Stay tuned.....it's gonna get crazy!!
Thanks
Sweetness! that is a beautiful gun. I would be proud to own one. I am a big fan of Sears branded guns as well. I have a model 54 30-30 which is a winchester model 94 with some cheaper furniture and bluing. I think my 54 is a 1964 as well if I recall. Sears guns bring me back to my childhood when they were one of the premier places to shop, and the sears catalog was looked forward to. And I am not even that old... I collect vintage Sears garden tractors as well, so finding Sears rifles and shotguns makes me happy. That power pack choke system looks cool
My father has his father’s (My Grandfather) Sear model Glenfield model 30A in .30-30 (basically a marlin 336)
The Sears guns are definitely overlooked. I’d love to see an older Sears catalog with the guns listed.
@@MilsurpGarage me too!
So, I googled the gun I inherited from my grandfather, and this video that shows up. I have the EXACT same model 😮 down to the dates. I can't wait to have some fun at the range.
Grandfather hand me downs account for 83% of this channels viewership. Thanks for tuning in.
A lot of these old store brand guns were very good value for the money. And maybe even more so today than back when they were new.
I agree 100%
I just picked up a JC Higgins model 20 for $200 from my Cabelas- has the power pac choke system on it, super smooooth action!
Excellent. It needs some exposure on your channel! Thanks for tuning in.
It will get its turn- It's a bit worse for the wear, some rust, and it's missing the safety button. @@MilsurpGarage
This is a lengthy video but a worthwhile watch
If it ain’t long, it’s wrong.
HEY thanks for the barrel date codes just figured out my jc Higgins is a 1957 shotgun
Noticed the safety is mounted in front of the trigger guard on mine too but it is still rollmarked as jc higgins
So many different different incarnations!
I have the 1946 model. I received the gun from my brother-in-law.
Thanks for the barrel dates and video I found d out mine is 1958
Different gun I know but I saw your savage 99 video and I wanted to let you know that
After five months on layaway I was able to pick up my
Savage 99
And yes I’ll be using it, this coming rifle season
Details:
Savage 99 (EG)
Chambered .300 Savage
Manufactured by savage in Chicopee Falls Massachusetts
Circa 1952
Has checkering on the stock and the forearm
Outfitted with a flip up rear sight and a Lyman 2A SA peep sight
Even though the gun is over 70 years old the stock is in excellent shape still retaining a gloss finish
Finally found some .300 savage (for a small fortune) and shot mine a month ago for the first time. It was awesome.
Excellent video.
So since you have both which is the smoothest pump and how would you rate your pumps in order so far?
I thought this was the video where the Rem 31 made an apperance . This is a good video also.
ok the 31 did show up.
I have a 1962 JC Higgins Model 20 and it has the improved compensator with the removable chokes.
I can only really shoot fibre was cartridges through it. Because the power pac chokes shaves plastic wads and they build up on the choke. Yours has a Poly choke. I think the poly choke is a better system as I have a a few shotguns with them on it. Mine is also only a 3 shot. The magazine is crimped to only allow 2 in the mag and one in the chamber.
Fun fact Polychoke still exists. You can buy them for modern shotguns too. They just screw into the choke tube of modern guns
Ive heard of issues where the wad can get shaved with these types of adjustable chokes but I have never personally observed this problem. Thanks for tuning in.
You have the deluxe model with the vent rib barrel the standard one does not have the vent rib barrel keep that in mind.
I’m not sure but I always called those adjustable chokes by the Polly Choke name. My second shotgun when I was 14 was a JC Higgens High Standard Sears brand 12 gauge with that same adjustable choke.
Poly-choke was a brand, not necessarily it’s own design and there were many different manufacturers of the adjustable choke. This particular one was not specifically marked and I do not know these types well enough to identify it one way of another.
Bit of a correction/detail.. High Standard made the model 20 for Sears first , then later started making it with their own name on it and called it the model 200.
I’m sure I said that in one of the two videos….what’s interesting is the 50/50 patent ownership.
@@MilsurpGarage I’m sure you did. Thanks for all the enjoyable vids bro.
I have a J.C Higgins Model 66 in pristine condition with the original soft shell case and owners manual wish I could get it to you so you could do a video
They always interested me and I had a couple of purchase chances but these were prone to action bar breakage which has made me hesitant. Need to find one super cheap. Would love to feature yours but would be afraid to shoot it for the video.
Why would you be afraid to shoot it ?@@MilsurpGarage
@@ChristoSilverstackAfraid it would break is a better way to put it. Is it a single action bar version or a dual action bar set up?
The owner's manual does not specify and I have not taken it apart @@MilsurpGarage
She is a tank... heavy with all steel receiver...helps with recoil though
It’s a tough one for sure. I love the feel of a nice heavy shotgun. Thanks for tuning in!
Is the ejector different between the JC Higgins 20 and Sears 20? I didn't see the screw.
Without them in front of me do remember that the ejector mechanisms were different on these two models. Examining the subtle differences was interesting.
😎👍😎
mossberg: good design! I'll keep making it I guess.
Mossberg certainly did. Way after these three were gone the Model 500 suddenly appeared!
I have a 1946 JC Higgins as well! Thanks for the video
I think it is called a Polley choke but i could be wrong.
A poly choke is a brand name for a very popular adjustable choke from the period but I’ve never seen one without the brand name on it. I suppose they might have made some unmarked with the name omitted for Sears but never saw a Poly choke in this three choice configuration either.
My JC Higgins model 20 had a brand marked Poly choke….the Sears Model 20…..still not sure.
@@MilsurpGarageOne of my JC Higgins model 20 has a “JC Higgins power-pac” marked choke. Has three different choke tubes you can screw in… short , medium and long range. JC Higgins model 20 is my favorite shotgun ever :EDIT never mind
I had a ted willuams sears gun, i think it waa an M200. Goid gun.
I just picked up for $50 mine has sears and co. On the side of it
Great price!
I agree when younger people hear sears and roebuck they think cheap Remember kids in 1958 these guns were built by American Steel and american walnut They would probably run better than winchester or remington
Yes sir. The Sears guns were all very solid.
No Sir I was raised by my grandparents not because my dad was a dead beat but because all he did was work to support me. Anyways what I was brought up to know is Sears was were you went to buy the best. Fast forward 15 years I’m 25 and for whatever reason Sears is sold to K Mart. That’s when everything as this country knew it started to change. That’s when this country started down a terrible road. We have yet to come out of it as well.
The camera blowing over is definitely proof that god hates trap and skeet shooting… notice the camera never blows over when you are doing a tabletop review?
just saying
Camera never blew over during a video at the table, but lightning did strike knocking the power out. I love that video. It was on the Remington model 51.
