Hey to anyone who reads this. This is an emr pen so it will work with emr tablet pc’s from Samsung and devices with Wacom digitizer. It’s amazing on my notebook 9 pro
Yes it will. However, I didn't want to mention this in my video as I haven't tried it on these devices personally. It wouldn't be great to recommend it with something I've not tried. People can get mad if you even copy and paste a comparability list if it doesn't work 100% for them unfortunately. Great to hear it works for you! Seems like a winner all-around.
Lawrence Mann this is very true. And you are right that it might not work on all emr 2in 1 since some emr pens don’t work on the latest Note though it’s also emr. While emr is better with cross compatibility versus aes there’s still sometimes the one or two oddballs. So definitely get what you mean on irresponsibly handing out information when so many look to your channel for your opinion. Always look forward to your content
Thanks Wandrinsheep - hopefully people will look through the comments and see your recommendation about it working on the Notebook 9. Might help people! #ShareTheVid!
I wasn't 100% sure if it was wood when comparing it to the wood in the pencils right next to it. It did look a little more card-like. I'll take your word for it. I'm having a lot of fun with mine so far!! #SpreadTheWord!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I tried all the compatible apps with the S-Pen In my opinion the app Squid is the best, including in the Surface Pro. Could be awesome if you make a video comparing all the free apps. Thank you. Already subscribed and shared the video.

I'm getting one. I have been using Samsung Tab A for a couple years to revive my old passion for sketching but something felt off. Only recently I discovered that I can move around the brushes around and I can use the 2B brush properly. So, for the past two weeks I have been sketching like mad, mostly trying to regain some of the skills that I have lost after years of neglect. Sadly the tips has worn off but instead of looking for tip replacements, I'm looking for an alternative pen which brought me here. Staedtler 2B is my go to tool and having a digital one is like a dream come true. I also planned to get the upcoming Note 9 because carrying a phone and a tablet around is quite a hassle.
This is the most comfortable stylus I've ever used on a phone. I hope you enjoy using it too. Let me know how you get on @LAWRENCEcanDRAW #ShareTheVideo!
The S9 series are just a slight upgrade from previous models but luckily I'm looking to replace my old Motorola G smartphone. I told my sister about the Staedtler Norris digital pencil and she berated me for wasting money on it. She said I could still use the spare nibs for my Tab A. I didn't know there were spares in the box and the last time I saw the box was two years ago.
I think S9 sales have been disappointing. Everyone is already talking about the S10 . I think that says it all. I'd like to see the Note 10 with a built in Duel 180 camera!!
Lawrence Mann Great...I was trying to avoid thinking about S10 otherwise I'll be trapped in the endless loop of waiting for the next version. I am, however, a bit interested in the Galaxy X but I'm not too keen in becoming an early adopter of a new concept(my main reason for holding off buying the Galaxy Note series).
After two weeks: For this pencil to work with my Samsung Note 10 plus phone you have to go into s-pen Advanced Settings and "allow multiple s-pens." This also does not have bluetooth capability, but otherwise is very sensitive on my new Samsung S21 Ultra with sharp, soft tips and a nice feel in the hand (The barrel is wood just like their pencils). The pencil tracks at about 3/8" above the screen and is silky smooth with no noticeable latency. I am not sure how much of that is the pencil versus the new 120hz screen but it feels really nice. My only concerns are the softness of the nibs (It comes with five extras) as I am already noticeably wearing thru the first one and haven't used it that much; and how to keep the pencil with me at all times. I purchased these elastic pencil holders that use a 3m adhesive tab from Ringke and attached it to the side of my cases. However, it makes the phone that much wider and a bit clumsy as the pencil extends beyond the height of the phone. Also the pencil holder tabs need to be mounted on the left to not block the power button and volume rockers so it is not really convenient. Since I always have a phone sling holder (pocket) on my belt the phone drops in and out easily enough, but it is still clumsy to hold even with minimalist cases and I am not sure if I will keep carrying my emr pencil like this in the future. The pencil doee not come with a cap either which means your nib is exposed to damage at all times. If you always have a messenher bag with you or intend to keep the pencil at a desk or home it is a great solution. If you travel a lot and need both phone and pencil handy on the run, the Note 10 plus, Note 20 plus or hopefully upcoming Note 21plus is a better option because the pen stores internally and due to bluetooth benefits. I especially loved having the Note 10plus pen as a camera remote which won't be available in the pen pro for Samsung S21 Ultra until later this year. The phone somehow instantly knows to pop open the sPen shortcut whenever my pencil is near the screen so that is nice and really convenient for notetaking. I am thinking about using my chopsaw to cut down the pencil about .5" to the same height as my phone if I keep carrying it as I am now. Make sure you get a Flygrip or Sinjimoru phone grip if you are handling a larger phone like this because one hand is going to be holding the pencil and you will be dropling your phone without a very secure one-handed hold. While expensive, Flygrips are the absolute best while drawing or writing on-screen or running through an airport or holding to record a video.
