I'm glad you played Breaking Benjamin, since that's my style and could hear what it sounded like.I was wondering if you'd consider doing a short video for us all, on clean tone and then maybe another cover if your up to it.. funny, this is reminiscent of Ben's signature PRS guitar that he used to play. Unfortunately he no longer seems to play PRS anymore (at least recently), and seems to be opting for a Gibson LP baritone and LTD EC guitars.

    • @RainAJF

      +Timmaai They really do! Strings are 14-68. I'm pretty sure it ships with 14-68 aswell, tuned B to B.

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  7 лет назад +1

      It sounds so good right!
      It is until the ESP LTD Ben Burnley signature gets its UK release and I'll be switching to that for a main, mainly because of the seymour duncans and the added piezo! This will be a really great back-up baritone.
      Thanks for watching dude!

    Sounds great! I have been thinking about getting one of these as well. Do you think the p90 pickups can handle this heavier music well?

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад

      +dmb83 I do! I was torn between this and the solid body that is coming out sometime soon for the humbuckers but I'm pretty confident I made the right choice. Of course the drop tuning helps but I guess its down to personal preference! Sounds great though!

    Sounds good! What amp are you using.?

  • @bensekerak6014
    @bensekerak6014 8 лет назад +1

    Hey man, great cover! I've been doing some research on this guitar, and it seems like soapbar pickups aren't the greatest for 'metal' but it appears as they're wrong. How do you like the pickups and the fact that its semi-hollow? Would you recommend this guitar for Drop A and B tunings? Thanks in advance if you answer :D

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад

      +Ben Sekerak Honestly I bought this guitar with the intention of swapping the Soapbars out. I play through a BlackStar Stage 60 which can be a really aggressive sounding amp if you make it and together it sounds great!
      I would heavily recommend this guitar for drop tunings! As it is a baritone, it comes in the box in its standard tuning of B - B, drop the low string and your in Drop A and it holds perfectly. Heavier gauge strings and the longer neck make it feel and play great, its super light and lets face it it looks damn good! Hope this helps bro!

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад +1

      Oh man even just in a standard B - B on my BlackStar's clean channel, it sounds great, even more so than I was hoping for sure! I'm even considering getting an acoustic pedal so I don't have to fork out for a baritone acoustic!

  • @BC_J0MBI
    @BC_J0MBI 8 лет назад +1

    Awesome job! I'm thinking about buying this guitar but have 1 question. do the soapbars hold up good for breaking Benjamin tones naturally? or did you have to eq the hell out of it to get a good tone?

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад +2

      +Bobby Cook I have found it is pretty natural for me at least to get the tone I have here. The only pedals I use are simple effects so all eq & distortion is direct from my BlackStar amp. I tend to take the mids down and raise the bass & treble a lot of the time, with my other PRS as well that I keep in C - C# tunings!

    • @BC_J0MBI
      @BC_J0MBI 8 лет назад

      +AJFV thank you very much for a truthful answer. I usually do the same to my amp eq, I was just making sure you didn't use a post eq to get a closer breaking Benjamin tone. I've been searching for this tone for awhile now and when I heard this I was like wow! so I'm sold lol

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад +1

      No problem! Also, the camera doesn't do the audio any justice. The feel & playability of this guitar is just brilliant. The range of tone you can get with the soapbars is very surprising! Not to mention it is very pretty to look at!

  • @trysth
    @trysth 8 лет назад +1

    Cool guitar man! Can you tell me please how this neck compares to the one in the Mike Mushok singnature model?

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад

      +Asen Santev I never owned a Mike Mushok baritone sorry mate. But I do know they are both 27.7 scale length, hence the name. They also both had 22 frets so I'm assuming they would be pretty similar. This SE has eagle inlays though =D.

    • @trysth
      @trysth 8 лет назад +1

      +AJFV I hope they're not so similar, because I didn't like the neck of the Mike Mushok sig. It was a bit thick for me. I read somewhere, that the SE 277 neck was thinner and was looking for another opinion. Either ways, your baritone is great!

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад

      +Asen Santev that might be the case then! I would recommend playing one in the shop before you never know!

  • @jordanroberts1519
    @jordanroberts1519 8 лет назад +1

    Can I ask why'd you go with the soapbar pickups rather than the humbucking ones?

    • @RainAJF
      @RainAJF  8 лет назад +1

      +Jordan Roberts Originally I was going to get the solid version for the humbuckers but I much prefer the look of the semi hollow. The idea was to swap out the pickups to humbuckers so I could have the hollow body with the humbuckers from the solid. I gave the soapbars a chance and with my BlackStars settings I was able to get a really nice sound out of them! Eveentually I might swap them out but for now I am really enjoying them =)

    Nice cover man. I'm thinking about getting one of these guitars, but I've never had a semi-hollow. What is the semi-Hollow for, like what are the benefits of having that? Does it allow you to play it unplugged? Thanks.

    • @tardsmile6375
      @tardsmile6375 7 лет назад

      Eric Briggs just gives it a different flavor of sound when plugged in. Id personally say it adds a hint of sustain. As well as making it lighter in weight.
      however, it's not meant to be used as an alternative to an acoustic, no.

    How noisy are those pickups on a high-gain sound?
    I love the looks of the guitar, but I'm worried it will be to noisy to record with effortlessly. I had the same problem with my current guitar, p90s were great, but there was just way to much noise.

      I bought this guitar because its a quality built, cheap baritone that wasn't a random signature model. I've always wanted a PRS baritone since Phobia!
