Being self sufficient is always better than having to rely on some one else for help and being able to help somebody else is always a plus even when some don’t really appreciate it.

Agree with that! Didn’t like the fewer situations we got into, knew we could’ve gotten out with our tools and didn’t have them. Being able to help is a nice feeling too :) all of this is also because we mostly go out alone and cannot rely on a possible/‘maybe someone will pass by’ help

We spent 3 months this summer traveling through remote areas of Canada's north, and, like you, we wanted to be as autonomous as possible. We didn't want to find ourselves in a bad situation just hoping that someone better-prepared than us would come along. We'd much rather be the better-prepared people who are helping others.
Like you, we also chose to double our fuel capacity, carry 100L of water, and have a large fridge. The reasons were 1) increased autonomy should something bad leave us stranded for longer than expected and 2) It allowed us to spend more time traveling and less time stopping for fuel, food and water -- those things all take time and effort away from doing the fun things we'd prefer to be doing!
There is no right or wrong way - everybody has to adventure their own way. The main thing is that we're all getting out there, exploring the world, and supporting each other while we do it.

💯% how we enjoy our adventures and why our setup is built this way. As you say there’s no right or wrong. Just like you we don’t want to find ourselves hoping someone better prepared will pass by.

Everyone has different needs for the lifestyle they choose just listen calmly to their comments ,you will never change their views.
Enjoy the lifestyle you choose and reflect on the time you spent with your family.

Absolutely! Because of what we enjoy and how we enjoy it we do spend much fun family times together. Might not ‘ve been the same if we kept if rough at all times with an unreliable useless setup like when we started in 2009 😆

Good talk. best to have most tools and equipment than to feel sorry. Got stuck several times and alone, shitty situations. Camper setup is personal but agree with the fact that the car is there to handle all the stuff and if you want to have a build like you have it's cool because we see what's possible even though we might never have something similar.

Thanks! and yes it’s not because we have this setup and enjoy the way we do that everyone should do the same. But let’s be honest, having tools and some spares is quite necessary when travelling that way or going out on weekends 👍🏼

We travel the same way , if you ever get a chance, your set up will be great for travel in northern Canada, and the Arctic

Its Land Rover Life do your way, there are aways people making negative comments, unfortunately a lot are keyboard warriors. I like to be self sufficient like yourselves and help others where I can. One Life Live It don't comment

Agree with that! We all personally have our way of doing and none of them are wrong (unless you often get in trouble because of your way of doing 😁). We know why and how we enjoy our adventures and wish it can help or simply be enjoyable to watch ;)

ANYONE CAN ROUGH IT 👍🏻 But why should you if you don’t enjoy it Do what YOU want/enjoy You don’t have to justify to anyone else you are a family you have others to look after to be responsible for The keyboard experts probably don’t or don’t care like you do ??
    BeSafe and Enjoy 👍🏻🇬🇧⬛️

That’s quite impolite! I might say even more when it comes from someone who asks for help on social media when garage cannot find failure and that we take time to answer and are happy to help.