No. I saw an early design of it but never saw it since. I thought it might be out. Wasn't even sure. To be honest I was told nothing much has changed so is there any point?
Glad to hear that! I love the yellow & black too. It's like a part of my childhood. Really nice feel to the Noris S Pen by Steadtler. Hope you enjoy this!
Glad you brought this up Lawrence! I have two of them and use them on my Samsung Notebook 9 Pro tablet! It's a phenomenal pen..........but just wish it had an eraser button option or tip at the end. But since they kept in line with their true pencils (which do not offer an eraser) I think they captured the similarity perfectly.
Startled do a version of this Pencil with an eraser tip so I don't see why it can't be done. That said it probably was just avoided for cost. Especially just because they wouldn't have known how well the Noris Digital would sell.
More than welcome Jack!! This is my favourite additional stylus of all time and it feels so great to hold and work with. The only thing Steadtler did wrong was not to do a version for iPad and Surface Pro and all the other devices!!!
Oh Cool. Can you make also an overhand grip with that? Or does this makes no sense for digital sketching? Just asking, because in traditional drawing you can make cool stuff with that (gesture drawing e.g.). Thanks for the cool video.
The Logitech Crayon is only available to Apple’s education market, currently.Apple commissioned Logitech to design, manufacture and sell a cheaper Apple Pencil alternative that is cheaper than the Apple Pencil, but has some of the Apple Pencil characteristics, that is, also, rugged enough for everyday student use. In addition, it really does look like something that a child or student would use. It's a aluminum rectangular tube shape (similar to a carpenter’s pencil OR the Pencil by 53 stylus) , so it doesn’t roll off a surface. It's kinda of bulky and stubby looking and from testing by attendees at the Apple event, in March, it has the side shading thing, like the Apple Pencil, but has NO screen pressure sensing technology.BUT, it’s half the price of the Apple Pencil.
It's so much more comfortable to hold than anything else to hold. I'm not a giant fan of the Surface pens and the SPen is too small. I love the ergonomic Wacom shape is great but this is the nicest 'straight' stylus I've used yet!
No, I hate them. Unless you have them professionally applied then I would forget them! The good ones are expensive and with the Note series I haven't tried them so I can't say that the stylus even works properly with them on which is my major concern.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Thanks for the reply. I have this digital pen too but I have to press the pen a little bit harder or the line will skip constantly while I'm drawing. Really frustrating. Even though I have peeled off the glass screen protector, the problem still remains. Maybe there's something wrong with the pen. I got it yesterday.
That might well be down to the apps that you are using - I've heard this comment before and the stylus pens, especially on Samsung Notes all react differently to different apps - even the proper stylus :( Thanks Samsung!
Will this only work with Samsung devices, or will it work with all devices, but have limitations? It looks so cool, but I don't have any of the devices Staedtler claims are compatible (yet).
The pen your tablet comes with is always going to be the best one for it. This is the best alternative for the Note phone because the size and shape are better.
