I love how Wilbur's line about his father looking like Tom Selleck was supposed to be a placeholder until the writers came up with something better, but then they ACTUALLY got Tom Selleck to voice Cornelius!
The joke is changed in non English versions to whatever celebrity is voicing him. Also, wow the bots are out in force.

Dear Cinema Sins: I got my pencil to look the way it does at 1:05. The important key part you neglected was that he was wearing glasses. When the pencil is lodged expertly in tandem with the glasses it can be balanced in an upward angle. Also, how many pencils have you had that shattered upon hitting the ground? Did you grow up with glass pencils?

Being adopted, I appreciated this movie a lot. despite its flaws. It makes me cry every time. I feel like it wouldn’t have had such an impact on me if I hadn’t been adopted.

For the franchise compilation videos, CinemaSins needs to do the “Die Hard” movies, the “Transformers” franchise, the “Twilight” movies, the “Divergent” trilogy, the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and (possibly) the “X-Men” franchise.
The movie does actually explain very well why goobs eyes have bags underneath, it’s his key motivation towards becoming the villain lmao. He was kept up by Lewis’ projects which caused him to drop the ball. Love your vids my guy but cmon you can’t sin something for “not being explained well enough” when it is a central part of the plot 😂

I like that this movie is basically the opposite of Back to the Future. Instead of the protagonist visiting his parents in the past, we get the protagonist being visited by his son from the future

It's both hilarious and a little sad since it also shows how warped he was. But it's still one of the best lines in the film.

It's actually a really interesting way to look at depression. Since with depression, you just have a tunnel vision on things, only seeing all the negative aspects in life, feeling as if everybody hates you even if most of the time, that isn't really the case. It's really quite sad if you think about it.

I just noticed that as well and was coming down to the comments to see if anyone else had to. It's an interesting point that she acts like a mom before we actually know who she is.

"Where. In. The. F*ck. Did. You. Get. That. Hat. From?" That part alone made me almost choke laughing, and I had to watch it three times to get through it without pausing to laugh again. Those kind of lines always get me. >W

Yes!!!
I will always love this simple, yet effective movie. I was 25 when it came out, but it still hit home, especially the end and the message. The creative team clearly put a lot of passion and work into it. Even though it has issues, the entertainment value, comedy, and warmth are enough to make me not even notice. I always shed a tear at the end, not only because it's such a rewarding and heartfelt ending, but Walt's quote of "keep moving forward" tugs at me, as someone who has heaps of self-esteem issues.
I know people like to throw around the word "underrated" a lot, even if something isn't. I know this movie isn't because I remember the buzz around it when it was released. A lot of people loved it. So it's definitely not underrated. I will say that it certainly falls under the radar a lot in comparison to Disney classics and whatever is hot at the moment.
And remember, kids, generations always make a comeback. Like how right now there's an 80s and 90s trend going on with kids these days. Even though I don't really get it, seeing as I grew up in those decades, it just shows that everything cycles. So your kids will get super into what you were into as a kid. :) Nothing is ever really forgotten.
I am filling a complaint for not having taken a sin off when he accidentally called Franie "Mom". That moment took my heart and tore it to a thousand pieces in one second.
The film absolutely does an amazing job explaining why Goob has circles under his eyes. It's literally his entire motivation!
Ok, not just me then. He was sinning that and I was sitting here like, "I'm pretty sure they explicitly point out that he never gets any sleep because of his crazy roommate..."

They actually do mention Goob's dark eyes, when the caretaker sees Goob she always asks if Lewis kept him up all night.
A star walks into a black hole but doesn't seen phased. The black hole then turns to the star and says, "I don't think you understand the gravity of this situation."
"We champion mistakes we make with inventions, but not mistakes we make [with] people" is just -- wow. I love this movie and have seen it so many times and that was DEEP.
Mike still being in the orphanage even years after it closed down was always the most confusing thing to me
Like, yeah it's a movie about time travel and all but they _left a young, defenseless child in an orphanage when it closed._

I always guessed he was forcefully taken to the new orphanage or whatever place they were moved to then he ran away back to the old orphanage and hid if anyone came back
My guess is that since he wasn’t adopted due to his anger, the orphanage was his only home to go to.
I got the impression that after all the kids moved out, he went back and holed himself up there. What gets me is that no one ever thought to see why this abandoned building was still running up an electric bill.

