I have only watched the anime for Kaiji (the anime has the exact same art style) so I can only speak on that but the art style at least for me and other fans is something that grows on you. It's one that you come to appreciate especially when it starts to become expressive. The anime to me has a leg up considering it's very well done with the music, voice acting, sound design and etc but I hope the manga can bring the same amount of enjoyment considering that's what the anime is based on.
Hope you enjoy these manga once you get to them! The Happiness covers look really gorgeous and with ten volumes I can't say that I'm not interested :D Oh, and good luck job hunting!

Even Amazon JP packaging is top tier. Shrink wrapped together, shrink wrapped into a backing board that is taped/glued into the box and then filled with packing paper or industry grade bubble wrap.

So I started my monger serious, not that long ago it was on Christmas 2022 and my first ever monga was Haikyuu and then that’s when I started getting into among then I bought was $50 attack on Titan one Punch Man chainsawman demon slayer, my hero academia and the Deadpool samurai then I went to the library, and got haikuu 2 and dragon ball z 3 in one and one piece three in one and that’s it now I’ve basically gotten into monga successfully. Yay.
I also made a purchase recently that made me really excited. I bought the Claymore manga box set! I've read the first 9 outta 27 volumes and my god, this dark fantasy is a BANGER. Definitely recommend it! My favorite manga actually doesn't have an official English translation but since you buy manga from Amazon Japan I thought I'd recommend it. Jagaaaaaaan (Yes that's the name) is my favorite manga of all time. I read the scans online but it was still so much fun. If you would try to read the first 3 volumes, I'd be so damn happy!
usogui is the pinnacle of gambling manga. you arent allowed to read kaiji until you read usogui. and you arent allowed to read kakegurui until you read kaiji. for shoujo recommendations, highly recommend imadoki nowadays. only five vols and good starting point for the genre.

D. Grayman is what essentially got me to expand in manga, I started with naruto when I was a kid and was strictly only naruto, picked up d.grayman by accident one day at the library and really enjoyed it.. one of my personal favorites to this day I heavily recommend it

I believe you need to spend $75 USD in America to qualify for free shipping, but Im not sure what it is outside of America. I think it’s significantly higher.

I've heard majority of the manga you mentioned especially Kaji and Happiness. I've heard people compare Happiness to Tokyo Ghoul a few times. As well as if you liked Kakegurui you would like Kaji. Fruits Basket you may like, it is consider a classic childhood anime. It deals with the zodiacs and some topics that are universal like accepting yourself, understanding others and etc. Fruits basket(2019) as a reboot anime adaptation cause the original was back in 2001. The reboot currently has 2 seasons with the third final season coming later this year.
if you want more shoujo manga recc's, idk if youved checked it out, but Yona of the Dawn. its defiantly not your stereotypical romance, in fact if i didnt know it was shoujo, alot of times i wouldnt have guessed

Yo publishers that just don’t release the manga in English are the worst thing ever. One of my favourite manga (trigun) has another series by the same mangaka called Blood Blockade Battlefront, and the first 10 volumes are hard to get because they’re published by dark horse, the sequel isn’t in English, and no one online is scanning it. Mpd psycho is being scanned however so i can read that eventually
Kaiji won't disappoint❤, the art will grow on u fast as it is very expressive & even emotional at points, but I'm one of the few people out there that generally loves the Fukumoto's art style. But I do get, it it's not for everyone,🙂 but the games are intense as hell also with very well witen characters. & the person that said u should read Kaiji before Kakegurui, has very good taste🤣🤣
