  • Looking for a fresh start to begin day 6 in Binghamton, NY. Mike and Steve joined us last night as Dan and Wayne headed back home. Overall, yesterday (Day 5) was a rough day as it rained in the afternoon but that wasn't a major problem for us, instead it was a lousy 30 Amp fuse. Shortly after leg 3 ended, we stopped for gas. The car gave us a hard time restarting which we attributed to vapor lock. We did manage to get going and arrived at lunch at Lewisburg, PA but when it was time to go, the car didn't agree. We assumed, incorrectly, it was vapor lock. Thankfully a few guys from a local Modal A club came to assist when we couldn't restart. We went down the check list and ultimately determined the 30 Amp fuse that runs the fuel pump and other electric functions failed although there was no obvious break in the fuse. One of the Model A guys had a spare and within no time, we were off. Unfortunately for us, that 30+ minute delay forced a "DNF" (did not finish) so the last 2 legs won't count (but our first 3 did, those we decent times). Things could have been worse, but we did finish and did perform well on those legs that counted. Today is another day, and we will be sure to have spare fuses this time (lesson learned). Thanks to our Model A brothers who came to help us. We didn't catch all of your names, but we appreciate the love.