Great video thankyou! I use a Note 9 and have spare stylus tips, as this staedtler pen doesn't have a battery I'm just wondering if I could fix one of my spen tips onto a pencil? Mm i wonder Haha. Il definitely be purchasing one thanks to your review. Thankyou
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW ok so I tried it and surprise surprise it didn't work 🤣🤣🤣🤣. So I purchased one for myself on the strength of your video and I gotta say it's an awesome bit of kit, I'd almost given up hope of finding a stylus with a fine tip and without the stupid clear disc on the tip. So thankyou !!
I don't think it does but I'm not 100% sure. Check out the specs on the link in the description. That will tell you for sure - You could fire Staedtler a Tweet to be sure as well!
I think the Yellow & Black is much better. I never used the Green pencils so I feel more attached to that!! I really would like to see an reaser on the end with that brass/aluminium band around.
Thanks G! Music is something I constantly worry about - I'm tone deaf so I worry a lot about picking the wrong music. I don't like a lot of music on RUclips videos myself!
I went with the staedtler noris digital pencil and a samsung notebook 9 pro 15" $1400 total, over the new wacom mobilestudio pro 16" $3000+. I can tell you for less than half the price the samsung is 2x as good for my situation. The textured screen so it feels like drawing on paper, the pressure levels, the buttons on the side(that I don't use), and the screen res are the only things the samsung doesn't have. A 1920x1080 display on the samsung is HD and crisp which is awesome for streaming movies. My desktop has a 4k monitor so I wasn't sure 1920x1080 was a wise move but with the notebook 9 so close to me I can't really tell the difference. It actually looks a little better then the 4k screen but I know that's because it's so close to me. Anyway, the notebook 9 pro replaced my tablet(for streaming and surfing the web) and my wacom cintiq companion 2. I have an intuos pro for my desktop with the 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and I can say that the staedtler noris with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity is more than enough no line jitter, no parallax, no battery, has great tilt, and uses wacom tech. Like Lawrence said no button or eraser are the only "draw"backs, but staedtler wouldn't let their name be on the product unless it was the best of the best. This is the first version I'm sure the next one will have these things so I'm not worried. Great video Lawrence and drawing on a phone for a week would drive me mad too.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Looks like I'm gonna have to do more phone art videos. I'm getting requests! The Samsung Notebook looks good. I'm trying to get friendly with them for reviews. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the detailed feedback on your kit. Nice to hear your thoughts on that Gambit!
I must say I didn’t expect Staedtler to make a stylus; the are stationers, not tooling builders for devices. My only real gripe is the price... £35 for a battery-less solution seem quite steep for a product few Samsung phones even use.
Really?? I could imagine this being £50 easily if it was an iPad only stylus. I'm happy to pay that having used it. I think if you get a year out of it then you've had your money's worth at £35. I would like it to work on more devices but it would end up being more complex with charging and little switches etc etc. I love this as it is. I think if this sells really well they might do more. So spread the word and fingers crossed we'll see this evolve further!
Honestly, it was built for Samsung devices. I don't know much about the Xiaomi brand phones and their tech. Normally I'd sat Tweet Steadtler and ask but I think they honestly whouldn't know either. I'd say the only thing you can do is buy it and return it if it doesn't work. Obviously you get that x amount of returns time with most retailers.
I'm afraid not. I don't think it works on the Note 4, though I'm not 100% sure. You'd be best to Tweet Steadtler - Copy me in @LAWRENCEcanDRAW - If your not on Twitter then try Facebook.
I have been using this pen for almost a year with tab s3 since the pen it came with broke quickly. These pencils work really really well I only wish you could replace the nibs like the wacom it would be perfect. The other issue it the plastic cap it filmsy and should be harder. I will be getting another soon the other great thing it is about half the price of the original pen.
I have a playlist about drawing on mobile phones which has some styli in but is your Mi phone Active Stylus compatible? If not you will only be able to use a touch compatible stylus.