The part that hit me the hardest (that’s right, I wept) was the end where future goob was chilling behind the bush and looking at the check box with a question mark on his to do list. I just felt soooo bad. Even though Luis accepted him, goob’s self esteem just would allow him to stay. 🥺🥺🥺
@@sk82rok I mean, he did try and ruin Lewis future , and his only friend he thought he had was Doris, who was only using him for its own means. Just imagine the shame and sadness he must have felt, realizing his plan was pointless, and the one entity who he truly believed was his friend, was all a lie.

A heartwarming movie , it's very recommendable especially for parents and children, it has a beautiful message, not like some silly movies like Emoji, angry birds or boss baby
the boss baby is actually pretty good. i watched to the sequel, and I say it's really heart-warming. it's perfect for people with siblings because the message is to spend time with your loved ones before it's too late. emoji is just hot cr*p.

This movie referenced Super Mario Odyysey more than 10 years before Super Mario Odyysey released (with a hat that's able to control things that it's put on, and it being used on a dinosaur)
Honestly, I think this is the only time travel movie where I've never questioned the time travel mechanics. Every other one, I'm like "OK but how?". With this one, I just watched and loved.

It's because they didn't try and make any "laws" they just did time travel. So I feel that's what gave them success

Literally my favorite line of the movie. I have quoted it for YEARS
100 sins for lewis being able to meet himself without destroying the universe and the fact that him seeing his own future which seemingly has a high impact on the world/universe is enough to potentially alter his actions that created that future and destroy the timeline by itself
Meet The Robinsons is so insanely underrated it makes me upset.
It's a shame we well never know what happened to Goob in the future. And, it was him missing the baseball because he didn't get any sleep that caused the bullying and was what Micheal complained about to the people who didn't adopt him, so making sure they win definitely fixes everything for him according to this movie. Also you can blame Bud & Lucille not remembering what Lewis looked liked as a kid. They are old plus Bud head is literally backwards and he wears glasses now which he probably didn't need until a few years before the movie takes place in the future. Lewis future wife Fran however went to his school! Even if it was just elementary they definitely talked about how they met at some point and their should be enough pictures of Lewis taken either by them or his adopted parents that should jog her memory enough where she shouldn't be shocked Lewis is her future husband from when they were kids.
The issue is Goob couldn’t let it go. He was beat up yes, but there were still people who wanted to be friends with him, he was too angry to notice.

I feel like Bud could have had dementia or some other sort of mental disorder that prevented him from recognizing Louis. I'm autistic and I can barely recognize people's faces if I haven't seen them for more than a day at minimum.
Lucille’s brain was probably fried by her constantly being on caffeine
One of the most underrated Disney films and it's unfortunate that Disney doesn't talk about it as much when compared to the other CG films released after this film. Even it's crazy that starting next year would be the 15th anniversary for the movie.
Now we need an Everything Wrong with Encanto.
Got to wait a few months for that Encanto vid since Cinemasins don't usually make vids for newly released films immediately.

@@amethia4121 To be fair some fairly recent films get an Everything's Wrong video either 2-3 months or 4 months later after they come out in theaters, so I expect February or March for Encanto.

I remember watching this movie in theaters and thinking that it was gonna be Disneys next “big thing”. Definitely one of the most slept on Disney movies of all time
It fell victim to the same disease as The Wizard of Oz and The Princess Bride. The marketing department didn't know what to do with it. Heck, I remember watching a commercial for it that pitted Lewis and Bowler Hat Guy (Goob) against each other as invention rivals!

@@k-leb4671 Not when it was first released. It was considered a flop after its release because of how poorly it initially performed in theaters. Thankfully, the few who did give it a chance, along with a few critics, spread the word about how new and unique it was (at the time) and how anyone could enjoy it. Only then was there a demand to see it and it re-released in theaters to much success!

