children taking on all this debt are doing so because they've been told this is how you make it in life. The ones who don't need to take on student loans typically come from wealthy families. Basically this is setting up a system where the children of wealthy parents continue to thrive and get advantages that children of poor parents don't get. And when they take out loans to attempt to live the American dream they get hammered with 20 - 30 years of debt that they can't get out from under.
If an 18 year old takes out a small business load of $50000 and the business fails they claim bankruptcy and get on with their lives. But if they take out a $50000 student loan they are stuck with that payment for the next 20 years. They can't discharge it through bankruptcy. And they don't realize how difficult things are going to be for them in the future. Because they're 18 years old.

I think that every committee member's time for questioning the witnesses should be automatically extended by the time it takes for the witness to say "I'd like to thank you for the question and" multiplied by the number of times they say it. It is obviously a time consuming tactic that shouldn't eat into the questioner's already short allotted period for inquiry.
If I had wanted to pay for her room and board while my daughter went to school away from home (I paid for books and tuition and I live in the largest city in my state, so plenty of good education to be had right here while she lived at home), I would have paid for it then. She took out a loan to pay for housing and still hasn't paid it back. I don't want to pay for it, as a taxpayer, now, anymore than I did then and I certainly don't want my neighbors to have to pay for it.

Yes, truck drivers, grocery store workers, clerks, and janitors should pay higher prices so that their bosses can have their student loan debt forgiven. It's super hard for a single person to get by on a measly $120,000 per year, or a downtrodden married couple to get by on a lousy quarter of a million a year.
NO TAXPAYER MONEY should be handed over to non-citizens, or to payoff debts of any students.

This means kids going to school yesterday, today, tomorrow...NO TEACHER in their room. Remember, kids are not left unsupervised- so they frequently are 'pushed in' to a similar staffed classroom, which overloads and radically degrades that class as well.
Few know SCSD only fills 50-75% of teacher absences with substitutes. About a hundred daily absences means THOUSANDS of Syracuse students have no teacher.
Separate Director-level pay to: Recruitment Retention and Selection, Staff Relations, Employee Services, Effectiveness, Recruitment (not a repeat typo). HUNDREDS of teachers short, what performance metric justifies employment of unproductive directors INSTEAD of teachers?

No. I was just notified that I would not be INTERVIEWED, nor considered for any of many positions. I am a physics teacher with green energy and new technology development experience. My undergrad is superior to most teachers, and I was the only physics content in my entire MS Ed cohort - in which at least one Professor proclaimed me the top student.
I've over ten years experience in suburban, rural, and yes, failing urban schools.
I've received complements from students such that I’ll stoically claim my critics fools to specifically question my classroom instruction.
I've won a North American Championship in my sport, coach, a Thespian, and have many other contributions to make in Patent/IP, motivation, entertainment, etc.
It's one or the other. Ask yourself-
Is it more likely an adult professional educator accepts an assignment in Syracuse, unprepared mentally, freaks out, misbehaves, can't handle kids, maltreats them and needs to be fired ‘for performance’, or
is it more likely that DEI hiring policies deemphasize merit, and administrative hires too incompetent to have attendance sheets or room keys (as in my specific case) unethically fire white teachers that witness violence from children taking advantage of chaos AND implicit knowledge they won't be disciplined?
Is corruption in schools so profound that administrators, akin to the Catholic Church, retain their unworthy, shuffle their worst around in devotion to social justice equity, unethically firing innocent (but inherently white privileged) teachers that ‘more easily can find work than marginalized people of color’ anyway?...and it only becomes EVIDENT when those deluded ‘justiceX’ policies result in MASSIVE teacher vacancies?
ps Remember, Public School employees seek to abolish private, charter, voucher, and parochial schools to mandate your children attend their schools…without teachers.

You take out a loan (a contract) you, not others, have the responsibility to repay the loan. If you’re too stupid to know what you’re agreeing to, college might not be for you, and where were your parents when you were taking out the loan.

The solution to the student loan crisis and our economic challenges is simple! Charitable and government equities using people and infrastructure development as the basis for convertible government and charitable debt. This way, the goal of economics to create equilibrium between opposing forces can be accomplished. Otherwise, there is no solution that will work.
