Agree Sidekicks was frustrating to play. We really struggled with the rules.
You can play Paint the Roses on BGA...It's really good! Especially if you like logic puzzle type things.
Great video! Disney Villainous is easily my favorite Disney game and my favorite asymmetric gameplay game! :)

We love Villainous as well, but have had the exact same issues with the Marvel version, possibly as we also play at 2. We have been saying for ages we need to give it another shot too, maybe will try some of your suggestions and take out the events
Definitely play Haunted Mansion! It's wonderful!
So a Disney game we just picked up and gets little/no recognition is Snow White and the seven Dwarves: A Gem Stone Mining game. So far we’ve been loving it. It’s a very simply push you luck game that our non-gaming family was able to enjoy and created a lot of laughs and people pushing their luck too far. It’s out of print and hard to find, I was lucky enough to find someone to trade for it, but something you should look into considering your guys love for Disney (which we very much understand and relate with lol)
I recently picked up Sidekicks and Shadowed Kingdoms for like $12 total at Target. I knew why they were on clearance, but it’s a steal nonetheless

We don’t have Barnes & Noble here :(. And our equivalent (Chapters) doesn’t really carry boardgames. But hopefully we can grab it next time we are there!!

Sad to hear Sidekicks was clunky, I had hopes that it would be worth adding to my limited collection.
As a fellow Villainous fanatic, I came around to appreciate Marvel Villainous more once I had the characters down. I would recommend that you play a few rounds under the "Inevitable" mode where you can only have 1 Global Event in play at a time. Once you really understand each character's strategy and gameplay, you can go to "Undying" mode to add in the ability for 4 events to be live at once.
The two things that will likely stay as problems with Marvel Villainous will be that it's a little less balanced at 2 players, and that the cards are not a clear in their interpretation. I have a few that I read and say "this is my interpretation" and that's how my house plays them.

Have you guys had a chance to play The Haunted Mansion game yet? It doesn’t beat out Villainous for me but it’s a good time.

I think I need to try Villainous another shot, we played it at a game day event and I think it was more the person who taught it than the game itself that made a negative impact 😆🤣

Our best recommendation for expansions is to pick the one that you resonate with the characters most!
Return of the Headless Horseman is a fun Disney game. It would be interesting to see where it would be ranked.

Agree on Villainous, definitely the top Disney Game we own (unless you are including all Marvel related games). I’m surprised Jeff isn’t a fan of dexterity/speed games, being a hockey player I assumed he’d be good at them. Or is it more just not being a fan of chaotic party games in general?
It’s 100% just due to chaotic party games. Not my thing at all haha.
As I noted before, I'm not a big disney fan anymore, but I can still have some fun with some of these. Was not aware of Parade and am really looking forward to learning more now. As for Hocus Pocus, I don't like the film and I cannot stand Midler, so that's not gonna happen. :)
Sorcerer Arena!
Hocus Pocus was a miss for me because the win has a lot of luck associated with it. You can stack the deck such that winning is pretty impossible, especially if you're trying to deduce based on questions. I much prefer the control of Hanabi for this style of game.

I agree with Villainous, it is the best Disney game. I cant wait for the Star Wars version that will come out soon.
I Love that they have a lot of games that have a Disney version, with 2 young kids at home that are obsess with Disney, we can play lot of them and it get them interested in the board game hobby.

Villainous was a.miss for.me.at.first.for the.various win condition that confused me.without.being able to understand them without watching playthroughs. I greatly enjoyed a solo variant I discovered on RUclips that helped me dive into each one. Still.find it intimidating to teach to others.

I've heard legends of people liking Disney as much as Jaime, but I honestly didn't believe them until now 😂. I've been to Disneyland (California) twice in my life & never as an adult. Probably spent a total of 5-6 days there. Is it fun if you don't have kids?

Honestly we didn’t even think to not add Marvel Villainous, we didn’t want to open the Marvel and Star Wars can of worms for games haha. Oversight on our part
I’ll have to replay Sidekicks and Jungle Cruse. Sidekicks isn’t that bad. The way the game defines some things is different and that adds to the complexity. The problem was the marketing and expectation mismatch.
I’ll have to disagree there. I can’t really speak to the marketing piece but the game is definitely clunky with ruleset and mechanics and the rulebook doesn’t help. Obviously everyone’s experience is going to be different

Funny because I prefer the gameplay of Marvel over Disney villainous. Disney characters are better but marvel gameplay is better. One small rules thing... you can only have one global event card and one personal event card active at a time. If you ever draw events when one is already active, you just discard it because it can't be played. This rule correction might be what it takes for you to like Marvel!

I'm having to find new people to play Disney board games with. The guys I used to play with abandoned me when Disney started pushing transgender stuff while I kept playing Disney games. Calling me names, saying I'm supporting pedos, etc.
Looks like solo gaming for a while until I find a new group. There's no local game hobby stores where I live so no idea what to do now.
Honestly? You’re better off without them. Good riddance. Upward and onward. I’m confident you will find like minded people who also love games! If you aren’t in our discord. There’s lots of lovely people in there ready to welcome you with open arms.

Marvel Villainous is much better with 3+ players. Also, in the rule book it says that if a second Event is revealed when another one is already in play, then you discard that new event (You can play with multiple events at once, but it is not very fun).
