All of my smc lipo batteries puff up... they stay at storage when not in use and are well taken care of. They have good power and still work but puff like crazy. The only lipo brand that has NEVER puffed on me is gens ace! I have over 30 lipos and 9 different brands. What up jay tee
I still have an old set of SMC 2s batteries that I still use. But everyone I know use to use them and have stopped buying them. I stopped buying them because all of my 4s batteries the hard cases split after only a few months of racing. Same goes for for the set I ran in my 4x4 SCT.
Thanks for the info Jay... I was just sitting here researching what batteries to get for my limitless I was looking at those turnigy graphene as well as these SMC’s 6000 mAh... what’s your take on,or have you ever heard of the Yawoo graphene lipo’s that they sell on Amazon...
A puffy battery is a DANGEROUS battery. There are several causes with faulty charging and over discharging leading the list. The puffiness is a product of Electrolyte decomposition which results in oxygen remaining in the pack that does not adhere to cathode or anode. Oxygen loves to burn. As a safety precaution, it is recommended to retire puffy batteries.
not when you cant afford a new one lol... I have been running a puffy 2s for months just because I cant afford another lol... my job is gone due to the virus. oof
Man, do you have all of the RCs you've shown on your channel? Been going back through some of your footage from just the last year and it's quite impressive! You should do a video in the near future showcasing all the RC Vehicles you currently have! :)
Ee If it's been charged from a storage state then that sounds about right. I haven't ever had a lot of mah enter a battery stored at 3.8v. Now if it was drained much lower and the voltage wasn't raised back to storage, that is when I could see more mah enter the battery pack. The final mah reading after charging is not the total mah that the battery is holding (capacity)
Just ordered a smc True Spec DV 22.2V 8000mAh with EC5 connector & now in search of cheap charger, any recommendation? Going from Traxxas Products to Arrma Products
I believe they have a few charges on their site. If not you can also look at powerhobby for some Chargers as well. Horizonhobby.com has charges to just depends on your specification.
I happens. The only thing about the Traxxas stuff is that you can't be using anything else but Traxxas. Especially those ID connectors which I'm not a big fan of. But it's not a big loss as long as you can use them and Traxxas has a good warranty you'll be good
SMC sucks!! Everyone of my hard packs are puffed. One has a split case that was never run, two are puffed after one run, and don't try to warranty them. SMC does not warranty puffed lipos, they will pass the buck on you saying it's your fault by not treating them right, Really!!!
Also remember that these packs I am call "soft" packs are really not soft. They are built with G10 plates on 5 sides for added protection.

I like mine. Been running them for 6 years
Wow..6 years!!
I always buy soft, I like to see the cells to keep an eye on it. And there not as bulky.
Thanks for the review! 💪🏾💯🚀🔥
Tks 4 watching
How does the SMC complare to the Awanfi and PowerHobby? Great vid BTW.
For me these have been equal to the higher-quality batteries that are sold out there.
🔥Good stuff bro🔥👍👍🔥
Nice review. Thanks
Tks

@@JayTeeRC sweed dude, looking forward to it!
I run two of their 4s packs in my Xmaxx they have been some of the best batteries I’ve had.
Same
I bought SMC once and that was it never again
Those batteries look heavy af
Loving mine so far
Got a pair of their 4s 7200s for my Xmaxx
That is what I run in mind and my maxx.
Do you still run them?
Are smc same as ip intellect sold in uk
Should 5200mah lipos balance to near 5200 mah? Mine hold about 2800mah when charged, is that normal ?
No it should charge higher then that
If it is fully charged at 4.2 volts per cell than it should be higher than that
Ee

Dont charge them more than 4.2v any pack
How do these compare to the Awanfi?
Love the content and information, by the way. Thank you for all you do!

Been asking about those "Awanphani?" batteries at HobbyTown for a minute.
They said " You must've seen a video by JayTee.."
Me: "Yep!"
Let me ask everybody a question am I a huge NOOB for buying the Traxxas Charger and Battery set when i bought my XMaxx

Yep!
I've tried 3s and 4s they have swollen and exploded I don't recommend these for nothing if you don't believe me ask someone like RC Dude81