Yup. I edited that out of the video funnily enough. It's easy enough to find and it's in the instructions. I thought I'd just cover it in another video and I didn't want to confuse anyone and put them off the Pencil. It just stops the phone searching for the official S Pen. However it also means that if the S Pen falls out then you might loose it :O If you only draw for short periods of time (30mins or less) then it's not a big deal I don't think.
No wait, nevermind. I just gave it a try and the phone doesn't ring if the power saving is disabled, even if the alarm option is still enabled. So weird!
I'd say certainly not that one. It's not even a Samsung screen. You've got a IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. Maybe this only works on Samsung Phones with stylus support. I'll try dig out a list. I didn't want to add anything in the video because I didn't want to have anyone shout at me if they bought it and then it didn't work 100%.
Sux that this wouldn’t work on iDevices. I use a lot of traditional drawing pens, pencils, and markers and aome other drawing instruments/implements and specialty papers from Staedtler.
Apple don't like a lot of third party stuff like stylus pens due to the the competition it might cause for their official Pencil. Apple could easily work with Staedtler to work up a version of this or even another brand like Rotring which also does some great design stationary from the glory days. What about Copic? As I said, they just wouldn't allow it. That would be competition for the Pencil. It's the prime reason I stopped using Apple though - I wanted a phone and a Macbook with a stylus. They didn't deliver so I said goodbye. We'll just have to wait and see how many years it'll take them to catch up! In the meantime... I'm enjoying the highlife with all these stylus devices with whatever OS I have to use!
True but some kids draw with their boogers and that don't make them Picasso! All I'm saying is; if you want a better stylus for more serious drawing... here it is!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW ehhh, its a little dated, if you ever try it id recommend trying colors!3d, its an art program, you'd be surprised what people could make with it
Technically it is no different to drawing to the Note 8. That's why I never upgraded. The specs are virtually the same and for artists, the pen is identical and the drawing experience is the same. There is no difference. No reason to change and nothing new to show you!
Well I've been using it for about two months. I never rever a product on day one without trying it out for a fair while first. I'm happy with it so far. Maybe you were unlucky and landed a faulty stylus - did you return it? What did Staedtler say?

I don't think it does but I'm not 100% sure. Check out the specs on the link in the description. That will tell you for sure - You could fire Staedtler a Tweet to be sure as well!
Sadly,..the cooler green version is only available in the UK. I'm stuck with the yellow and black.
I think the Yellow & Black is much better. I never used the Green pencils so I feel more attached to that!! I really would like to see an reaser on the end with that brass/aluminium band around.
I'm all about the Green...Yes....Totally wish for the eraser!! brass ferrule would be so nice.
Haha. I think if enough people buy this first version they might do a 2nd with that upgrade!!!
Will it work on either iOS or Android?
It is an alternative / replacement stylus for devices that use Wacom AES pens. Apple don't use Wacom tech at all.
Which app is that you used for drawing?
I have a video is my Samsung Galaxy Playlist about all the drawing apps I use ;)
Well, this item is now on my wishlist.
I'm gonna have to put together a top ten list - what would you have on there?
Lawrence Mann A top 10 list of digital art items? Probably those pucks that you can use on a Surface Book to keep it at a 45 degree angle.
Top 10 digital art things to have in your backpack!
Where can you get the product mentioned in the video?
amzn.to/2JKGeVv - I put links in the descriptions for all my videos!
i think you're also talented for selecting right music for something
Art flow pro license or Sketchbook pro license? What do you recommend
Right now I'm having more fun in Sketchbook so I'd go for that! It also has more compatibility across other devices!
awesome! I almost bought art flow pro license
That's a good app! I've got videos showing it. If you'e got the cash then buy both. I use whichever I'm in the mood for at the time!!
What app are you using to draw your drawings?????
I list all the apps in my 12 Note 8 videos ;D You can find the playlist on my channel!! Have fun!
