Man, apart from the framerate this video still holds up. I wish some of the later segments had gone on longer though, the Lance bit was like eight times longer than the sword bit haha
Lance: starting weapon, not too bad, magic can be useful Dagger: makes the game too easy... Axe: why does the upgraded version have to go through enemies? -.- Scythe: best magic to use in my opinion, weapon is okay... Torch: useful when there is actual ground to use it on... but magic can save you from bats I guess Arrow: only bad if the enemies are below you, best for taking out red arremers, magic lets you find and remember chest locations Sword: at least it's easy to eliminate red arremers with it, just don't rely on its magic... Bracelet: good with the golden armor (can destroy projectiles) at close range (very powerful), not so good otherwise... but you can just get it at the last level anyway
Who designed all the non-dagger and non-bow artillery in this game? Why did they hate us? The Bracelet is difficult to utilize as a plot and difficulty device so I can excuse that but really..... the sword, axe, and torch could screw up your whole operation.
There are several parts in this game where the Crossbow is superior - most notably during the fights against the Red Devils, as well as most of stages 2 and 3 in general.
My only advice is to just practice over and over. The only way to beat it is to memorize all the chest locations, enemy attack patterns, and boss tactics. It's not impossible, but you have to put in the hours.

Unfortuantely alot of the (more interesting) weapons are rendered obsolite by the fact that most of the levels in this version are about fiddly platform jumping with a few small low health enemies. So just having a high rate of fire (Dagger) or easy targeting (Bow) is the most important thing. If there were more enemy laden levels (like level 1) with stronger monsters, the Torch, Axe, Bracelet & Sythe might be worth using. This is why i prefer the arcade version overall.

Beating this game took me over 10 years of playing, starting at age 5. The first time I beat it, the feeling of joy was indescribable.

agree but torch is the strongest weapong on dmg but harder to use than the dagger.
fastest playthrough is with torch.

You get the bracelet on the second playthrough; the rest are obtained like any other weapon.
I did not remember of the scythe, axe or sword ! :O

Wow the scythe magic power is very powerful. But I never got it with the golden armor because I suck with this weapon...
What the hell? No sound effects? The SFX are half the awesomeness of the upgraded weapons, the other half is seeing the enemies mightily destroyed.

yeah i did that until i found out i have to beat the game twice and with the bracelet the 2nd time