@@MsDudette21 well yeah because Wilbur was trying to come up with the least Cornelius/Lewis looking person possible and Tom Selleck was the first person that popped into his head
16:50 what I never got about this part is how after Lewis runs off, the family start hating on Will and don’t even ATTEMPT to find out what happened in detail and go after the literal child version of their most famous family member. Like, you’d think with how serious of a situation this is, the last thing they’d do is walk off and not try to get the kid back in his original timeline again. Even if they walk off for selfish purposes, all of them are being put in danger by letting the kid roam around freely since they themselves could be effected by something in his mind changing suddenly while in the future.
This doesn’t even mention how Louis’ OWN parents just walk away from their heartbroken kid son. Rejecting your own kid in adoption must be damn hard after already going through the process years ago, but they just shrug it off and skip away, leaving their only son to have a mental breakdown over his abandonment issues.

I loved this film as a kid and the guy makes a good point about the pencil balance but if he’s going to be that pedantic about about the pencil then I’m going to sin him for saying lead when pencils are made with graphite not lead
The term for the core of a pencil is called the pencil lead. This particular sin was based around cartoon physics, how does that justifies making a sin based around ignoring the common accepted term for a common tool.

As someone who used to wear glasses, that is totally possible as you have the arm of the frames to wedge the pencil in place between it and your ear.

For reasons I can’t explain I love this movie. It just hits a perfect spot of ridiculous but poignant when it needs to be, yet you never feel like it swings to hard one way or the other. Definitely underrated in my mind when put up against its peers

"Most likely" from Emporor's new Groove. A stroke of comedic genius that makes you remember the rest of the film as better than it was.

3:11 Yeah, no, the REAL sin for that scene is not letting the child know beforehand that one of his maybe-parents has a peanut allergy; and no, "We don't usually eat peanut butter" is not a good explanation.

This movie is so special to me, I always wanted to be adopted by a family that would help me reach my full potential and I finally did and have come so much further and have a wonderful family
...did he sin goob having unexplained issues causing him to have dark circles under his eyes even though its quite clearly explained in the movie that the reason for said circles is because Lewis inventing at night doesn't let him get any sleep?
I would still argue that the way it's presented is still confusing and is sin-worthy. The very first moment we see Goob, he has the dark circles under his eyes. While this could easily be due to the fact that in this same scene it's established that Lewis is a bad roommate to Goob, ignoring his roommate in favor of tunnelvision on his invention which he sees as a solution for his loneliness (with the fact that Goob has an airhorn to snap Lewis out of his post-invention daydreams indicates they have been roommates for awhile), later scenes imply that it only became impossible for Goob to sleep once Lewis began working on the memory scanner. While Goob could have had trouble sleeping initially, which was exasperated by Lewis' inventing, that seems a needlessly overcomplicated explanation.
Lizzy's fire ants probably bred like wildfire when they finally achieved freedom from that otherwise incredibly small ant colony.
The part at the end when he says goodbye and the music is playing and everything has been set right, makes me tear up every time

Saw this movie a long time ago, haven't seen it in years. It's a sweet story, although a bizarre one at that. Also, this is random, but Lewis looks like Chicken Little and I can't get it out of my head.
This is one of my favourite animated movies, it’s so underrated and adorable. I love the whole celebrating failure cause you just have to “keep moving forward”. Plus Goob is the best “villain” ever

I loved this movie so much. The message, corny as it might be, was just what my overly self-critical, perfectionist, high-school self needed to hear.
1000 sins for not acknowledging Walt’s quote at the end of the film, which embodies it’s message… “Keep moving forward.”
Literally just watched this movie for the first time in years after randomly thinking about it, and now Cinemasins has covered it.

2 more sins: First, that's a T-Bone or Porterhouse steak. That white "d" shaped thing is a bone and wouldn't bend like that. Second, the marbling and fat says it's a good-quality steak, so it would be like a $30 piece of meat. Pretty nice orphanage, throwing away T-Bones like that.
the tom selleck joke is there because it is random and because cornelius (future lewis) is voiced by tome selleck, invoking him was on purpose, along with that the portraits are for the audience, they are there for us to see, not the characters.
