Hello I have the Delonghi Primadonna Exclusive ESAM 6900.M and lately it's been showing error upon power on please fill water tank. The water tank is full, and it's not allowing me perform any other function. I keep hearing it could be the magnet inside the reservoir, and others say water level sensor inside the machine. I took it to the service workshop once, they charged me US$21 only and returned it back, and the problem took 48 hours to show up again! Any advice?
Hi YB, Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the machine. I do not have the machine in front of me but if it has a moving magnet float in the reservoir that could be the issue. Generally those float a little higher when there is water in the reservoir. If it gets hung up it may not float properly and the internal sensor will not register water in the reservoir. I'd check for movement of that magnet. Marc
Hi jT, Thanks for the question. Although it may be possible the machine is not really setup with that intention. If looking for an automatic with latte art capabilities by design check out the Gaggia Cadorna Barista Plus doing latte art in this video: ruclips.net/video/TCIJ3IGQctw/видео.html Marc
Hi HM, I would not recommend this machine for that level of use. You could be in the 60+ beverage range with 20 people. For that level of use I'd recommend a machine with high coffee, water and used coffee capacities like the Jura X8: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/super-automatic-espresso-machines/products/jura-x8-platinum-espresso-machine Marc
Hi VK, Most automatic machines froth milk to 130-150F. That's where milk is it's sweetest due to heating. Above 155F or so the portions start to break down and milk does not taste good. If you want it hotter I suggest a machine with manual frothing. There are a couple available like the Gaggia Babila and Accademia which have both carafe based automatic frothing and a manual steam wand. Marc
Hi Sobhan, Thank you for the request. May be able to do the EC860 at some point. We do not carry the EC850M at the moment. Until we can do review here are my thoughts on the EC860... It may be a good choice for those who are okay brewing with ESE pods and are looking for an easy way to make milk-based espresso beverages. Understand that ESE pods do not produce an espresso on par with what can be made from freshly ground whole bean coffee. But, some people are okay with that quality. The EC860 is one of the lower cost machines which has automatic milk frothing functions. And, one of a very few that incorporates that feature in a machine (semi-automatic) which uses a portafilter for brewing. I would not purchase this machine if you are looking to make higher level espresso shots. The machine uses a pressurized and undersized portafilter. This limits coffee dose size and pressurized filter baskets "fake" the crema to some extent by forcing the extraction thru a single tiny hole which causes bubble formation. Very different than standard espresso brewing which uses the coffee puck to create the pressure of the brewing process and in turn yields a much deeper extraction of the coffee. IMO, super-automatic machines which grind from fresh whole beans and automate the tamping and brewing functions produce better espresso than machines which use pressurized baskets like the EC680. But, the super-automatic machines are more expensive - especially those with attachable milk carafes or other ways of automating the frothing process. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'd be happy to help!
Thanks for the reply, EC860 is also great, there isn't much different between them, 850 is the middle east version and that's the best I could find in the local market for my budget. I am just starting a new era of coffee experience so I decided to buy this machine, and found your videos and reviews very useful. there are few videos about the machine but non of them really go through the details like yours. so I appreciate if you can make a review on it. please and thank you.
its a crap machine, i had same problem plus endless problems heat, solenoid, , in 3 years 10 repairs no jk, its just made very badly that is why they have now scrapped it , for the money what a fail , if you still have one extent the guarantee ,you will need it or good luck
I own of these at it great. My only complaint is the milk temperature. It tends to be more warm then hot. You really have 7 profiles, the default plus six others. Programing is simple and once done will deliver a consistant drink every time. One other thing, this machine is not cheap at $3K+.
Peter Turner I did set the temp to max. Milk temp reaches only 110 - 115. I preheat the milk system by doing a cleaning first. The final temp of a latte is only 120 - 125 F. The ideal temp is around 150 F. I never get close to that even after adding a second double shot to the drink. If i preheat the milk in the microwave, I can achieve 150+. But that defeats the purpose of this machine.
marc frederick i know marc if i set it to your temps i really dont like the drink i use low temp and find that floats my boat i guess we all have different tastes i know there isnt a machine out there u can change the milk temp what about microwaving your cup before
Hi DO, Thanks for the comment. If you like large color screens/touchscreens check out Jura machines: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/super-automatic-espresso-machines?_=pf&pf_v_brand=JURA Marc
Hi NPNG, Neither of the machines you inquired about are rated for use in a coffee shop environment. It depends a lot on local code, but neither have certifications like NSF etc. for commercial use. The lowest cost machine that may be allowable depending on local codes is the Jura Impressa XS90: www.wholelattelove.com/jura-impressa-xs90-one-touch Understand it's not really a "commercial" machine, but can service a heavier load. For true automatic commercial machines you can find a bunch here: www.wholelattelove.com/commercial/commercial-espresso-machines
Hey guys, I'm deciding between this DeLonghi and the Oracle. Would you say the DeLonghi can produce a shot and milk texture that can match the quality of the Oracle? Thanks!
Caracalification Oracle will do a better job at both. For espresso it operates like a traditional machine and gives you tight control of variables like brew temperature via PID. Milk texture on the oracle is continuously variable and you can set a specific temperature for finished milk - that's pretty cool!
there was a fault with the machine they gave me a new 1 the where the milk jug fitted onto the pipe it was the wrong height weather they did that when they repaired the solenoid i dont know it does make great coffee no doubt next time im going to buy a jura giga 5 costs 3 x more ,if i didnt have the money id buy this one again ,to me its the best machine for its price

Is it possible to do latter art with this? Ive seen someone use a Delonghi magnifica s to make latte art, I hope the PrimaDonna can also do it.

Does it makes extra hot milk?

Hi Sobhan, Thanks for your reply! We do try and be as detailed as possible in our videos.
I'm using that machine but there is a problem, the grounds coffee is not directing to the ground container.what is the problem???
+Robert Quiroz Hi Robert, That's a strange one. Is the grinds bin inserted correctly?
its a crap machine, i had same problem plus endless problems heat, solenoid, , in 3 years 10 repairs no jk, its just made very badly that is why they have now scrapped it , for the money what a fail , if you still have one extent the guarantee ,you will need it or good luck

IF you want to make it hotter change water temperature on menu because making the milk hotter will effect the taste adversely

This machine is now 6 years old but looks like its from 2020. Shame Delonghi is not making anything that looks similar with the large color screen.
