This video just changed everything for me! I just learned so much and within 1 hour made my Zoom Q2N concert footage look 100 times better! Thank you!!!
I'm not sure if covid has stopped you being able to create content but.. I just found your channel today, have absolutely 0 experience in davinci and your grading tuts have been literally HUGE for me my guy. Whatever the reason is, never stop making videos, even if its just a 60 minute video of you doing some colouring work with no talking etc. Its so helpful to see a long time davinci pro do his thang fr, better than anything out there bro. Although do what makes you happy, i appreciate you putting all this work out for anyone to see, ive got a tonnn of learning to do, and however long all your videos are together, multiply that by 3 because i need to absorb every little thing you do lmao. Hope you're all good my man.
Thank you for this comment! I needed it!!! I have been in the middle of setting up a new studio but I am planning to upload to really cool stuff very soon! Thanks again my friend 🙏👊✌
@@TheModernFilmmaker My main work is Stills so I take ages to learn any video software. Need to get cracking with channel content this year.. been a tad lazy with it.
This is just what I’ve been looking for! I’ll be shooting at a small music festival in the summer, and I’m hoping this will help me make my video just a little bit better.
Dude, that's a Chris McClarney show you working on. Just seen the start of it and liked it even more before I even watched it all. Chris McClarney's music is quite worshipful, love it. Ok, back to the video. Another comment coming after watching 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yes!! Chris is awesome, I have only been working with him for a few months but he is a great guy and an amazing artist! Hope you enjoy this one. Thank you for the comment! 🙏✌
Your work is awesome! I’ve gained so much insight from watching your videos. I am extremely new to post production editing and I have recently downloaded Resolve? Do you have any advice for a newby like myself?
Hi Marcel! Had a quick question. I noticed you didn't convert to Rec709? is that something that you did after? Or is it not necessary anymore? What are your general rules with it? Thanks!
Hey Marcel, great video! Learning a lot from your videos here in the Netherlands. Are you helping out this church regularly or was it a one time project? Didn’t know this church yet. Maybe a little bit off topic question: You where mentioning ‘Live shading 12 cameras with two BM shading boards’. Can you send me more info about this setup? Especially how you are shading the BMPCC’s live? Blessings Lambert
Hey Lambert! Yes 😁 I am working on all the upcoming releases from Church Of The City and also work on the video team every Sunday shading the live stream. Send me an email at Marcel@themodernfilmmaker.com I would love to share whatever you would like to know. Thank you for the comment my friend 🙏✌
That is a good question Tom. Ideally you would want to use a white balance checker on the stage so every camera would be properly white balanced. That was not done in this situation but they did try to get each camera setup similarly to each other. Same color profile, same resolution and same white balance settings.
Yes!! Kind of a forced break moving into a new place during all this covid craziness and trying to keep my video clients happy. The new space is almost done though and I have some great tutorials coming soon!! Thank you for the comment Kevin!!!!!!! 👊✌
How long would it take to grade a full 2 hour, 10 camera concert? It looks like this was at least a day's work for 4 minutes. Just curious. Beautiful work, you really know your craft.
It would probably take me a few days to do a whole concert but it really depends. For the video used in this tutorial they shot several songs at once(like a concert) but wanted to release the songs separately as Singles. So for this I approach every song as a separate project, going over the top on all of them. On the other hand if a client wanted me to deliver a whole concert as one experience, I would just color each camera and not color each shot.

fantastic !!! thank you for the tips :-) i'm just wondering how long it would take if i would do it lol^^ bests regards from Colmar, FR ciaooo JF
At 2:20 I notice your picture-in-picture view had the same colors as the shot you were working on. Was that intentional? Of course, another inspiring video. I still have to catch up on a bunch of your videos. I'm starting to fall behind. :P
Man, I'm fascinated with resolve but I've spent a great deal of time in Media composer. Resolve seems like it is limitless in its creative abilities. How long did it take you to get good in resolve?
Media composer is a good program but if you would really like to take your skill level and video quality to the next level Davinci Resolve is exactly what you should be using. You are right, the possibilities are truly endless... I had originally been working in the Adobe suite and for about 6 months after I found Resolve I kept working in both programs. After the 1st 3 months I tried to start and finish a project completely in Resolve. Then at around 6-8 months I deleted the Adobe suite to force myself to only use Resolve and I haven't looked back since. The more you work in Resolve the faster you will be forced to get good.
Hey, you are really good at what you are doing. Did you learn by yourself? I started with videography and the hardest part for me is color grading. I seem to overedit alot and mostly not really knowing what i want to make. Is there a davinci resolve community somewhere where i can learn the program with other users? Like Reddit?
Thank you HipsThor!! I really appreciate the kind words.... I actually did learn by myself with the help of the small amount of RUclips videos that was available back for Resolve back then. My advantage was that I had been working in Adobe for years prior to Resolve and had built a relatively good business making commercials for brands. So by the time I found resolve most of my knowledge on making videos was already there, I just had to learn the program and grow from there... I would say the best teacher is experience. Try to find projects or if you have a camera make up projects, follow along with tutorials to try and learn from there. A lot of being a good video creator is learning through experience what bad videos are and how to avoid making them 😂 thanks again for the comment 🙏✌
I came here to learn how to color grade some concert footage for my band but I've never color graded anything in my life and 80% of this went way over my head :(
I love your content and I always learn so much. So I messages you and left messages about MODERN TITLES & THE MODERN THIRDS update, I still haven't received any response or reply you talked about in that video for people who purchased them before. So what up?