Will this work on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3? Pls tell me..
Obviously you get that x amount of returns time with most retailers.
would it work on something as old as a note 2?
I'm afraid not. I don't think it works on the Note 4, though I'm not 100% sure. You'd be best to Tweet Steadtler - Copy me in @LAWRENCEcanDRAW - If your not on Twitter then try Facebook.
alright...thanks man...and thanks for the quick reply
Sorry it wasn't good news :(
I have been using this pen for almost a year with tab s3 since the pen it came with broke quickly. These pencils work really really well I only wish you could replace the nibs like the wacom it would be perfect. The other issue it the plastic cap it filmsy and should be harder. I will be getting another soon the other great thing it is about half the price of the original pen.
i think the nib is same as on s pen and you could replace them-
will this work with the tab s4
If the Spen works with it then yes!
Will this work on all android devices?
No. Which is a real shame. It's an S-pen so it will work with Samsung pen devices.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Do you know about any stylus which will be good for drawing on Android devices like Mi?
I have a playlist about drawing on mobile phones which has some styli in but is your Mi phone Active Stylus compatible? If not you will only be able to use a touch compatible stylus.
Dude your hair is ridiculous... wish I could style my hair like that
Haha - You made my day ;) Stick around Timothy!
I bought one and it doesn't work with any Android or Apple device
Awesome! Thank you!
Any time. Welcome to the community - loads of Surface videos here if you check my playlists!!! #SpreadTheWord and share some vids!!
There's a battery saver option you can disable so you can use the pen without having to remove the stick from inside the phone.
Lawrence Mann I mean the option that's just under the one you described. ;)
No wait, nevermind.
I just gave it a try and the phone doesn't ring if the power saving is disabled, even if the alarm option is still enabled.
So weird!
Haha. Yeah, It's a be careful moment. I read the instructions a couple of times!
HOLY SHIT, THIS IS WHAT I"VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Do you think it will work on any other phone buddy.
I wouldn't like to say for sure. It was designed for Samsung. What phone were you thinking?
Lawrence Mann razer phone the one I'm using 🤔
I'd say certainly not that one.
Lawrence Mann haha 😂 yeah like I'm soooooo mad lol 😂
Lawrence Mann thanks for the video always love the painting and sketches
I will also add that you have the Logitech Crayon that I would love to try out - if I had an iPad! So that's an option for you!
very interesting!
Glad you like the video Robert - thanks for watching #SpreadTheWord.
Super 🤘
Thanks Emrah!
I use to draw on a 3ds so i think i can draw with an s pen tbh
True but some kids draw with their boogers and that don't make them Picasso! All I'm saying is; if you want a better stylus for more serious drawing... here it is!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW true, hahah, not disagreeing, its more of a personal thing with me
I think that is more than fair enough! I've never used a 3DS. Not even for gaming. It must be an astounding device.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW ehhh, its a little dated, if you ever try it id recommend trying colors!3d, its an art program, you'd be surprised what people could make with it
Had a look. WOW! I'm actually really impressed. Haha. Not sure I'd want to put in the effort on a 3DS but I am impressed!
Draw on the Note 10
Technically it is no different to drawing to the Note 8. That's why I never upgraded. The specs are virtually the same and for artists, the pen is identical and the drawing experience is the same. There is no difference. No reason to change and nothing new to show you!
bought one, broke down after a week. VERY poor build quality...you`ll see for yourself.
Well I've been using it for about two months. I never rever a product on day one without trying it out for a fair while first. I'm happy with it so far. Maybe you were unlucky and landed a faulty stylus - did you return it? What did Staedtler say?
are you an ex yonkie?
What's a Yonkie?
I can't get suttle any lines with it. I find the pen that comes with the device to be better in all aspects except ergonomics
What app are you using? Which phone?
will it work with s10 plus?
Same answer as before ;) Good luck!!
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will that work for it?
It works as an S-Pen so it should work with it as long as that device uses the normal S-pens.
